And a quick link to basic plot
There is a celebration of a new building in town. It's supposedly a big thing as a good few dozen handfuls of people have gathered. In the middle of the announcements a fire alarm breaks out. Should be just a silly misshappening, but the people are supposedly directed into a safe room for the duration of the alarm until the misshappening would have been taken care of. It takes a lot longer than expected though, and people are starting to grow restless. It's like something bigger and maybe unexpected would be going on.
Are you curious enough to find out?
Are you curious enough to find out?
The blonde yawned, rubbing some boredom-induced sleepiness off his eyes. It hadn't been long since the crowd had been moved to the space under the building, maybe a couple of hours, two at most. Nothing had happend during that time, everyone was silent. Occasionally a few questions would break the silence, but it wouldn't grow into a full chatter between the talkers as no-one seemed to know each other all that well.
What a mess. And to think he wasn't even able to grab himself one of the scarce chairs they had set around in the room.
No, he shouldn't be joking around at a time like this. He might have been off-duty for these few days, but it seemed that the Welsh wouldn't be getting to keep his little break of freedom just yet. And to think that spending time at the re-opening of some grand building wasn't going to be more than a few minutes off his uneventful day.
Connell sighed and leaned against one of the doors, hoping that soon the situation at hand would be over and he'd be able to return to whatever it was that he was going to do next. For now he was just stuck looking around the room, examining the people in there, perhaps on the off-chance he'd actually recognize someone...
Éva stood among the crowd, sharp green eyes alight with furtive glances. These sort of crowds could get out of hand real fast in a situation like this, and she really didn't want to be at the bottom of any kind of dogpile. With everybody cooped up, tension rose as sharp as aged cheddar, and Éva's mood was no less sensitive. The canid was actually dressed in that formal way government workers tend to be, all dark in suit and slacks. But more worthy of note, she'd been part of the crew which escorted folks into this place, which probably earned her a few uneasy looks.
Perhaps to Connell she was familiar, or at least her badge might look so; she worked with Section 6, a strange government entity that really didn't fit the profile of 'legitimate agency', and looked more like the sort of thing one would expect to hear about from conspiracy theorists. No external oversight, no political officials, and nobody could even confirm the agency's existence. But to the layman, it was just another badge with yet another vague government title. And to be fair, Éva hadn't done anything too out of line.
But whether she knew Connell or not, her focus seemed to be on keeping herself alert to the load of folks contained here.

Please excuse my delay; reality stepped in the way.
Amongst all the humans and canids alike, Connell would not find any clues towards solving the situation. People were just as lost as any of the other. Frustrating. Anyway, it was probably better for at least the Walesian to keep his cool and at least try acting like nothing was bothering him, even if some weaker minded people had already started suspeting some abnormalities. Must have been spending too much time on the Internet or whatever.
One person did cach his attention though, another canid just as tranquil as him. Or maybe not? Something about her felt... Off somehow... Like he would have known her or at least seen her before... Was she just a passerby? A friend of his? A criminal? Probably not anyone Too significant, but he couldn't tell for sure from only half of her head.
The situation and some mixed feelings made him suspicious...
"Hey..! You there." The canid halfly shouted, just to ge her attention - and somewhat ignoring on what the others present would have done upon hearing himtalk and raise his voice just to talk over a few speakers. He wasn't planning on walking over to her in the crowd if she'd end up on not being anyone significant to him, but she had sparked an interest.
"Hey. Do I know you?" A conversation starter for sure. The blonde looked towards Eva, trying to get them to have eye contact. If she'd turn her head towards her, it would be easier for him to recognize her upon seeing the whole face. She did definitely remind him of something, and for now it was better than nothing at all in the middle of all these clueless beings...
