On the outer rim world of Rylon, where the merchants gather for an annual tradition where they take the most rare thing and swap with another to show a sign of trust and respect. At the sector 4B starport there was a 400 meter long ship that was docked and supplying the local merchants with their usual belongings. A single man wearing a full suit of Elite Military grade armor and full helmet signing off some papers to a merchant and saying in a low husky voice. "I may be a bounty hunter but that doesn't mean I'll let my home traditions go to waste simply because I'm travelling." and shortly after he gave the merchant a pat on the shoulder and he stood in front of the open hangar bay as he watched all the merchants walking around.
Being on vacation and not doing her duties is quite nice from time to time. As Erica walks through the busy starport, she was amazed by all the merchants selling rare goods. She took out her journal from satchel that is underneath her white cloak and jotted down what she sees. As she walks with journal in hand she sees a man wearing a full set of advance armor and a helmet, he looks like more a fighter than a merchant. Taking an interest in his appearance she walks out the busy lane and starts to sketch the man as he waits by the hanger.
One after another merchants would come by and give Walther an item and in return Walther would give them something he thought was special. He gave them all a small pendant which all the local merchants seemed to love. It was a small golden lined silver pair of wings. Soon a trooper comes out of the hangar in a rush and confronts Walther "Rimmer! We caught something on the scanner, it's land locked so we can take it out with a few gunships" Rimmer nodded "Right I'll come with you and assess the situation personally I'll have someone man this station while I'm gone." Rimmer and the trooper ran inside the hangar bay and a normal crewman came out and took over Walther's job
Erica got a little fusterated when the man rushed off since she wanted to finish the drawing. Seeing some of the merchants getting a nice pendant sorta intrigued her. She wakes up to the crewman that replaced the man in the suit and looked at him through her glasses and asks "So much for those pendants?" She told there determine to know even though her appearance gives off a short book shy girl wearing a cloak that covers her head to ankle.
The crewman smiled and picked one up holding it out for Erica "It's on the house, from Walther Rimmer himself" and as soon as he finished that sentence four gunships came rocketing out of the hangar bay. table cloths blowing in the wind, merchants looking up in awe, and the roar of the gunships engines as they flew off. Walther in his cockpit commed the other gunships "Alright we're going to do a simple tag and takedown follow my lead." and as the gunships approached the target they launched their flares sticking to the beast that was trailing towards the merchants. It was a large lizard like beast that resembled a Komodo Dragon in essence. It was dubbed the Desert Stalker and it was dangerous to any normal person if encountered on foot, however, thanks to the gunships it was an easy target and they began firing on it. As it let out it's roar the laser bombardment tore through it's scaly hide bit by bit.
She looks at the gunships and took note of them in her journal before she took the pendant with a smile. "So who are you guys? Hunters looking for trophy's?" She asks as she looks at the crew member with a interest in her eye as she puts her hand on her chin as she thinks about they would do against if they went up facing a couple of Dendrils.
The crewman stops to think for a second "Well under normal circumstances we're considered a clan of bounty hunters but Walther doesn't like to be called that since he also helps local organizations and his own home, I'm not sure but there was a time he called us uh... mando... something I don't remember." and he let out a soft chuckle. The roars of the Desert Stalker could still be heard as the bombardment continued and the gunships were now circling around the beast firing in a sequence of three round burst and the next gunship in line had begun shooting until the giant lizard had fell and soon the gunships were going to return.
She nodded her head as he heard who they are. "So presume the man who was standing here is this Walther?" She asks in quizyly trying to piece together who the man is since he stood out than a typical merchant. She glances at outside seeing the gunships heading back in, examining the ships.
The crewman nodded "The man in full armor is Walther Rimmer, a well respected man around here and for good reason." The sound of the gunships engines came closer as the crewman looked over at them "There was a time when all of us here owed him our lives, to this day I like to think we still do and so we work with him to do what we can." And with that said the gunships began flying in the hangar one by one, with Walther setting his on autopilot and jumping out next to the crewman "Thanks Nicholas I'll take over from here" and Nicholas nodded returning to his post with Walther turning to Erica "Welcome to the Night's Revelation, I can see you already got one of our pendants."
She a slight chuckle and said "Thanks for the pendant" she looks at Walther with more closely and said "Interesting name, Night's Revelations, has a certain ring to it. It actually sounds like something from one of my books" as she pulls out a book from her satchel labeled "The Raven " by the ancient author Edgar Allen Poe. "She chuclkes again and says "It'll be funny if your motto is Never More" After recovering from her little jest she looks at him once more and says "Where I'm my manners, I am Erica Codsworth, pleasure to meet you" she puts her hand out to shake. She understood her name isn't so well known around the Galaxy being known as the head of an infectious alien race, but for her she is confident that this Walther fellow doesn't know. But would be awfully surprise if he did...
Walther shakes Erica's hand "I don't recognize you from around here. Welcome to Rylon ma'am, and welcome to Port Chester home to merchants of all trades" Walther then took a second to sit on the deck "Ugh you don't know how long I've been standing for" and he let out a soft chuckle "Like you would not believe it" and h laughed some more. to his surprise he heard Erica mention The Raven and found himself in a curiosity "So you're into old literature like that? What else do you read?" he asked with great interest. Of all the times he had heard someone mention a book he never heard someone speak of an original Edgar Allen Poe piece and so he became quite desirable to know what else she came to know.
"Oh I read a lot of old literature, from Tall tale heart from the same author and my most favorite is 20,000 leagues under the sea" she says as her face lights up in happiness seeing someone is interested in the same books she likes. "My library has almost all of the old literature" she adds a large smile on her face becomes more apparent. Little did he know how extensive her library is truly.
"Well it sounds like I'm going to be borrowing a few books from you some time" he adds with a chuckle "Speaking of stories..." he pauses and rolls on his back with his arms in the air "I could tell stories all day about adventures I've had. ranging from daring rescues, to just useless and meaningless tasks like delivering a package" and he kept laughing. Later a crewman walked up to Walther and looked down "Sir? We've got an unknown transmission from somewhere, and it sounds like a distress beacon to us. We need you to hear it" And Walther gave an abrupt sigh looking over at Erica "Would you like to come with? I've got open spots for the trip" he offered still lying on the ground
She smiles at Walther and says "Well I like my vacations to have a bit of adventure in them, so sure" she her face showing eagerness in coming with them. Something a little different than just taking notes of things and drawing. "I guess I have to pay you somehow" she states as she startes going through her pockets to find some credits.
Walther slowly urged himself onto his feet and gave Erica a pat on her shoulder "don't worry about payment this one is on the house as are most of my things" and Walther turned to the inside of the hangar bay and shouted "Alright everyone ready up we're moving on a target!" and soon the whole crew was moving about and some even rushing because their station was on the other side of the ship. Walther began walking further into the bridge and motioned for Erica to follow "Come on follow me, I'll show you to the bridge"
"Oh while thank you" she replies being a little surprised at his response in not paying. As she follows him she states in a flirtatious tone"With all this free stuff, one could think you are trying to woo me in" she then chuckles. As she looks around the ship impressed on its built she says to him "You do know its not my first time being on the bridge on a ship? I been on many" even though she is being boastful about it, she sercetly wanted to see how this captain sets up his bridge...for future buildment of her ships she commissions to build.
Even though she couldn't see it Walther was smirking under his helmet "Well maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. Who knows these days?" he said with a flail of both his arms and as they were walking they came to an elevator. Pressing the button to summon the elevator it was going to take some time to arrive "Besides, it's always a bonus for anyone if they can surprise anybody with their ship and other things." he chuckled "But nevertheless I get the feeling this operation is more than search and rescue. I mean who wouldn't? it's from an unknown usually there's a captain's name as the sender but nothing? something's going on" he explains and crosses his arms for the moment thinking.
She takes out her journal and starts to write in it. "From what I know now, this will be an interesting mission because of the lack of info" she looks up in the ceiling in thought. "Or this could be a very large elobrate trap if you made any enemies in your line of work" she states as she looks at him. "But i think it's highly unlikely though" she reassures him. She then takes off her hood exposing her raspberry colored hair in a short pony tail. "Ah that feels better" she says as she looks at him and gives him a smile.
Walther was lost in thought for a moment An unusual one already, I guess I still have plenty to see and he gave a sigh. Unhooking the seals holding his helmet on he twisted his helmet off his head and wiping his face with his glove "Ah some fresh air may help" he had a very trimmed jaw line with a shadow of a beard connecting with his sideburns. Along his right eye there was a scar that ran vertically across his navy blue eye. "So let's see, well I find it would be hard to believe it would be a rescue operation due to the lack of information simply because it has pirates written all over the silence" and he rubbed his furry chin "But from the sector codex the area hasn't been visited by anyone, not even pirates so I'm left to blank" he stated and soon the elevator drew open and he held the door open for Erica to step in.
She smiles as she walks in and says "Why would you hide a face like that? You look handsome" she gives him a cheery smile. "But yes back to serious business, how can you be certain that no one has been in there? In doubt, unregistered space craft and space craft with stealth capabilities can easily go in there and not be detected" she states looking at him with a much more serious look. "I wouldn't rule out pirates since there are well funded pirates out there" she adds as she looks forward.
