They all think there's a war brewing. They're waiting for the day that sparks start flying and bombs start dropping. They're waiting, but they don't really think they'll ever be in true danger.

What the common man doesn't realize is that we're already at war, and we have been for ages. They don't realize that these creatures beginning to come to light are the ones that have been picking away their fellows generation after generation. Many still don't even realize that there really are things that go bump in the night.

These creatures can't be trusted. Even our fellow man, supposedly "blessed" with strange power, is no longer one of us. If we don't fight back, soon we'll be nothing more than a memory.

But we can't fight back if we don't fight a little dirty.

The setting is a semi-futuristic hodgepodge of hard magic and straight scifi. It's not completely anything goes, but it's pretty close. It's being assembled somewhat on the fly based partly on an old setting I was developing a few years back and partly on modern reality.

Presently, this is building from a plot I have going with ConnanBell. We both already have multiple characters involved, but our primaries are Panther Corps (me, obviously) and fightingleaf (him). Panther Corps is shades of all the standard monster-hunting groups (usually good intentions, not always so nice practices), and Leaf happens to be one of those who's glimpsed some of the reality and lived to tell about it - and wants to stop them.

Considering the weight of it all in-story, it only seems right that we try getting some others involved as well! We won't be diving directly into any big battle, though. Instead, if you're interested in getting looped into it all, please get in touch to start seeing how you can fit in! For now, we'll be focusing on smaller RPs to slowly be bringing things together.

Please be clear about how you would like to be involved!

Some quick notes:

• This does NOT have to be restricted to just 2 side. I'm happy to discuss the existence of other factions!
• I don't have a specific ending planned for this, and at this stage, a lot of details are still really flexible. That, I intend to be at least slightly less passive than I typically play, and might go straight up GM at times.
• Due to the nature of Panther Corps, I will need you to discuss character secrets with me. This is mostly so I can keep on top of things they should know "enough" about. I don't need to know everything, but the more you're willing to share, the better.
• A wide array of technology short of actually useful space and time travel are acceptable. A lot of sorts of magic, as well as fantasy-based races, are acceptable. Degrees of psychic powers are acceptable. Marvel-style mutations are acceptable.
• Not all RPs need to involve me. Not all RPs need to involve ConnanBell. Same for anyone else who may end up in a big, important position. I do very much appreciate being made aware of things going on, though.
• Unless you have a significant objection, RP threads for this will be gathered and played out here.

This is exactly the sort of concept that really resonates with me. I'm super interested! I have characters that can work on both sides of the conflict

Have any of you thought about which characters you'd like to use? Considering how building up is a goal, I'm counting on lots of short introductory RPs, and it's fine if we go through a few "duds" in the process of collecting our cast. I'm also expecting most intros to be 1x1's but I'm fine with small groups for anyone who wants to start building connections right away.

Also, like the forum thing said, I will also be involved in this, primarily using my character fightingleaf. Now what characters are you guys gonna use?

I could always adapt a few of my existing ones! (Anyone sick of poor Aaron yet? He's always good for some ambiguity) Otherwise I can give it a think and come up with someone new, or two!

I like this guy. Leaf would definitely try to recruit this guy.

At the same time, I can easily see PC contracting him out and just keeping an eye on him.

Up to you. Malcolm looks like he could work well, though, complete with not fitting a black and white narrative. He seems like someone who'd end up recruited by Leaf (willing or not on either side) or in some other faction (possibly just on his own). Not someone PC would have interest in beyond execution, based on my skimming through the profile anyway.

Just an FYI to be sure everyone knows: threads/PMs will be set up/sent out on an individual basis as players feel ready for introductory RPs. At this point, there will not be a mass RP for everyone to join at once.

So as you get your characters ready/selected, let us know how you'd like your character to be a part of the story and we can work out a basic plot to start working from. (Everyone is encouraged to talk with each other, too, so we can work out how the separate stories will begin to merge!)

So who's playing what around here!? I wanna know!!

I know a couple people mentioned RL obligations they need to take care of first, but I'd also like to start seeing movement from anyone ready!

I'm very interested in this, and I'd like to join using this character if it isn't too late.

I am exactly 400% down for all of this. (Aside from actual-execution, but that's rather understandable! )
