Hey there, it's your bubbly and bumbling Lady Lord Light! I just wanted to ask a casual question.

So one of my characters... Hates chocolate. And cherries. And chocolate covered cherries. Yet he loves peanut butter like no one else's business.

Which got me to thinking: Does anyone else have an aversion to chocolate or chocolate treats as well? Or a sweet they can't stand to be close to? Or maybe you just want to share what sweet you can't get enough of?

So, what's your least favorite sweet and why? I'd also like to hear your most favorite and why too!

Me? I honestly hate Twizzlers. Can't stand them, and they taste like medicine to me. But cheesecake is love, cheesecake is life eternal. I can never get enough of that creamy, silky texture that comes with a good New York cheesecake.

What about you guys? If you don't like sweets, then what's your favorite food in general?

I don't like anything that's super sour. I can deal with like.. a sweet candy with a sour coating if it's not too bad, but my mouth is like puckering and I feel a little nauseated just thinking about sour candies argh.

I have a super duper love for dark chocolate where the cocoa content is 80% or higher. That richness oh my god.
Hail the Lady Lord Light!

I actually like all sweets. My favorite has to be candy corn! I'm not good at describing food taste, but it's my all time favorite.

Butterscotch candy was planted on this earth by the dark lord Stan to test our faith.

The worst part is that in bags of mixed candies, the hideous orange-brown of butterscotch is sometimes, at a glance, difficult to distinguish from the golden hue of lemon. Many times have my taste buds been ambushed by the buttery fiends.

Twizzlers, too, are mixed within the acidic pits of hell and drawn into a twisting mass of blood-red dissected veins.

No, the true candy of kings, the true superhero of sweets, is the humble but beautiful SOFT PEPPERMINT STICK.

Also jawbreakers.
I hate sour candy - I simply can't stand it, and I know few things more terrible than a bag of mix-it-yourself candy where the powder from the sour candy has spread into the entire bag and contaminated the rest of the candy.

Also, I cannot tell you how much I detest peanutbutter, and anything with peanuts in it! Yuck.

And Skumbananer*. God, they are awful!

(*Banana flavored marshmallows with chocolate coating)
I absolutely hate anything green apple flavored, orange flavored, or banana flavored (Regular bananas are fine). They're just really gross and I can't stand the artificial flavoring.

My favorite candy is smarties, because when I was younger my grandma told me they made me smarter. And I believed her, so to this day they remain my favorite.

[EDIT:] And Dark chocolate, just cause I can't eat milk chocolate without my teeth hurting.

@MSochist: Hail indeed! Also, candy corn is love.

@HwoThumb: I actually loved the soft peppermint candies they gave out at church when I was itty bitty. I miss those things. ;w; Also, I still think Twizzlers were born from the tails of gluttony demons that were twisted, curled, and glamoured by the living darkness itself to look and taste semi-appetizing. They have failed to fool me. I despise them.

@Penholder: *blinks at what a Skumbananer is* Those are a thing? Ew, why?

@InsaneShadow: Oh! My great great grandmother told me that same thing about Smarties a long time ago! I still believe her (oddly), but I can barely find the things in stores anymore.
Chocolate. Used to like it, but my aunt brought me back some pure dark chocolate from Sweden and shortly after eating it, my body completely began rejecting it. That was about 8 or 9 years ago I think. I can't even be in the same room as chocolate chip cookies without getting a migraine. I can eat white chocolate and lime chocolate okay, so it's probably the actual cacao plant I'm allergic to or something.

Not really a candy or a sweet, but I'm not big on whipped cream. I can't describe what I don't like about it, but I just don't. Not a big dairy fan in general unless it's an ingredient in something else.
I really dislike licorice. It just doesn't taste good, and I fail to see the attraction to it when it just tastes weirdly sweet, dry, and akin to, in my opinion, rubber. Like... eraser rubber.

As for my favourite kind of sweet, I very much enjoy cheesecake. I hated it as a kid, but having it as a teenager and now an adult... I'm a little disappointed by my kid self. But, well... tastebuds change, as my parents would always say. I love the creamy smoothness of cheesecake as well as how richly mellow it is -- odd way of describing it. But still.
My least favourite has to be any kind of flavours that carry a very bitter or chalky taste. Licorice is something that I cannot stand, and despite younger "me" not minding smarties, older me can no longer stomach the chalky texture. Though I will somewhat tolerate SweetTarts because they are incredibly sweet.

My absolute favourite is difficult to decipher, because I don't like generalising to a single, all-time choice. Though I will admit that Cadbury milk chocolate has a great, rich, and creamy flavour. Couple that will anything caramel or cream, and it's an amazing compliment to my taste buds.

Though I would also accept sour candies like Sour Punch, or tart candies like the chewy SweetTarts.
*Tries to quote everyone who said licorice was bad*
*Takes too long so ERASE*

Lol Twizzlers/licorice isn't a fan favorite apparently

Well, to clarify specifics, black licorice is the pits on my tongue. It's literally cough medicine to me. But red licorice is pretty okay, it's like the Luden's of cough medicine. Where they once advertised as cough drops, but you knew they were just candies.
Light, Skumbananer is absolutely horrible. My mom loves them.

As for licorice - I love licorice <3 Salt, sweet, strong, red... I must admit I prefer sweet, black licorice - I simply can't resist it. I lived in Morocco for half a year, and my mother brought me more than a kilo of licorice when she visited me! :D
Netherweave: Oh okay. Sorry btw didn't mean any offense.

Penholder: Lol they look like a t-word that rhymes with birds. Seriously though, I now know what you meant.
I'm probably going to some circle of hell for this, but I seriously hate taffy. Taffy sticks to your teeth, it tastes overwhelming, it takes forever to chow down and for some reason my grandparents insist on force feeding me these pellets from hell!

As for my favourite, that's chocolate, because Belgium. More specifically, dark chocolate with nuts. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!

As a Dutch person when I see people not LOVING THE SHIT OUT OF LICORICE:

tumblr_m8tivkdHtc1qegtup-1.gif

Y'ALL A BUNCH OF HEATHENS. HEATHENS!!

(Just kidding ilu all. You should try some varieties of licorice from Germany and the Netherlands, I know from all the Americans/Canadians who visited me that it's pretty different from what you guys have in the Americas!)

Licorice is wonderful.

Twizzlers, however, are a sick mockery of licorice and should be obliterated from this earth before they can corrupt our youth even further.

The good licorice will turn your breath into a lethal weapon.
I don't like candy at all really. Only dark, rich chocolate, and candied almonds.

Because I'm boring like that.

@FreeJayFly: I love how mellow cheesecake is too! It has more of a silky texture to me, and it melts in your mouth a bit as your savor it and... and I just love every bit of it. Cheesecake can be indescribable at times. <3

@Penholder: ...Okay, those look unappetizing, nay, unappealing. And now that MSochist mentions it....

@Rynh: It's been too long since I had taffy, but I hated how they'd just stick to your teeth like it was made of some weird glue gum. ^^;

@Sanne: *snorts* To be frank, I haven't had licorice in a while, but I do remember liking it okay. It's just.... Twizzlers. No. Just.. No.

@Cinders: Pfft, that's not boring at all! I've never met anyone who wasn't a sweet lover. It's actually really neat. (Also teaches me to look at my own sweet intake. ;D)
To me, nothing is worse than a candy cigarette (or "candy sticks," if you will).

(Perfect example)

These things are the bootlegs of candy in my opinion. They taste exactly how they look, like freaking chalk. I tried it once when I was like 6 years old. The moment I put one in my mouth, it felt like I was shoving dust in. DO NOT believe the "flavors" that the boxes promote. They all taste the same.

However, one of my favorite sweets is Lancaster Vanilla & Caramel soft cremes.

It just melts in your mouth, and the mix of flavors just go so well...
