I know I am doing something wrong: how exactly am I able to show gifs on profiles? Is there something special I have to put for them to work?

Like a widget, or like icons? Because for widgets, just do the same as you would to show pictures, with the little 'picture' icon above, you know, the tree. For icons, I don't have a clue. Sorry I'm not that much helpful!

You need the gifs to be uploaded someplace that lets you put it on other sites, like Imgur. Ensure the image URL ends with .gif - if it ends with anything else, it won't work! Then just use the image BBCode to place the image in the profile.
