I went to disable the notifications because my phone has been reduced to a crawl, but i can't remove my device. Can you remove it from your end?

Being friends with someone doesn't trigger push notifications, though, just the ones on the homepage feed.

Raima is correct. Whenever you are friends with someone and they post, you get a notification - at least I do while I have this chat window open, I haven't tested it with it closed, and I can't turn them off.
