The story begins on a nice spring like day in Tokyo, in a world where supernatural phenomenon exist in everyday life. As the supernatural becomes a daily occurrence, the people of Tokyo eventually accepts them as part of normal everyday life instead of fearing and rejecting the possible unknown of what it could potentially cause. Though there are cases of which the supernatural is either friendly, beneficial, or harmless, there are also cases of which they can be threatening to the public. Kidnappings, murders, and vandalism to name a few, the people of Tokyo learn to fear them which eventually lead to conflict. This lead to suppressing and treating everything that is supernatural as monsters that should be either arrested or killed without any mercy. As a vast majority adopts such methods out of fear of protecting one’s self of their existence, there are few who aren’t afraid of the supernatural, and will even try to help them out in secret.

There is a grown man, a police officer, who not only protects the people of Tokyo from crime ranging from both normal to paranormal; but also investigates the supernatural in secret as he too is also part of it. The grown man’s name was Viper Vermillion, and he is something that surpasses the supernatural as he’s actually an alien that comes from another planet far, far away. He actually wasn’t the only otherworldly visitor as there were others that now live on Earth in secret and seclusion, only going out into the world when conducting business with the humans by working alongside them while in human forms and disguises to blend right in with them. Vermillion is a hero to his people as he processes a wide range of experience in fighting in various situations, but he becomes a police officer when he works in Japan, a job very well catered to his talents. Vermillion has worked in the police force for over 2 years now, becoming very successful in his job thanks to his hidden talents of using his special powers in emergencies. Eventually he has become not only popular with the citizens of Tokyo, but all over Japan as well as he travels all over solving and preventing crimes.

Today was like any normal day, partly cloudy which then the weather calls for rain at late afternoon. Vermillion was taking the day off today after preventing an armed kidnapping case yesterday. Happy to have the day off, Vermillion went to his favorite restaurant over by the harbor, famous for it’s seafood, as he enjoys his meal. The time was 4 o’clock when he left the restaurant as he heads out into town to enjoy the rest of his day. Despite not wearing his police uniform, only wearing black crew shirt, a red zipped arm-less vest, white puffy sweatpants, and red sneakers; the people do recognize him as he politely convey his greetings while traveling throughout town, looking for something to do. Thankfully, Vermillion was sure to carry his umbrella around his back when the rain starts a bit later.

CRASH!

BREAK!

The sounds of anger and shattering glass against the floor were heard from the inside of a small and not so known restaurant just downtown. The owner of the place looked as horrible as his name and was very unfriendly. The shouting continued as he was shooing away a young and unique girl -- a girl with long vibrant pink hair, crystal blue eyes that shimmered like diamonds, and a pair of adorable cat ears and a tail. Her name was Nekomi.

Nekomi was starving and she went everywhere to beg for food, but no heart so kind and generous was there to help her. Most of the people she met were heartless and cold, and they were no more but bullies towards her. She wondered why she wasn't accepted, why no one can learn to love her. The only person whoever cared for her dearly was her former master who died many months ago.

In tears, Nekomi whimpered in pain from the owner's continuous battering as he cursed and called her bad names. And everyone whoever passed by and saw the incident didn't care to even stop him from doing so. They just watched and walked away. If only there were someone who can help her...

As the events took place, with Vermillion noticing a group of people gathering from a distance, he runs and heads out to see what's going on. It took him a while to excuse himself in front of the crowd before he was able to see Nekomi who is crying, and a grown man that was being very cruel with her. Vermillion felt a lot of anger welling up inside of him, about to force himself to stop the restaurant owner aggressively, but instead calmed down and thought of his authority as a police officer. As one of the more successful police officers throughout Japan, Vermillion has high notoriety to the people once he flashes his badge at people. With a plan in action, Vermillion went up between the restaurant owner and Nekomi as he sticks his hand out before the restaurant owner.

"Hold it right there, sir!" said Vermillion as he flashes his badge at the restaurant owner's face for him to see "Viper Vermillion, police officer. Mind tell me what's going on here? Why are you being mean to this lady here?"

Slightly looking up, as the man's foot was right at the back of her head, Nekomi tried to catch the stranger's face. For the first time, someone has come to her aid and she was so relieved, but she was still under the man's torture. The more she struggled, the more painful it felt.

"Lady?" The man chuckled at Vermillion, "Sorry, officer, but this is no lady. This is an animal. A dirty animal!" And he pressed Nekomi's head harder with his foot, squishing her face against the pavement.

This made Nekomi cry louder and she clenched her fists. "Please! Please stop!" Her nose was already bleeding, as well as her forehead. "P-Please. Help me, sir..." And she begged to the man who claimed to be a police. "Please..." But the man squished her some more.

"Shut up, you piece of trash!"

Vermillion was horrified to what the restaurant owner did to Nekomi. He didn't hesitate to think about it any more other than to either get the guy away from her, or to arrest him on the spot. What Vermillion did next, almost surprised himself as he then just shoves him off of Nekomi and into the ground.

"Enough! Granted I can understand that this lady here is different, but she's not causing any trouble to be treated this way, yes? I may be a officer off duty right now as I'm done my shift for the day, but I still have official rights and jurisdictions. Now I request that you return to your establishment without any more unnecessary violence as I will take custody of this lady here. If you don't cooperate with me, I'll arrest you for possible attempted murder, assault and battery, and even resisting arrest of an officer...needless to say you know how long you will be locked up for... I've arrested many people during my career, and I won't hesitate to add you as another hit on my already long list...not to try and gloat..." said Vermillion

Vermillion then goes up to the wounded Nekomi as he flips her over to see if she's okay.

"Please hang in there, ma'am. I'll try to administer first aid, but I don't have much in terms of treatment. I can't take you like this, so at least let me gently clean your face with my handkerchief." said Vermillion

Vermillion then takes out his handkerchief, and wets it with cold spring water that he was carrying with him at the time. He the begins to wipe Nekomi's face while trying to stop the bleeding the best he can.

"How horrible... I know she is different from the others, but even then she doesn't deserve this horrible treatment... I know not all people are like him, but this really proves that humans are really scum to me, and I know that there's more bad people than nice people throughout Japan." said Vermillion, lost in his thoughts

The restaurant owner looked at Vermillion hesitantly, growling from the fact that he didn't have the choice but to let Nekomi go. He wanted the poor girl dead, but he also didn't want to get arrested either, so he left Nekomi and went back to his restaurant. The same with the people watching, and as they left, they murmured terrible things about the cat girl and how foolish the police man was to even think of saving her. Honestly, Vermillion was the first police man to ever care to save her from bad men like the restaurant owner. Other police men would just ignore her being beaten.

As everyone was gone and off to do their own business, Nekomi, almost unconscious from the man's cruelty, tried to open her eyes as she wanted to look at her savior. She was so thankful that she finally found someone different -- someone caring.

"T-Thank you." She said in a hoarse voice.

"Don't mention it. Even if my superiors and colleges wouldn't like it if they ever knew or witness this, I can't simply abandon a person in need...even if they aren't human... I don't discriminate on what I protect and serve the public..." said Vermillion

Vermillion then finishes cleaning up Nekomi's face, his handkerchief is ruined and soaked with Nekomi's blood.

"I've wiped and done all I can to stop the bleeding right now, but you really need to see a doctor, and I know just the person that I need to see. I need to make it a house call as I'm sure I can't take you to a hospital, but I'll do what I can." said Vermillion

Vermillion then takes out his smartphone as he calls a special doctor as he explains the situation to him, including Nekomi being a non-human. He, however, trusts this particular doctor as he is like Vermillion that he won't discriminate who he helps out. He told the doctor to meet him at a pacific place around here to pick them up before he hangs up and checks up on Nekomi.

"Don't you worry, ma'am, help is on the way. I'll take you to my house where we can treat you there." said Vermillion

Vermillion then princess-carries Nekomi in his arms as he begins to make his way to the designated spot where the doctor is going to pick them up four blocks southwest where they are.

Nekomi looked very weak in Vermillion's arms. She was still like ice and she seemed so lifeless that she slowly can't help, but lose her consciousness and drift off to a world of dreams. And in her dreams, memories of her former master started to play in her mind like a movie. They were so happy memories that she wished to go back to, but little by little, these beautiful memories were being replaced by a dreadful nightmare -- a nightmare which was what destroyed her life -- her master's death.

Vermillion hurries over to the meeting place to be picked up by the doctor that he requested, doing his very best to avoid people noticing that he's carrying a Neko with him. 15 minutes later, he soon arrives at the meeting place to be picked up as the skies grew very cloudy overtime. It soon starts to rain, very lightly at first.

"Bah... I guess we're going to get a little wet before he arrives..." said Vermillion

Fortunately they didn't have to wait at all as then a familiar car drove up and stopped in front of them. The doctor hurries out of his car as he opens the backseat door for both Vermillion and Nekomi to get in. The doctor then quickly returns to the driver's seat as he begins to drive away to Vermillion's house. As they travel throughout the city, the rain starts to get more heavy, thankfully Vermillion knows that the weather reports says that there's not going to be a thunderstorm, just heavy rain.

"So you called me not only out on a house call for a medical emergency, but also to pick the two of you up? Also she is as you say that she is not human now that I got a good look at her. You got to admit that she's really a cutie, eh brother?" said the doctor

"...I only did what any decent, upstanding citizen has done to help... I'm just glad that I have authority to resolve this without any violence..." said Vermillion

"Indeed so. How is she?" asked the doctor

"It looks like she lost conscious. She's also a bit cold, but at least it looks like she isn't in any immediate danger..." said Vermillion

"That's somewhat good to hear. If you need a blanket, I can stop the car and move it to you from the middle compartment that connects the trunk and the back, so that way it won't get wet. It'll be a while before we get to your place though." said the doctor

"I know... I just hope that everything will on continue smoothly... I sort of had a rough day..." said Vermillion

"Which you'll obviously not going to tell, even with your own younger brother, eh?" said the doctor

"Well it is police work. The concerning and curious public does not need to know any details." said Vermillion

"True~ True~" said the doctor cheerfully

As Vermillion watches on to keep an eye on Nekomi, he feel compelled to pet her head between the cat ears, but other random thoughts plagued his mind to prevent him from trying it. The three continues to drive throughout Tokyo, soon about to leave the city as they make their way to country outskirts.

((It's been days? Whew. Time passes by fast. But anyway, sorry for the late respond. Here it is.))

In the wide corridors of a quiet and urbane mansion found in the middle of the woods, Nekomi was walking slowly, heading to the study room where she believed her master, Edogawa Ryyu, was. And in her hands, she was carrying a silver tray with a pot filled with warm green tea, sugar, and milk. There was also a plate of crumpets and some of her master's favorite biscuits. It was finally tea time.

Nekomi was very happy. This was because every tea time, she and her master would not only share a cup of tea together, but he would also read to her stories of magic--mermaids, fairies, and princesses. She was always like a daughter to Mr. Edogawa and he was like a true father to Nekomi. They were very caring for each other, but that all had to end.

As Nekomi entered the study room, happy and excited, her eyes suddenly widened with fear. She also became so speechless as she found a pool of blood painting the floor; some on the wall, too. She can't believe her eyes. Her master was murdered brutally and the knife the killer used was still found stabbed on his head. His eyes still open. His clothes stained with crimson. It scared her and made her cry that she can't help but run. But as she ran, Mr. Edogawa's bloody body suddenly appeared to her. Everywhere she turned, he was there... He was there... He was...


"HUH!" Nekomi gasped for breath as she sat up. She was actually dreaming of the last time she saw her master. And it was no good memory. And wherever she was right now, she turned her head left and right, wondering where she was.

(It's okay. I had something to distract me with. Anyway...)

Vermillion was surprised when Nekomi woke up so suddenly, but was very relieved that she looks okay despite the circumstances.

"Are you okay, ma'am? You're in the back of my younger brother's car. He's a doctor, and a very good one at that. Anyway we're heading to my place out in the country side so that we can actually get you medical attention." said Vermillion as he smiles calmly in order to try and reassure her

"Yep. I'm Dr. Aster Seymour, Viper Vermillion's youngest brother of three. You can call which ever way you like. Anyway It's a pleasure to meet someone like you. Just try to relax and stay calm, we both are here to help and take care of you." said Aster

Nekomi shuddered with fearful eyes as she realized where she was, for she had a memory of being taken away in someone's car once. It was a stranger who appeared to be so kind and generous -- who offered her a new home, but was secretly sadistic and cruel. He was planning to make her his slave as soon as they'd arrive at his house, but knowing his plan, Nekomi was able to jump out of the car and run away into the dark corners of the city, hoping not to be seen by him again.

She was paranoid. Afraid. Nekomi was worried if it was happening again, but seeing that one of her companions in the car was the kind police man that saved her from the brutality of a restaurant owner, she slowly calmed down and softly sighed with relief. For some reason, she felt safer with him. And so, by instinct, she laid back on him and nuzzled against his shoulder purring.

Vermillion was surprised that Nekomi ended up nuzzling on his shoulder and purring at the same time despite the show of nervousness that she had for just a moment before she calmed down which surprised him even more. He felt very nervous and blushed quite vividly, despite it was just that Nekomi is only showing affection for the kind act that he did for her not too long ago. Vermillion was about to push her away, but Aster, seeing everything through his rear view mirror, stopped him from doing it.

"Be kind, big brother. She's only thanking you for rescuing her in her own way. You are her hero after all, and that you should take responsibility to help her all the way. Isn't that what 'they' want us to do?" said Aster

Vermillion gasped in surprise at first before mulling over it with his eyes closed. Aster is right, Vermillion's sole reason and goal in life was to be the best hero that 'they' want him to be. To be able to become essentially a goodwill ambassador of his people to the people of Earth when one day they can reveal everything; and that they can continue to live alongside them without having to no longer hide in the shadows. That was everyone's true dream and goal back at Vermillion's home base out in the Atlantic Ocean. Unknowing to Vermillion, however, that dream will be very difficult to achieve, especially since he remembers what happened to Nekomi just nearly an hour ago...that mistreatment, despite her being so innocent, was horrible to see and witness... That memory will be burned into his mind for a really long time...

During the car ride, when remembering that, and when he now looks at Nekomi being happy, Vermillion ends up closing his eyes and sheds a tear on each eye.

"What's wrong, brother? Are you okay?" asked Aster in concern for his big brother as he saw him shedding tears through the rear view mirror

"It's...it's nothing..." said Vermillion as he wipes his tears away from his face

"Oh...okay..." said Aster, acting slightly worried for him "It's still going to be a little while before we get to Vermillion's Villa, ma'am, so please continue to rest up. Thankfully despite the somewhat heavy rains, I think we'll be okay."

"That we will." said Vermillion

((I'm so sorry for the late reply. I'm really bad when it comes to time. I am very busy at school. ))

Slowly rasping her head against him, Nekomi's ears suddenly twitched a little, almost unnoticeable, as she sensed Vermillion's change of emotions. She wanted to comfort him as soon as he felt like crying for a moment, but she decided not to as his brother, Aster, spoke. Then after hearing Aster tell her to relax, she did what he said and continued to lay upon Vermillion's shoulder so casually as if they were very close. Although Vermillion was still technically a stranger, she somewhat felt a connection with him for some reason. It was almost like she knew him already.

Now, as they continued their drive to Vermillion's house while the rain kept pouring down from the sad clouds eyes, Nekomi from time to time would look up at Vermillion's face, wondering if he might want to talk to her or something, but she didn't want to force herself or he. She just kept quiet all throughout the journey and hoped that whatever happens will be okay.

( It's fine. Besides I do have a very nice way to pass up the time now. )

10 minutes has passed as Aster continues to drive to Vermillion's Villa, almost arriving at their destination. As the drive continues, the ride was pretty slient, Aster was focused on driving the car, Vermillion was lost in his thoughts, and Nekomi continues to relax. Eventually, Aster decides to break the ice as it was getting boring, and that he wants to know more about Nekomi.

"Big brother, we should ask the lady what her name is, and where she is from. After all, we'll be taking care of her until things start to settle down, yes?" said Aster

"...Yeah, you're right... Also, now that I think about it, ever since I rescued you from that restaurant owner, are you hungry, miss?" said Vermillion

Nekomi's ears suddenly ascended from his question and her eyes quickly sparkled like stars. She nodded abruptly, telling him that she was indeed very very very hungry. She hasn't eaten a proper meal in days, which is why she looks very skinny. Her clothes were tattered too.

Vermillion smiles a bit wry at Nekomi, but he can't blame her that she was very hungry...but then the question soon arises of what she wants to eat? Since Vermillion is having a special guest come over to his place, he wants to treat them to the food that they wanted...even if he doesn't have the said food... In case this happens, Vermillion would call his other brother, Jin, to go fetch the ingredients for him, of which he doesn't mind at all. Because that Vermillion normally lives alone, thus only having enough food for him to last a month, he'll have no other choice but to call Jin right away as soon as he finds out what Nekomi wants to eat.

"Well then, ma'am, what do you want to eat? You can have and eat anything you want." said Vermillion with a smile

"Yeah, big brother is an amazing cook! You should definitely try his meat dishes, they are great! Nice, tender, flavourful, and juicy..." said Aster smiling, which also starts to make him hungry

"...I'm not THAT amazing as I've only started to cook for about half a year now, but I do know how to cook a wide variety of meals...though I haven't truly mastered anything yet..." said Vermillion

"Aww... Don't be so modest... Don't take his word for it, ma'am, my big brother is a great cook, especially because you want to make people happy with your cooking." said Aster

Vermillion turns immediately flustered and blushed as to what Aster as said. He basically hit the nail on the head, and even if Vermillion denies it, he knows that he's lying.

"I...w-well..." stuttered Vermillion, trying to find an excuse to deny Aster's claim, but couldn't

"Don't you lie... They won't like it when you lie that you want to make people happy..." said Aster

Vermillion then just sighs, giving in.

"I'll do my very best to cook, despite my lack of mastery. I only hope I can satisfy your needs, miss..." said Vermillion, acting slightly hesitant to cook for someone, and for a beautiful cute lady no less

"Well anyway we're finally here. It's quite a beauty, isn't it?" said Aster as he drives the car up on driveway

Vermillion's home is a medium-sized, two-story villa with a luxurious look similar to what a celebrity would have his/her home look like. At the front of the house, it has a nice paved driveway, a pathway to the front door, a patio with an awning roof along with some comfortable furniture, and flower beds right beside the patio. Vermillion’s home was actually made not only by himself, but also with the help of his family when they brought out the land they needed to make his home. The reason why Vermillion has a house here, is mainly because of his work as a police officer which requires him to live very close to the city in order to respond to emergencies in case his superiors called him to deploy. This makes things more convenient, though he does sometime leaves his house in order to go to his real home somewhere out in the Atlantic Ocean.

Nekomi, at first, felt a bit nervous of getting out of the car. She felt worry and was not sure if it was safe outside. However, when she looked at Vermillion's face, her fear instantly drifted away, which made her push herself to go out. But while she did, she was still holding on to his arm.

After stepping out of the car, along with Vermillion who she didn't let go of, Nekomi's eyes widened with amazement as she softly gasped 'wow' from the sight of his home. It was way bigger than the mansion of her former master and was way more beautiful to be honest. She was impressed with the architecture. It was so pleasing to the eyes. Then, after mesmerizing the place, Nekomi started to wonder if anyone else lived with Vermillion. And if he had a lover or something.

"I-It's amazing." She said with her soft voice as her hands were still holding onto Vermillion's arm.

By the time the three got out of the car, the rain was letting up to the point that it's now lightly raining. Vermillion was a bit worried that they would need an umbrella to shield themselves from the somewhat heavy rains from earlier, but now that is no longer needed.

"It is isn't it, ma'am? It took a lot of time and effort to complete this. Granted it's way too big for one person to have, but a lot of times people do come here, guests or us brothers." said Aster as he then goes to the trunk of his car to get his things before heading on out to the front door

"Everyone back at my original home help me made this villa because, as a police officer, I have to live close to the city. It's voluntary to live inside, but I like the countryside better because it's more peaceful. Also..." said Vermillion as he then points towards the view of Tokyo on their right with his free hand "And we get this very nice view of the city from here, especially at night."

The view of the city of Tokyo is very nice as Vermillion's Villa rests on a hill, especially at night with all the city lights on.

"Anyway we shouldn't be standing out in this rain, even though it's light now, so let's go on inside so we can help treat your injuries for real, and get you something to eat...which reminds me that you didn't say what you wanted to eat... I do have a modest amount of food, mainly because I live alone, but I have another brother who is currently out that can go get more groceries." said Vermillion

Vermillion was also going to note that Nekomi's clothes are also slightly tattered and dirty, and that it's best to change them, but of course he didn't say anything about it as it would be very rude. Him noticing it also started to make him blush quite vividly as the two arrives at the patio with Aster waiting for them.

"Big brother, what's the matter with you now? Why are you blushing?" asked Aster

"It's nothing! Honest! Anyway, let's head on inside." said Vermillion as he hastily takes out the house keys from his pocket to open the door to let them inside

Inside Vermillion’s house, people can see that many rooms are immediately visible in a similar style of an apartment home, but much more bigger and roomer. The living room is on the immediate left; the dining room is on the immediate right; the kitchen is behind the dining room, separated by a wall with a serving window in the middle; a hallway that leads to the backyard that is beside the kitchen; and a hallway that leads to a small public bathroom, a storage closet, a door that leads to a business meeting room, and another door that leads downstairs to a large underground complete basement. There are a set of stairs beside the living room that leads upstairs to the second floor where the main bathroom, two guest rooms, Vermillion’s Room, another storage closet, and a doorway that leads to a small rectangular outdoor patio.

"We should treat the lady's wounds in your room since it has a larger bed." said Aster

"Very well, but first do you want a bit of a snack to tie you over until dinner, ma'am? I do have some cheese crackers and drinks." asked Vermillion with a warm smile

"It'll be nice if she can be comfortable around us to tell us her name, so that we don't have to constantly call her by titles." said Aster, lost in his thoughts

((I'm so sorry. Busy and all.))

As the three of them finally entered into Vermillion's villa, Nekomi was further astonished by its interior. It was completely modern, elegant, sophisticated, and indeed, pleasing to the eyes. Nekomi can't help but keep staring at the building's marvelous design. She was amazed. But just when she was about to compliment about Vermillion's house again, her ears twitched from the sound of someone's thought. This made her suddenly say, "It's Nekomi..."

She slowly turned around and stared at Vermillion as she restated, "My name's Nekomi." Then unexpectedly, her eyes somewhat turned to vibrant purple, but quickly faded back to its original color, sapphire blue. But no one would have noticed it if they weren't looking at her eyes. "And..." She became a little timid again as she held both her hands, "...I would like some milk and fish crackers if you have any..." Then she looked down shyly.

From what just happened (if anyone noticed), Nekomi indeed had some things up her sleeve. She wanted to share it to them, but she was also worried that if she did, they might think of her as a freak.
