This is a thread I make every so often, usually about 8mo-1yr apart. Just like the title states, what do you do for a living? Are you a student? Work full time? Trying to pursue your dream career? Tell us about it!
I personally am an IT guy turned mechanic turned CNA (certified nurse aide). It's been a pretty wild ride: I was certain I wanted to be involved with computers about 10 years ago, but the only IT courses in my area were networking technology based. I hate network stuff. Thought I could learn to love it but I was wrong. Dropped out after one semester. My dream was to be a hardware engineer but I don't have the capacity for math or means to do that.
After that, a good friend of mine mentored me on my path as a car guy, and I love it. I wouldn't work as a mechanic but I restore old Japanese cars and work on em for fun.
Right now, I'm a nurse aide, and I'll probably stick with this path for quite some time. My current job - taking care of the developmentally disabled - came about from a real good buddy of mine and his SO. She said her employer was hiring and I tried it out. It was odd at first, but I'll have worked there 3 years this coming august. I love my job, it's extremely rewarding and I don't take that fact for granted at all.
So let's here it guys: what do y'all do?

I'm a freelance artist that does a myriad of hobbies on the side... hobbies I should invest more time into, if I do say so myself. :'D;;
I'm mostly a character artist, though I am forcing myself to get more into the habit of doing backgrounds so that I can actually make something that isn't just a gradient or texturised background to my works. That's going... okay. I'm also attempting to pursue animation, and have been having quite a bit of fun with it... even if it does get exhausting by the end of the week. It's just a lot of fun and rewarding to see the end result of my efforts. C:
Other than that, my other main thing is that I also do free and freelance voice over work with my credits in FUNimation's Ouran High School Host Club to back my, admittedly, small credentials to indie game devs and animators that may need voice over work. Some don't see it through to fruition, but it's fine. Everything that I do in that department goes toward my demo reel... at least the takes I like, anyway.

I study Middle East society and language(Arabic) with a focus on society, and then I work part time at the local bookstore. I like working there, because my coworkers are super nice and I love books, but I can't wait to get a real job and do something with my life, and really help people.
Currently (still) on disability for the foreseeable future. When my health improves in the next 2-3 years, I hope to become a full time Virtual Assistant and make a living with that. It's a super fun job that keeps me interested and challenged with a wide variety of tasks. It's hugely satisfying for me to help people out and take a lot of their stress away by taking on some of their responsibilities!
I have two jobs right now!
In the mornings I work at a library with marble columns, a book-delivery robot, and 240km of shelving. I've jumped from section to section but right now I'm in the finance team counting all the dollars. I really enjoy working in the library. It's a beautiful building and a city landmark, and it feels really great working for a place like this.
After lunch I work at he passport office doing QA and passport manufacturing. This job is A+ rad because everybody puts in their own headphones and just chills to music all day. So I listen to audio books! I mostly do QA, and have to make sure the photo is well cropped and clear, there isn't any dust or printing errors, and that there's no mistakes with the name, date of birth and so forth.
All up I'm out of the house about 11 hours a day (which is why I'm doing so little art + RP right now). But I'm really very happy with my set-up because the work is pretty fun and I'm making quite a bit of money!

Aspiring freelance artist! My health won't let me do much else. A year ago, I had two jobs: A cashier, and - well, the second one was odd and two fold: a clown, teaching juggling, performing... and on weekend nights, in a totally different get-up, breathing fire and doing other fire performance (poi, staff) to entertain drunks.
I mean, it definitely sucks I can't do that stuff anymore because of physical health issues...but I'm also fairly glad to no longer be doing either! I'd much rather focus on art, it's what I've always wanted to do but denied myself because it's not a 'real' job, so said my parents and, well, all of society pretty much. Heh.
Time to prove them wrong. Slowly.

I just started a job at Target as a hardlines sales floor team member! That means I deal in non-clothing items, as I found out when I got the job. It's my first proper retail work ever, and it's clicking along pretty nicely.
I pull inventory from the back to go to the floor, zone sections (make sure merch is in place), handle abandoned items, & help customers with questions.
As it turns out, my interactions here as a site moderator translate very nicely into retail customer service, so I only suffer physically; having previously been a house sitter, I'm not quite in good enough shape to be on my feet 6-8 hours a day, but I'm getting better!

Everyone on here does something remarkable for a living and I'm just like, "I sit at home all day and lurk on this website."
LOL

I have been working for Walmart for almost two years now, and reciently joined the Toy department, where I do... actually, to be brief, it's pretty much the same as Copper_Dragon's job. However, my store is huge (It's the biggest Walmart in the county, even.) so my feet ache pretty much every night. I think I average about 12k steps each full work day, or more.
I'm a Cap 2 associate at Walmart. That's basically Walmart-speak for 2nd shift grocery stocker. Basically me and my team (known as Cap 2) are responsible for unloading both the grocery and general merchandise trucks. About half our shift is spent unloading the trucks, then the rest of the time is spent stocking the grocery aisles. It's an extremely physical job, with a lot of heavy lifting and you're basically on your feet for 8 straight hours minus two 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch. But the lunch is unpaid so the shift is 9 hours long, from 2-11 p.m. But I still enjoy my job quite a bit.
I am a marine biologist at our local aquarium here in the costal city I currently work at. My main job mainly consists of taking care of thousands of gallons of water everyday. Feeding, checking the health and water quality for the animals. As well as scuba diving the tanks.
It's both a highly rewarding and a highly physical job. I love it. A huge difference from whenever I worked as a veterinary tech for a good number of years. I do not regret my career change.

I am a cosmetologist. I work at a hair salon that is full service and corporately owned, but I am so much more than a stylist. My clients bring in a blank canvas, be it for a cut, color, wax, or all three at the same time and let me work my magic. (So if anyone ever needs advice, feel free to ask!)
Aside from my full time job, I am a mother to two awesome little boys and a step mother to an amazing little girl. These kids are my world and my life force. Without them, I probably wouldn't be where I am today.
