There was a thunderous sound from below, the vehicle climbing over small piles of debris. The commander of this tank sat in his spot, and looked around at his crew. "How you doing fellas?" Harris asked.
He grumbled as his head hit against the various instruments in front of him due to the jolt of the vehicle. The man rubbed his forehead warily, muttering curses under his breath.
"This detour is a miserable one. Couldn't we have taken the longer and less convenient path?"
"This detour is a miserable one. Couldn't we have taken the longer and less convenient path?"
Harris looked back at hos faithful crew. "I didn't get too much intel on this area. Had I known it would be like this we would have gone the other way." Harris hadn't spent much time with this crew as they all just got assigned together. "Might as well talk a bit. Where you from?" He asked.
Miles was already too use to being thrown around by the armoured vehicle while it advanced forward to mind the rough terrain they were now travelling over. He agreed though that this ride could have been more pleasant and frowned to himself while he listened to the other two men. For now he chose to exclude himself from the conversation, partially because he was generally awkward around people he didn't know well and partially because he preferred to be a silent observer.
As their commander proposed they talk, Miles shifted so he was partially turned to him and gave him a brief glance as though to make it clear he was listening but waited for someone else to answer.

He took some time before responding.
"Sweden. I'm from Stockholm, specifically, you know. Where the women are beautiful and the nature is astoundingly pure. And you? Where are you from, captain?"

"That would be from the great state of Georgia, he Appalachian mountains. Some of the biggest rednecks ever to grace this earth live there." He said as the ran another bump over. "We are coming near the end of this road, turn 90 degrees left and head down that road."
He grumbled as he made the directed turn.
“So what’s supposed to be out here, boss? I didn’t get briefed on what was going on, so mind if you can fill me in a bit? I mean, where are the others? We’re like miles away from any visible reinforcements or the such.”

"Just a scouting soldier. Nothing much should come out of it. This place was just cleared and leveled yesterday, so we are here to keep out the NK." He told his crew. (Btw the driver pos is said to be themost comfortable in the tank.)
The reason behind their so far casual scouting run was already known to Miles but he sighed audibly when their commander explained it and reminded him. He slouched in his seat, seeming very much like a grumpy child who was forced to sit still when he would rather be doing something else, and fumbled with a loose string on his sleeve to distract himself from the slow passing of time. At this point he was unsure if he was hoping the rest of the drive would be just as uneventful as it had been so far and end shortly or if he was wishing someone would appear and provoke some action.
"...We've got contact boss."
He pointed ahead, where a speckle in a distance seemed to be moving closer to them. Drake cut the engines, unsure whether he should continue or not.

Harris screamed at Drake "Turn them back on soldier! Get behind cover." He said this and called via radio the base they had left from. "We have a possible hostile and about 700 meters northwest of our locayion, how should we proceed over." There was no answer for a moment or two. "Do not engage until you know it is hostile. How copy over." Came throught rhe speaker of the radio. "Solid copy. Over." Harris sent back. "You heard him men, either way get us out of sight."
Miles turned his full attention to the driver as he spoke but then hurried to search for the unknown vehicle and had it in sigh shortly after. His mood shifted rapidly and his behavior changed to fit the situation at hand. Now alert, he continued to listen, waiting for orders, and turned the turret of the tank to keep the gun pointed towards the potential enemy.
He shifted the tank into reverse, kicking up dirt in front of them and propelling the tank behind a building. The other tank was out of sight, and hopefully they were out of the tank's sight as well.
"Boss, I'm going to cut the engine to conserve fuel and make us undetectable on the sonogram. I suggest we don't make any sound."

Harris nodded and called over radio command saying "This is Boulder 1-1, we have no eyes on nearby tank and need eyes on hostile tank. We are at grid coordinates 0 5 7 Yankee Golf over." The operator on the other emd barely hesitated to say "All units with eyes on 0 5 7 Yankee Golf, find boulder 1-1 and possible hostile." A minute later the man came back. "Boulder 1-1 this is command, a recon team nearby has eyes on tank. Patching them to you over." Suddenly another voice came over speaker. "Boulder 1-1 this is Ghost 2, Ghost 4 has eyes on heavyily armored NK tank, be advised they are about 400 meters northwest you position. Thats all we can give, we can keep eyes on for 10 mor minutes but then we need to leave how copy over." "Solid copy, over." Said Harris. He stayed silent from then on, and waited for it to come near into sight or for ghost to warn them.
