Year: 2145
Location: Io, one of Jupiter's moons
Plot: In 2121, humans finally reached the far stretches of every planet in the solar system, establishing colonies, science stations, and military bases along almost every moon and planet within reach. Currently on Jupiter's desert moon Io, there lies a massive research facility and colony, established by the Furthest Frontiers Organization (FFO). Suddenly, one day, Enceladuso 'disappears'. Every form of communication with the base is cut off. The FFO grows concerned and sends in an elite squad , the DSSO (Deep Space Special Ops.) to assess the situation, and stop it from potentially spreading....

After a few short days spent on the Enceladus moonbase, DSSO3 is nearing Io's surface. The moon becomes larger and larger as the squad speeds towards it in their transport ship. A tinny metallic voice rattles off, "T Minus one minutes until deployment."

Lewis presses a button on his combat armour and the faceplate of his helmet dissasembles to reveal his scarred face.
"So, we have small chance to chat. Any of you got anythin' to say before we plunge to our deaths? Personally, kinda annoyed how I'm the one given a freakin' sub machine gun. I spec'ed into big guns and this is what I'm given? Stupid company and their damn..." His voice trails off into a mumble, leaving the pod quiet for the rest of the group to speak.

Big guns, Roman laughed a little on the inside as he taped away at the keyboard on his wrist. Roman was thrilled at his selection of equipment unlike the others he preferred the submachine gun and pistol combo as it allowed him to carry more useful items. His Quantum network computer for example, currently strapped to his back and connected convenient to his holodisplay and keyboard. With the Quantum PC Roman had access to the Quantum network and its limitless databases which was always an invaluable tool for the field. With a few quick taps on the keyboard and a wave of his hand across the holographic display hovering over the keyboard Roman brought up a satellite view of IO’s surface. The surface was calm the eerie orange circle and the surrounding yellow seemed motionless, but the geothermal sensors showed great upheaval beneath the surface of IO.
“I’d be less concerned about your Big Guns,” Roman replied sarcastically. “I’d be much more concerned with the pillars of lava, if Enceladuso’s pumps are offline that stuff will be flowing across the surface faster than either of us could run.” Roman lifted his wrist so that the entire bay could see the geothermal sensor readings showing bright red hot spots building up just below the surface.

Jupiter watched their descent through the window, lost in thought. He was the only one silent at this point, but he didn't really care. There was really nothing helpful he could say, after all. He was thrown into this squad after his predecessor died right before the mission, and he barely knew what he was doing, let alone anything about the other members. Of course, he had nothing against them, either.
Funnily enough, he was probably the least experienced soldier here, unlike in his last position, where he was leagues ahead of the others. And hell, was it strange. At least he'd be able to get through that. He was on the elite team now, there was no time for feeling out of place. He tapped a button on his helmet, after a moment. Maybe he did have something to say after all.
"Zhukov is right, you know. That's one of our main dangers on the moon. Another would be the unstable ground. Quakes are bound to happen at some point," he said, matter-of-factly.

"Pah, if its so 'dangerous' then why the hell would they put a base on the damn rock in the first place? And to what end? If its just pumping lava around the base, seems like a waste of time and resources." He pauses, as if finishing his sentence, but speaks up again.
"Actually, I don't care anymore. You'll probably spout some sciency jargon I won't understand." He picks up the SMG his was given and quickly inspects it, before pulling a small handle and pushing it's stock to transform it into it's compact version.
"So, is it just us three? I'd expect one or two more for an operation this big." He buckles in his seat, expecting an answer.

(I'll move us right along here)
(edit: I realized I made a typo in the beginning, that should be Enceladus, not Enceladuso.)
The tinny, metallic voice rings out again through the ship's PA system. "Prepare to deploy... Retrograde thrusters activating." The ship began to slow, and there is slight turbulence as the thrusters lower it to the surface. There is a loud thud and the lights flicker in the vessel as it touches down on the sandy surface of the planet. The gruff voice of the captain comes in over their helmet mics. "Testin', one, two, three! Alright boys, you know what you've gotta do here. Git in there and figure out what exactly went the hell wrong. You probably should re-power the base to save your suit batteries. Good luck men, I'll be on the mic if you need me!." His voice cuts out and a hiss sounds as the ramp lowers, revealing the bleached surface of Io.

(So is this dead or what? I'm still willing to continue.)
Lewis jumps up from his seat, weapon in hand, and bounds down the ramp. He stops momentarily before his set foot onto Io's surface, then preforms a small leap onto the dusty ground. As he left the confines of the ship, it's artifical gravity generator lets him go, causing him to bounce slightly now on Io's weaker gravity. If it wasn't for his suit, he would probably be floating off into empty space.
The squad internal radio buzzes to life. "You guys coming, or are you all wussing out already?" He chuckles to himself and he turns away from the ship and towards the base.
