What is ANOTHER type of Apocoliptic ending that would make a good story setting.

Waterworld. Massive global flooding. Or contrarily, massive global dehydration.

... a 5th season appearing. one that causes radioactive flares.

The Earth's Oceans being flash fried by a solar flare. Turning the world into a desert and making water a currency.

Hramn's post-apoc, and his was brought about by trying to tamper, contain & control magic

Massive worldwide volcanic eruptions? The ash could block out the sun for ages, turning the world into a frozen desert. Few plants could grow, animals would begin to starve, the air would be hard to breathe, and any survivors could die of ash accumulating in their throats and lungs I believe, or of starvation, with much fewer plants and animals. Not to mention global temperatures would decrease. Wouldn't be so much of a NO GOVERNEMNT EVERYONE IS DEAD. Could be a semblance of government that is poorly trying to control what is left of their populations.
