A young girl with long blood red hair and black eyes ran from another village her father sent her to for supplies she can only get and she did. She stumbled into the woods surronding the village and slowed her breathing with a pouch in her hand. She looked in the pouch and sighed in relief to see that what she needed to get was there.

What the red headed girl didn't know was that she had been followed. A few trees away a shadow moved only slightly, hiding in its depths and escapee of the very underworld that she is to inherite. Xenon had stayed for weeks in the forest cave, only to find herself startled by an oddly familier scent. She climbed the tree to get a better look at the girl. A shiver ran up her spine. The girl was not who she though she was, too human in appearance and scent, but still alike the very devil that contained Xenon so many years ago. Xenon crept forward ever so slowly, not noticing that the branch that she had chosen was not as firm as she thought.

The girl felt the presnce of a shadow, she knew that either someone called upon the shadows for help or one got out. Unlike the other devil childern she didn't want anything to do with hell or her father, she just wanted to get through life. She looked around to find the shadow but she couldn't see it since it was dark outside. "H-Hello?" She whispered in the air in her quiet and slightly shaky voice.

Xenon perked up a bit at the sound, it wasn't what she expected. It also proved that the girl wasn't there to take her back, to enslave her once more. Satisfied, She began to creep back along the branch. She was halfway to the trunk when it snapped, tumbleing Xenon into the underbrush.

She walked slowly out of the brambles on all fours, as she finaly broke free of the thorns she began to pluck them out one by one. That was when she noticed that she was in plain veiw for the red headed girl to see.

She arched up like a cat and growled fearfully.

The girl was suprised the shadow's reaction to her. She clipped the pouch to the side of her pants and rised her hands up in the air to show she meant no harm. "I'm not going to hurt you." The girl said taking a step towards the shadow with her arms still up to show she wouldn't hurt it. "Let me help you." She pleaded, even though she was the Satan's daughter, she didn't act like him. She wasn't cold hearted, and most of all she didn't want to be part devil. She took another step towards the shadow, seeing that way it reacted to her it must be the one that escaped.

Xenon continued to growl, though softer, and backed up a pace. It was then that she felt a pain shoot through her leg and she whimpered just a bit before continuing to growl, shadow or not, an injured leg still hurt. Thorns and brambles stuck onto her like a spiked jacket and the deep blue veins that stretched accross her skin pulsed slightly.

The girl saw the shadow was hurt badly and didn't trust her. "Please, I promise to you I won't hurt you. I might be Satan's daughter, but does't mean I'm going to hurt you or take you back to the underworld, I don't even want to go back myself." The girl's black eyes shined with truth and every word she spoke was true. She took another step towards the shadow.

For some reason, Xenon believed her. She stopped growling, only a low grumble showing that she ever had. She hesitated, then slowly began to creep forward awkwardly. As she came into arms reach with the girl she hesitated. Slowly she sniffed the girl's hand, smelling the too familier scent. Her antennae pulled back, then softened as a new scent came forward, a human one. Suddenly she thrust her head into the girl's palm, seeming to pur.

The girl smiled at seeing that she gained the shadow's trust. She sat down infornt of the shadow and looked at the shadow's wounds. "Let me help you." She started to pull some of the thorns out of the shadow's right foreleg. "I'm Jean." She mumbled as she worked on getting the thorns out of the shadow's leg.

Xenon shifted, showing her injured leg to her newfound friend. She winced a bit as the barbs let go of her soft "skin". She listened to Jean and after a moments hesitation she used a clawed finger to carve her own name into the earth. Then she pointed to herself and grunted, indicating that the name was her own.

Jean understood what Xenon meant. "Xenon, I never saw you in the underworld before." Jean said as she started to find less throns in Xenon's leg. Jean had been shown the city that Satan was making for the dead by using shadows as slaves. "I guess you escaped before Satan made me agree to be and hier to the underworld." Jean mumbled with something of being trapped acrossed her eyes.
