It probably is the peacock spider, in my opinion. I briefly checked out 'spider courtship dance' and that was what consistently came up. I think most female spiders eat the male after mating anyway but I could be wrong.

I wonder if I should browse through my Michael Chrichton books.

Perhaps it could be a wolf spider or a jumping spider?

Scorpions do mating dances but I dunno about dances of death.
