"What? I wasn't flushing--no reason!" He hastily answered, shaking his head for emphasis. He relaxed seeing that Red was more or less back to normal.

Bella leaned into Nex's nuzzle and then whacked him playfully with her tail before trotting in the direction she had seen Neo go.

"Yes you were!" Red exclaimed then she kissed him hard and deep. Pulling away a little, she smiled. "Tell me," she whispered.

Nex jumped up and ran over to Bella.

"It's embarrassing," Arien muttered, pulling away briefly, his eyes on the ground. "You know, when I tried to flirt and failed miserably."

Seeing that Nex followed, Bella leaped into a lope, following Neo's scent.

Red smiled and ran her thumb lightly across his cheek. "It was also cute," she murmured.
Standing up, she leaned down and kissed him deeply. Teasing him though, she stood up before he could kiss back and quickly disappeared into the tent.

Nex trotted after her and made sure to stay by her side.

"Well someone's feeling better," he mumbled to himself when Red left him behind.

He took a moment to check his wound, finding that the poultice was doing its job like it should. He wondered if that maybe had something to do with Red's reaction. If she'd left the poison in him, she wouldn't have been affected; but drawing it out meant coming into contact with it. He shook his head. Looks like he was back to mending himself.

Bella found Neo readily enough, though it was a long way from where Red and Arien were. She wagged her tail and went over to sniff him tentatively.

Red layed back and put her head on a pillow. Letting out a sigh, she closed her eyes.
Ash is gone..the threat is mostly over. she thought to herself.

Neo nudged Bella playfully when she came up to sniff him. He was fine, a little shaken that Red had wanted him to kill her but overall he shoulda been expecting it. But when he had felt her pulse on his teeth he just couldnt do it. He pulse had been quick and frightened. But it was over now and he could relax. Nex trotted up to Bella and stayed close to her but he looked at his brother.
"You ok?" he asked.
Neo nodded and listened to the noises around him.

Arien sighed and then crawled into the tent as well, after Red. He lay on his stomach, figuring the pressure would keep the poultice along with his stitches from pulling and bleeding. He sighed with relief as slowly his body began to relax and his muscles unknotted themselves.

"Mmm, if I don't wake up in the morning...just know I died comfortable." He closed his eyes and was out in the blink of an eye.

Bella licked tentatively at Neo, and then nudged him back; she was happy he hadn't hurt Red, though she hadn't understood why he'd leapt when he had.

Red looked at him shocked as he said that he might die. Then she relaxed when she realized he was only joking. Smiling, she watched him then sat up. Crawling out of the tent, she sat just outside.
"Crazy day.." she murmured before falling asleep by accident.

Neo stood up and waded into the stream.

Bella followed Neo into the stream, splashing around and snapping at the occasional fish that swam by. When she found a crawfish, she pawed at it and then whined when it tried to claw her.

Arien slept deeply for a few hours; the day's excitement and his injury catching up to him. But he rolled in his sleep and the stitches pulled, waking him to a sharp pain. He winced, eyes closed, as he took deep breaths. Apparently the numbness of the poultice only lasted so long. So he tried not to move, tried to keep his body from tensing up, but it was like telling someone to relax when they had scorpions dumped on them. It just didn't want to.

He opened his eyes and realized Red wasn't next to him. He started to sit up, felt pain, and then lay back down again. Right. He wondered if he could teleport to Red in this state, and then realized it was a bad idea. If he didn't pass out, he might end up somewhere completely different with no way to get back... Yeah, he was better off staying where he was.

Red slept a little longer than Arien and woke up to the sun setting. Sitting up, she looked around sleepily and crawled back into the tent. Not knowing Arien was awake, she curled up next to him. The burning oil she had put on her side was burning again. There were always side effects to her medicines. She never could get them exactly right, but Red was sure Arien was probably getting tired of the stitches.

Reaching over to her pack, she took out a pink vile. Every muscle and joint in her body protested with the movement. Putting it in her mouth, she turned to Arien and averted his face so she didnt wind up kissing and waking him. Unwrapping the wound, she took a dagger and sliced the threads apart.

He had felt her come back into the tent, but he was so focused on not being awake, that he almost convinced himself he was dreaming. Until he felt the stitches in his side beginning to part. And pain made him wince and clench his jaw.

"What are you doing?" he asked, his hands balling into fists as he forced himself to keep still. Now would not be the right time to flail unless he wanted another cut.

Red jumped in surprise and barely managed not to cut herself or Arien. "Im about to heal it completely. Im sorry if i hurt you.." she murmured.

Soaking a small cloth in the liquid from the pink bottle, she took his hand with her free one. Interlocking their fingers, she leaned down and kissed him. Then put the cloth to his cut, the pain from the liquid felt as if a thousand knives were stabbing you in the same place at the same time.

Red had no idea why her medicine always carried pain with it but at least it worked.

(ooc: I think it's the same with liquid medication--the nastier it tastes, the better it works.)

Arien curled his fingers around Red, grateful for the contact. He was further surprised by the kiss, and started to feel himself relax when burning, fiery pain lanced through his side. He tensed up all at once as he desperately deepened the kiss, trying to forget or at least mute the pain as much as possible.

His other arm released its hold on the blanket to wrap around Red and press her close. If he was going to be in pain, he wanted to make it worthwhile.

Red pressed her body to his and kissed him passionatly. The unfortunate thing about gashes, were that the medicine would have to stay on a few minutes longer than with burns. Red would do anything she could to gice Arien a distraction from the pain.

He squirmed beneath her, even though he knew it would do little good; beads of sweat formed and trickled down his forehead from the pain. He just wanted it to be gone, over and done with. But if she could deal with the pain of a burn; he could deal with a little flesh wound.

He was grateful for her attempts to distract him and he put as much of his thoughts toward keeping her in the front of his mind as possible. He wasn't aware that he held her tightly, perhaps a bit too tightly, in order to escape the pain. But looking into her eyes made it worthwhile.

Red was finding it harder and harder to breathe as Arien tightened his grip, but she didnt say anything. Seeing as how time was almost up and the pain would soon fade.
Putting her hand to his cheek, she gently ran her thumb lightly across his skin. Soon though, she had to break the kiss for air. Finally, time was up for the wound and she let go of the rag. It fell to the floor and Red was starting to see black dots.
"Arien.. Your holding too tight...cant breathe.." Red managed to say.

As soon as the cloth dropped from his side, Arien loosened his grip around Red. "Sorry," he gasped, panting. He was completely worn out although by comparison he felt no pain now. Of course, his arms and entire body felt like jelly...as his tense muscles loosened.

"That was horrible," he muttered, his eyes closing. "But thank you. It's good to be alive--even if it hurts like hell."

Red took a couple of breaths before she could say anything. "Im sorry," she murmured.
Taking a soft cloth, she wiped away the sweat beads and little trails on Ariens forehead and cheeks. She kissed him softly and smiled. "You did very good though," Red whispered.

Red was still holding Arien's hand and really she didnt want to let go.

He smiled at the praise. "Not as good as you, earlier." He opened his eyes with effort."You hardly even flinched. So is my wound all healed up? Or will I have another charming scar to add to my ever-growing collection?"

He didn't mind his scars; on the contrary he was rather proud of them. Once they had healed, of course.

Red smiled and rolled her eyes at his praise. "Yes but mine wasnt half as bad as yours. No sorry Arien, this one is all healed up and you dont get a scar for this one," she said lightly.

Red stayed in Arien's arms and relaxed against him. She wouldnt leave him till he felt better. Knowing he must be going through the weakness that comes after use, she put her head on his chest and traced light circles.
