Alex walked around the new nieghtborhood that he stumbled along while running around in the woods and from Social Servies. Alex saw a grassy hill and lied down on it fixing his baseball hat over his eyes, taking a nap for awhile. The sun was warm and bright today and it calmed Alex better than anything else could. Alex moved his hands behind his head and lied there on the grass, sleeping away the meormies.
((Mind if I toss in a character?))
It was a nice day for sketching, Sarah thought as she wandered the neighborhood. Finding the perfect place to draw, however, was like finding the perfect subject: it only happened once in a blue-moon. She was about to give up when she spotted the grassy hill. Perhaps a new perspective would work better, she thought.
She climbed halfway up before realizing someone was sleeping on the hill. A boy, it looked like. She smiled half to herself as she saw how relaxed he was, how completely at ease he seemed. She plopped down where she was and opened up her backpack to retrieve her sketchpad and pencils. Within a few deft strokes of her pencil, she had begun a basic outline of her sketch wondering who the boy was and why he was napping on a hill.

Alex moved his hat out of his eyes and saw a girl sketching something. He raised an eyebrow at her. Alex stood up and walked over to her and looked over her shoulder to see what she was drawing. Alex was suprise to see she was it. "You're drawing me?" Alex asked looking at her.
Sarah jumped, losing her grip on her pencil, knocking over the rest of her art supplies, and leaving an ugly pencil mark on the page where a soft line should have been.
She looked up to find the kid peering over her shoulder and then at the vacant spot where she'd been drawing him.
"Oh, is... I'm sorry! I should have asked. It's just that you looked so peaceful, I couldn't help myself..." Flustered, she grabbed for her art supplies and began to stuff them into her backpack.

"It's okay, you weren't bothering me but I was wondering what you were doing." Alex started to help the girl pick up her art supplies. "The names Alex."
Sarah paused to look at him and mustered a smile. "Oh, uh, I'm Sarah. I'm sorry, I don't usually draw people without permission. It's a bad habit...like taking someone's picture without permission..." She was babbling and with effort she swallowed and stopped talking.
"Thank you," she said when he handed her the art supplies. "Um, I don't think I've seen you before. Why were you sleeping on the hill?"

"I was just wondering around this nieghtborhood and just fell asleep when I lied down to rest up some." Alex smiled at Sarah, picking up an ersar off the ground and handing it to her.
Sarah accepted the eraser and then looked at Alex. "How long were you walking for? You live nearby, don't you?" For some reason he looked familiar, though she couldn't place from where or when.
Alex shrugged. "I just moved in a house with my foster partens. I've been walking around since morning, trying to get an idea of what this place look like." Alex pointed down the road towards a wooden house ten or so blocks down.
Sarah smiled. "Oh, well welcome to the neighborhood! It's not so bad here--I like sitting on the hill and drawing; and I've heard there's a pond hidden somewhere behind the local library. Not a whole lot of people know of it, which is kind of nice, but makes it difficult to locate."
She frowned briefly and then looked at Alex again. "If you want, and if you have time, we could go look for it."

Alex smiled too. "I have plenty time on my hands, I haven't met anyone else besides you here yet. I wouldn't mind going to the pound with you at all."
"Awesome! Maybe it could become our secret hangout--providing we find it. The library's this way." Sarah turned to lead the way to the library, which was a brisk ten minute walk from the hill.
"Also, there are a few other kids in the neighborhood--they attend the local high school--and I think one of them lives across the street from you. So, where did you move from?"

Alex followed right beside Sarah. "I moved here form England." Alex didn't talk too much to new people but he wasn't shy.
Sarah gaped at him. "England! Have you always lived there? This must be pretty different for you then." She trailed off, suddenly conscious of his circumstances.
"Sorry, that was rude of me. I've only ever grown up here with my parents and I haven't seen a whole lot of the world. I'd like to, one day, but I don't know if that will ever happen." A slightly haunted look crossed her face.

"It is okay, not very common to meet someone out of your conutry, America isn't very different form England besides of not having a queen." Alex smiled at Sarah showing what she said didn't seem rude to him.
"Oh, well, I guess." Sarah hesitantly matched his smile and then looked away, embarrassed.
"So... I guess dumb questions aside, what do you usually do for fun?"

Alex shrugged. "I usually read, write, and walk around to see my surrondings, what about you?"
Sarah grinned wryly. "I read a lot, too, and sketch in my free time." She hesitated briefly and then shrugged. "I prefer walking to other means of travel too. What do you write? Prose or poetry?"
"Stories and poetry, nothing special. I left my writings that home." He shrugged, he was trying to make it seem like nothing, when his poetry can be dark, it was his way of letting out his feelings of his past.
"Aww, that's too bad. I would have liked to read them--if you'd let me, that is." She flushed and hugged her sketchbook to her chest. "If you don't want to though, that's fine too. Sometimes it's hard to, uh, let go of something."
