Hey look, another topic from Light.
So this is something I couldn't help but notice lately: Every time an active thread is up, I post. When I post, however... The thread goes quiet for the longest time, sometimes to the point of going dead. Like... Was it something I said?
I've dubbed this the "showstopper syndrome" (though I think there's another name for it): where, even though you've posted something relevant to the thread or topic to keep it going, the entire thread goes silent or dead for a long while. You know, like that one kid that comes up to a group of people just to say hello and everyone goes into an awkward silence.
I actually kinda find it funny in retrospect. Has anyone else been guilty of shutting down a thread this way, on here or anywhere else? Let me hear your thoughts!

To be honest, I did that once and I got very worried. One of my RPs still hasn't gotten another response. I have this feeling the others are just AFK or they just don't want to continue.

Really? That's actually happened to me once RP-wise... I usually tend to show stop in the forums. But with RP "showstopping," real life issues usually come into play, and I just cut them some slack when it comes to that. I really don't think it's a matter of not wanting to continue; I've seen you post a lot on here, and because of the quality, I think it's just a matter of "Wow, this post is so GOOD. ...H-how do I respond to such an amazing post," you know?
I think it's when they don't post for three weeks or more that you should start to worry and ask what's up.
I sometimes go through long peroids of silence when I RP. Last week, I kind of gotten over a depression period. Ihad a friend recently message me and said they were fine~

Often the off topic threads are just wrapped up fairly quickly - someone says something, someone responds, the general hivemind agrees but doesn't feel the need to post. At other times, and I'm especially guilty of this, people just get lazy and don't respond much/anymore to a topic. You haven't dumped gad on the forum server, so I'm pretty sure you sit fine with everyone .
The main factor, however, is that off topic stuff just doesn't get the traffic that the rp section does, ignoring the chat thread. We've got a average of 30-100 people on at any given time, but 80% of them are here for THEIR rp topics, if you see where I'm coming from.

Oh, no! I definitely see where you're coming from. But sometimes, it seems to even happen to me while I RP forum wise; I usually chalk those times up to real life issues or people losing interest in the RP.
It's just a random thing I couldn't help but notice from time to time. Honestly as long as I'm contributing, I'm just glad someone sees it, replies notwithstanding.
