The knight gave a nod to both. He was glad that their third party member had prepared for the journey, however there was a hope they'd not need the potions at all. The knight-errant did one last check to make sure all of his gear was secure. He made sure his armor was attached properly and that his sword was securely in its sheath and that the sheath was secure on his belt. The large man gave one final nod to indicate being ready to go. Before stepping outside he lifted his hood and made sure his cloak was secure.

Following the elf Genhai headed out the door into the chilling wind. The knight smirked "Eslah is with us today, take the winds as a good sign." He'd look back to the party "Let us trek on then. These people cannot suffer anymore by the hands of the undead." He'd begin to head for the southern gate. Along their walk he would take the time to greet people as they went. Knowing who he was fighting for gave him strength. He'd need that extra strength, he felt it in his bones.

Morrison nodded at them and slightly tiled his head at their comments about the chilly wind. His thick robes and mask shielding him from the cold quite well. He followed the two while pulling a round-bottomed flask out of his bag and staring at the greenish liquid inside of it. He smiled slightly to himself underneath the mask before putting it back in his bag, only to pull out a jar containing a black/grey-ish sand like powder. He chuckled to himself and poured a drip on his fingers, rubbing them against eachother before throwing it in the air, making small explotions happen. Like tiny fireworks. It being more of a snapping sound then an actual explotion.

((Apologies for the slow reply guys!))

The elf gave a small glance back towards Morrison at the spectacle, giving him a weak smile should he have seen her do so. Yet she remained silent, maintaining her pace and not faltering until the gates were within sight.

One of the guardsmen, upon seeing the trio made a gesture to his mate and the two of them moved to open the large , makeshift portcullis that had been resurrected to repel the undead. Archers could be seen lining the wall above; their gaze ever vigilant to the distant forest which could just be seen past the iron gate.

Nessa gave a small nod in thanks to the men once the barrier had risen enough to pass through, and made her move to pass through. “Please, watch yourselves out there. If anything doesn’t go to plan, you come straight back.” One of the two men exclaimed to the party. News had spread throughout the guards that the three intended to venture into the forest.

The elf trained her eyes on the horizon, noting the line of trees that marked the direction of their target. The landscape beforehand was clear of any threat, it seemed; the road ahead absolutely void of any sound or movement.

Genhai turned his head briefly to look at the small explosions. What was the point? This Morrison seemed to be off, but that wasn't his concern and it wouldn't be warranted to say anything. Perhaps he was trying to ease the tension in the air and if that was the case it was a nice try. Though it did seem to the knight that these people had so much dread lately that a little show wasn't going to pep them up that much.

Genhai took time to examine the fortifications and then men manning them. It truly was a big issue. Despite the serene and peaceful scene before them. That was a problem in of itself. It was quiet and far too much. No life seemed to echo out of the forest in front of them. He didn't like that one bit.

"This does not bode well. It is almost as if the forest itself was seized as a natural fortress for the deceased" He turned his head to the elf "Let us press onwards. There is much to do." " and with that the knight headed forth on the forest path.

Morrison followed the party as they kept on walking. All while playing with his small fireworks, seeming to enjoy himself with it quite a bunch. He reached in his bag and grabbed some more of the fireworks, now throwing them in the air, Creating a much louder bang which seemed to scare him a bit aswell. Not having expected such a loud sound.

"Uhh.. whoops.." He mumbled while looking at the other two, wondering how they'd respond to what he just did. "That uh.. was supposed to happen! Yes.. totally."

Nessa gave Genhai a small nod in agreement, and began to set off after the man, matching his pace easily. “I hate to think the affect this has had on the wildlife here, let’s be cautious.” Her voice was grave in it’s tone. She flinched however, as the sudden crack of Morrison’s dabbling echoed in the early morning air. A couple of crows took flight from their perch in a distant tree. The trio would almost notice the sharp intake of breath from the men on the wall, who had witnessed the spectacle.

She turned an incredulous look towards the man behind them; glancing from his hands to his masked face. “Perhaps it would be in our interest to remain quiet from this point on, Morris.” She glanced back towards the forest nervously, hoping the explosion hadn’t drawn the attention of any undesirables. Her tone was blunt, but not unfriendly. “We may need all the resources we have later, if the situation out there is worse than expected.

The elf gave a final glance back to the man, beckoning for him to follow silently, before continuing on her way; her eyes now nervously scanning the tree line as they grew ever closer to it. She drew some small measure of comfort that up until that point, the crows seemed to be the only thing disturbed by the noise.

Genhai nodded in agreement. Whatever or whoever was behind this was slowly edging a force of darkness towards the city. If it kept up the forest might overtake the city and use it as a fortress. If they took the city they would have an abundant supply of undead as well as access to ships. Perhaps that was their endgame. Ships would grant them access to more of the world and their undead empire would grow.

He however didn't have much time to think about it as the sound of the explosion made him dive for cover. Battle nerves sent him behind the nearest large rock or tree and he glanced about looking for whoever or whatever was attacking them. Though it was Nessa's voice scolding Morrison that relieved him. He stood up and dusted himself off. A silent but stern look was given to the doctor. With that he turned back to the forest and headed forth. No more words were needed it was just time to work.

"Ugh.. fine fine.. " He replied, sounding slightly annoyed now. He let out a sigh and kept looking around, trying to think of something he could do to prevent getting really bored and annoyed aswell. He started mumbling to himself, finding talking to the other two a bad idea as they'd just nag at him so he'd be quiet again. Stupid people and their boring boringness. Never some risk or fun. Only serious missions and silence!

As the trees loomed ever nearer, Nessa’s sense of unease grew further. It didn’t take long for them to reach the forest’s edge, it’s silence far more foreboding up close. The wind was less severe here, but still made the trees dance; shifting uneasily and whispering what seemed like warnings through their leaves.

The elf caught her breath, stopping just before the first tree that marked their descent into the darkness of the forest; what little sunlight broke through the canopy of leaves still left the ground feeling damp and dark. Her eyes were well adjusted to travel in the dim, but Nessa glanced towards her two companions, unsure whether it would hinder their progress.

Perhaps it will lighten as the day grows.” She breathed, barely a whisper to them both. She motioned for them to gather round as she indicated what she believed to be the most direct route. “If we follow the road about a mile south, then leave to travel west, we should then have a good starting point for finding...” She gave an unsure glance towards them both. “...well, whatever is the cause for all this trouble.

Her hazel eyes traced the outline of the road as it meandered deep into the trees; the path seemed clear. “If we’re to find any trouble, my guess is the worst shall be at that point. Though we best keep our eyes open for signs of the patrols that were lost on the road deeper in.” The elf gave a small nod to the pair - a nod that was as much to strengthen her resolve as theirs.

She took her first step into the silence of the trees, a hand reaching warily for the longbow that was strapped to her back. Nessa didn’t voice her concerns about the lack of apparent wildlife, but she believed the absence to be obvious, and that fact alone told the elf that they weren’t alone in the area.

It wasn't seconds after that when they hit the edge of the woods that something happened with the knight. Genhai stumbled a little as a burning sensation washed over him. It was slow at first but there it was. That glow that he had become accustomed to. There was certainly a great evil nearby and the glow would only get stronger as they trekked. Regaining himself the knight responded "It won't get lighter. Whatever is behind this holds a deep darkness over the forest." He'd turn his head to Nessa "You may be right. The first line will be their strongest point of resistance, that is until we reach the source." He'd rub his arms. The burning didn't go away but he was getting used to it. Unfortunately for his companions he was something of a beacon. He looked to the pair "Perhaps it would be best if I trekked a different path. I'm afraid that my circumstance may hinder us" he'd look to them both "You both are more suited to stealth as it is. Hopefully I shall provide an ample distraction for you both to find the source of this darkness"

He looked out into the woods. He too realized they weren't alone, and his curse just gave away their location. It would be better in Gen's mind if they went on without him. He could handle himself.

Morrison was paying just as good attention to the other two as he normally did with other people, which wasn't good -at all-. He couldn't be bothered with making all sorts of plans and strategies to fight this ongoing evil exept for his favorite plan, which worked most of the time: Step one: Walk in. Step two: Hack away at your foes. Step three: Blow shit up. He kept repeating those steps in his head while looking at the sky, somewhat looking like a child walking throught the forest now. Eventhough he had little experience fighting undead it shouldn't really prove a problem due to his well prepaired gear. He had plenty of potions and elixirs to take care of the living dead right here, ranging from explosives to napalm. "Perhaps napalm isn't such a great choice here... allthough i wonder how badly the forest would burn if i were to use it here.."

The elf glanced back over her shoulder as the knight-errant stumbled, her ears picking up on the irregularity of his footfalls easily in the silence of their surroundings. Even her own breath seemed to fill the air around her. She cast Genhai a look of concern. “...Are you all right, Genhai?” She furrowed her brow slightly at the suggestion of breaking up, and shook her head stubbornly. “No; we’ve agreed to the task together, we should see it through together.

As she spoke, she caught a glimpse of a dark shadow move towards the edge of her vision, but as she turned to glance in that direction she saw nothing. She paused, before continuing the conversation; reluctantly turning her vision back towards the man. “More than the undead roam these woods, after all. Who knows what other things lurk in the darkness.

Her attention was drawn to Morrison at those last words of his, a look of worry on her face. “ ‘Burn’?” She blinked. “The forest may be overrun, but this forest is still home to a great many. Plus with us inside... I would ware what ‘things’ you use.” She of course referred to his potions and elixirs; Nessa was hardly knowledgeable in the field, but she worried that suddenly the undead was not their only hazard. She eyed Morrison warily, wondering whether Genhai and herself were about to truly begin their journey with a pyromaniac of sorts.

With her bow by her side, and an arrow casually notched in place, she began to venture further from the forest exit, stealing a final glance towards them both, and to the open air of the growing dawn. “Now if you will, we should get going; I’d imagine we should make the most of the day whilst it’s upon us.

As Nessa continued down the path, that ever present feeling of something watching the trio grew in the pit of her stomach. Her watchful gaze scanned over the trees that loomed on both sides of the road, their leaves barely twitching in the still air. Unsure if it was her imagination, the odd shadow shifted in the edge of her vision now and then, as she continued to hold her weapon steady in her hands.

Should the others also allow their gaze to venture to the distant branches in the dark, they might also vaguely see the outlines of some large cobwebs, growing ever more dense the further they took the road into the forest.
