How's it going everyone!

So, i have an issue that i have been trying to figure out, but, have had no luck in doing so!
I turn my search for answers to the wise guidance and thoughts of the community!

Here's whats up!

When i am posting, (para-post's mind you, so they take a few minutes, and thus, cause an issue...), i keep running into the occasional issue where my page freezes for but a moment, and then refreshes! Not constantly, but in mid typing, it will just do it. The whole page flashes like someone clicked my refresh button, and my posts get gobbled up and are painfully gone and needing to be typed back up! Its a pain in the bum-bum!!

Does anyone else have a similar issue like this? I almost feel like its only happening to me on RPR, too! Other websites that i have open for long periods of time dont do it. Just RPR...

Im running on Windows 10, and browse off Google Chrome.

It's not happening to me, but I also use google chrome, but I use windows 7. Not very helpful, but I thought I should mention it anyway.

Is there any possibility you are leaning on the "Ctrl" key, or that maybe some item on your desk is applying pressure to it?

It sounds like this is only happening while you are typing, which makes me wonder if somehow ctrl-r is being hit on your keyboard.

Nah, its not the Ctrl+R doing it. I have a pretty big gaming laptop, and the keys are all nicely spaced. Very hard to mistakenly press other keys.

What i think it is, is that the page changes that the text box is selected, and when you hit space or backspace when it is like that, it causes the page to either refresh or backup to the previous page... Im almost thinking its my Chrome or OS doing it, but cant narrow it down yet...

I have had the backup thing happen before, but I've never been able to ID what caused it. I thought it was a wrong key input, but I couldn't tell you how I pulled it off or why. It always happened so quickly.

Ive had a few strange issues on RPR with my typing over the last couple months, actually. The biggest one has disappeared over the last month or so though...

It used to be that while i was typing, my key inputs into the computer would slow. Like, a legit 1 second lag between when i press a key, and it showing up in the box... Then if i stopped typing, what ever my last key pressed was would Rapid Fire like 20+ times. Leave long streaks of the same key (Ex: Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo) or if i hit backspace it would delete half my post X_X

Im glad it doesnt to that any more, but this refresh thing can sometime be worse if it eats my whole post!!! X____X
At least im not alone haha. Maybe it will work itself out (Fingers crossed!)

Some things that might help here are clearing your cache, and disabling any add-ons you might have. Some add-ons when they activate or reload, force a page to refresh. The lag you were experiencing also indicates there might be a memory (RAM) issue with Chrome that is triggering all sorts of funky behavior. RPR is extremely light weight compared to other websites though, so if anything in Chrome is triggering that, it's not likely to be the site specifically. How old is your computer?

Another issue could be that while you're typing in Chrome (for short or long periods of time) there's a keyboard misconfiguration that pops up. I sometimes have that my keyboard will suddenly assign 'backspace' to a different key, with letters and characters being 'scrambled' across the keyboard. It's very possible that one of your regular typing keys gets assigned the F5 button, which forces a refresh. I'm not sure how to prevent this though. Keep an eye out for any funky characters, see if that happens?

Make sure that Chrome is fully up to date (go to chrome://help/ in a new tab and make sure it says updated to latest version) to rule out any bugs that have been fixed recently.

Another tip, make sure your mouse is not bumping against your arm while you type! I've had a lot of mishaps happen before because I didn't notice I'd bumped into my mouse and it clicked something or made enter or backspace do weird things because of what the mouse had focused on.

Im going to try the Chrome Updates, maybe just reinstalling it fresh to see if that helps. Maybe i need to refresh Win10.
Ill do some poking around more and see what i dig up. If i conclude anything, ill certainly post it here so people know!

A temporary fix I think you may find helpful is installing the Lazarus Form Recovery plugin for Google Chrome (and Firefox). If the page refreshes and you lose your post, this will make sure you don't have to rewrite the whole thing!
