"If you are interested in the original stories... then yes."
As she continued to walk, she would seem to slip away from view multiple times, and every time the tempature dropped. Then, she rounded a corner, and was gone. Hallways of books surrounded him, every one dark, and seeming to stretch into nothing.

Cody muttered a curse under his breath when the coldness reappeared and the woman vanished again. Lost in the stacks of books, he shivered. His hand alighted on his revolver once more.
"Should've brought a flashlight," he muttered to himself. "Um, hello? Are you still around?" Did he ever get that woman's name? He couldn't remember now. He crept carefully down the rows of books, hoping he was going the same direction as the old woman.

As he started down one of the paths, he could hear the loud creaking echoing through the halls. As first it wasn't much, but then it began to get increasingly grotesque, twisting and sounding like screams of agony.
But it was just a creaky floor... nothing to worry about...
Then the whispers started to be heard.

Jocelynn nodded, and despite her worry followed the man. She wasn't about to stay and find out if there was really monsters or not. She walked behind him quietly for a bit, her eyes nervously glancing around the darkness. "S-So what's your name?" she asked, looking at the man's back.

He didn't look back.
"Anders. Micheal Anders." They had to crouch slightly because the roof of the tunnel was getting narrower.

He was already jumpy--being left behind in a creepy building and then hearing the mutated creaks of the floor beneath him turning into shrieks.
He spun and turned, aiming his revolver into the darkness. Whispers? Was he hearing things now?
"Hello? Is anyone out there? You'd better show yourself or you might get shot."

Run run run...
The echoes whispered. The room seeemd to be getting dimmer the more he stood there.
Die die die...

Jocelyn ducked down some, starting to shiver as the temperature got cooler the further they went. "Jocelyn Grey." she said quietly, following a little bit closer now. She hated tight spaces, and would often get claustrophobic.
The whispers grew closer and he shuddered before terror sent him sprinting for the nearest exit. Which way was it? He scrambled down the hallway, trying to feel for doors and handles. Scratch that, there had to be a window around here...didn't there?
His grip tightened on the gun as he fumbled in his search for an exit. "Oi! Old woman? Where's the exit?"

They continued until the tunnel rose, and they had to start lowly climbing. Eventually the tunnel shrunk again until they were on their hands and knees. "Almost there..." He said, not looking back.
@ Cody
The halls had gotten slimmer, how did he get through before just by walking? The whispers were getting more and more numerous.
Hide hide hide...
Everything suddenly went black, and he could feel nothing.
Kill kill kill...

Cody's last thought as darkness suffocated him was still rebellious. "Damn it no!" He fired his revolver wildly as the whispers descended on him.
Jocelyn panted as she crawled, her heart pounding as the space continued to get smaller. She felt even more trapped now and was starting to panic. "H-How much longer? I-I'm claustrophobic..." she explained, pulling herself along the narrow space.

He was in a room, empty from the looks of it, with no windows or doors. The light that came from the room was a small flickering candle, that looked like it had been burning for a while.
Above him was a latch of some sort, out of reach by 4 feet, but it looked to be attatcehd to nothing. THe floor was wooden planks, old and creaky.

He tried to stand up, to get his bearings, but only managed to sit upright, blinking in the dim light.
(OOC: I'd be upset if he goes completely psychotic, except that that's really how he is in canon.) xD

(you're just really unlucky. I think you're at 16 insanity now. 4 more and and you're really gonna go nuts.)
The room seemed to pulse around him, in time with his own heartbeat. It was getting louder and louder.

Cody's grip on reality wavered, as did the grip on his gun. He brought his unarmed hand to grip half his face as the pulsing and the sounds seemed to grow worse.
"I'm warning you," Cody yelled, no longer caring what might or might not be stalking him, "I'm armed and highly dangerous!"

The room seemed to stabilize. No more odd noises. The latch on the roof was still there though.
@ Jocelyn
No sooner had she said that the tunnel opened up. They were on a ledge of some sort,, about three feet wide with high rock walls. The tunnel was now a walkway.
"Come on. Not much further. Careful you don't fall though."

Cody eyed the latch with misgiving, and then his surroundings. As much as he hated to admit that the supernatural was real, he was starting to think this mansion was a hotspot for them.
He made a grab for the latch, wondering if it would be worth trying to open providing it wasn't locked. If it was too far out of reach, he'd try to climb the nearest bookshelf or table or whatever suitably flat, raised object he could find to reach the desired height. It was at times like these he hated being of average height.

The room was absolutely bare, a perfect cube of 8x8x8. Light came from somewhere, but he couldn't tell.

"Of course," he muttered to himself, realizing that the room was void of everything but himself. He gave up on the latch and instead headed for the light.
"Helloooo?" He called out. "Anyone out there? Anyone friendly?" he added cautiously. "Cuz I seem to have lost my way from the exit."
