(cough cough. Gun. Bullet. Latch.)
It was as the light struck his revolver, that Cody realized there was still one way to get at the latch. Pausing in the light, he tried to recall just how many times he'd pulled the trigger. Maybe three shots? He had four left in the cylinder before he needed to reload.
He headed back to the latch and decided it might be worth a shot--literally. He raised his gun without hardly thinking about it, he was that familiar with his gun and fired; careful to ensure that any possible ricochet would not hit him.

The latch fell open at the first shot, and a ladder slid down, barely missing Cody in it's fall. Above looked dark, but there was no whispers...

Jocelyn nodded, following him through the tunnel. She glanced around nervously, wondering where on earth they were going and where they were. She had the sinking and hopeless feeling that she was going to be stuck here. She ran a hand through her jet black hair, that was still soaked with blood. She felt disgusting, and all she could smell was the slight copper from the blood.

the tunnel turned, and opened. She was stading on a platform, maybe 5 foot deep. Against a sheer cliff wall, where an empty abyss plummeted below her. The wall was a dark, almost bloddy flesh tone, and though it was just rock, it looked like screaming faces.
The man continued walked, staying close to teh wall.
"Almost there..."

Cody flinched and jumped away from the ladder before recognizing it for what it was. He holstered his revolver before climbing up.
"Next place I go, I'm buying a flashlight," he muttered to himself--conveniently forgetting that he didn't carry one because it would reveal his presence. When he reached the top of the ladder, he paused to pull his gun out again, before peeking out to assess the situation.

Jocelyn looked at the wall in horror, continuing to follow the man. She looked off the ledge, gulping as she could see nothing but darkness. How far down did this place go? She already felt like she was miles underground with how cold it was. She had goosebumps all over her skin, and she was shivering wishing she had worn better clothes than a halter top and a mini skirt.

The ladder went up for a good long ways. And when he finally came to teh top, it looked like it was the top of a platform of some sort. The sky was dark, but the moon shone through the clouds enough to give a little light.

Finally they stopped. The man had made a little outpost, something to sleep on and a small shelter.
"I dont know how to get out of this place... I've been searching for so long..."

Cody inhaled the fresh air like a man who'd been stuck underground for too long. Carefully he stepped away from the ladder and made his way to the edge of the platform. How high up was he? If memory served him, Archenstein Hall was several stories high. A fall would kill him if he wasn't careful.
He looked around, wondering if he could find a way down other than the ladder. "Anyone got a rope?" he muttered to himself. Next time, he thought, he was going to bring a flashlight and a rope ladder.
