((Insert narrator voice here...))
Once upon a time, in a far away land, there was a beautiful princess who was cursed....
((Wait! Wrong story. *Audience can hear papers rustling* Ahem... here we are...))
A long time ago, there were tales of a part of the ocean where ships were known for going missing...
((By God, it's the Bermuda Triangle! No... no, it's not. This is definitely the Bermuda Triangle! Just read it... Fine...))
What people on the outside would never know was that there was a cursed island... the Island of Alsaendra.
((Oh come on! She just respelled Alexandra to look cooler. Can you focus on the story? ... You spoil all my fun.))
A magical wall of mist often formed around the Island, shrouding it from the outside world... but within the wall, the Island was rich and green with a white city in the center. The forests of the island were known to be home to a variety of frightening creatures... many of which were known for eating men alive. What or who exactly had enchanted the island was unknown, even to its inhabitants who were peculiar creatures themselves.
((Half deer people, really?))
But, our story is about the time that a fish...
((Merperson! Fish... Merperson... same thing. *long silence* *Narrator voice humming Under The Sea* *Audience can hear a shout and running feet followed by more silence* I'll tell it myself, dammit.))
Our story is about the time that a merperson was washed onto the Island and met the Island's shaman...
((I TOLD THE WITCH DOCTOR! *A crashing sound, followed by a cat's yowl*))
As I was saying... Our story is about the time that a merperson was washed onto the Island and met the Island's shaman.
((WHO IS NOT A WITCH DOCTOR, ALAN!))
The night before there had been a terrible storm and as with every powerful storm caused by the magical nature of the island's shield from the outside, anything nearby was sucked into the storm and spit out on the island, including the aforementioned merperson.
(( *tired sigh* Cue the merperson...))

Questing upon the poop deck ended up not being easy for the poor Merman. For once he tried to stay dry, mingle with the people, and what happens? A storm tears the ship apart and drops Aearion the water anyway. Such is life for the poor Merman. He can never escape his heritage. The gods will make sure he ends up soaked one way or another.
Yeah and the loss of life was bad too, I guess.
Aearion found himself swimming in circles, only to find a strange island where he felt like he didn't belong. Wreckage and passengers were scattered everywhere around this beach, making for very macabre waypoints along the length of the beach. Yet somehow, the Merman couldn't get himself to leave. Something was here on this island. Something that called to him. Hopefully not literally, that'd be awkward.
With curious feet, Aearion walked down the beach and towards the seemingly luscious forest. Who knows, it could be survivors he'd find.

Unfortunately for the Merman, the natives of the island were already aware of the shipwreck, having seen some parts of it washing up on their shore. So, naturally, the scouts had run back to the city to alert their King of the potential danger of intruders upon their island. After all, in the past pirates had landed on their island by accident and despite attempts at being peaceful and inviting to them, the pirates opted to murder several warriors and a shaman. Because of this, the people of the island were no longer willing to trust outsiders who landed on their island.
Even as the Merman drew close to the forest, the first patrols of warriors were already within the treeline, spears, staves and bows prickling among the bushes.
((Oh no... the Lolicon army is coming to get youuu... run fishy!))
Pointing a spear at the merman, the first member of the patrol stepped out of the trees to where their upper-half would be visible over a bush. "Halt! You are surrounded."
((Ohhh nooo... they're going to kill him with cuteness.))
The area around him was suddenly teeming with life as the others moved to try to circle him, weapons all points directly at him.

Oh well this wasn't good. Besides the snooty remark of some OOC person, it would seem the bard got himself captured by some freaky deer centaurs! As if the Merman didn't get into enough trouble already. Scratch having a nice day off of the To-Do list, that's not going to happen.
The Merman immediately yelped that the sudden stampede of Deertaur."Whoa, whoa! Alright! I'll comply!" The Bard immediately said, raising his arms into the air as his knees started shaking. For some reason, cute little deerfolk managed to be scary when armed.

One of the Deertaurs who had some kind of fancy helmet on, with holes for his stubby baby antlers (some of the other soldiers had much bigger antlers) to poke out of, stepped forward and started waving his short sword threateningly. "You awe twethpathing on the pwopewty of the woyal family of Althaendwa!" He lisped out. "The pwithe fow youw cwime is death!"
((translation: You are trespassing on the property of the royal family of Alsaendra. The price for your crime is death.))
Keeping weapons pointed at the Merman, the Deertaurs started trying to get him to move into the forest. "Death by monster!"
"Feed him to the beasts!"
"We will feed you to the montherth of ouwa fowest!" ((Translation: We will feed you to the monsters of our forest.))
And so it was, that the Deertaurs began leading the Merman at spear point into the forest. Until they reached an area where there were some scattered bones around the bases of the trees and what looked like the remains of torn rope. But, just as the Deertaur soldiers began to force the Merman up against a tree...
((dun dun dunn..... No... nothing bad is gonna happen yet. Dammit.))
A new deertaur, dressed in a silken gown with flowers tied in her hair arrived and immediately demanded of the stubby antlered lisping captain. "What in the name of our goddess is going on here?!"
