Hi Kim
I had an idea that I've been sitting on for a while. It's a social-type thing so I don't think it's that important as all the RP-related suggestions that you get on a daily basis.
Anyways, I was wondering if you could think about adding a feature where we can post statuses about ourselves. Yeah, I know. You're probably wondering what the purpose would be since we have the "Just Chatting" thread and PMs.
Well you could post stuff about your day, such as your mood (there could be a button that gives you "Mood" options as well as some custom stuff) and things that happened to you. Other users could then comment on it. You could also post pictures and people could comment on it.
It would kind of work like Facebook. I'm not sure where you'd put it though. Maybe on our profile page?
I don't know. I know it sounds bad. I just wanted to see if you were interested in it.

Good morning!
I'm not Kim, buuuut this subject has come up before!

Unless Kim has changed her mind, the overall gist is that this sort of thing would be a hassle to go ahead and implement--both to our notifications system, and to the moderators who would have to keep an eye on every status update ever made.
Not that it isn't a neat idea! Obviously you're not the first person wonder about it. It's just at this point in time it's kind of a pain in the bum to get rollin'.

I notice some people have made personal RPRs for themselves and often update the Journal on that page like a status for seeking RP, etc. I can't speak for how the mods or site officially feels about this particular method as a topic tho.

We treat those much like character profiles, which are overall easier to moderate anyway with their profile tags & tools! Barring harassment, if somebody post something that you normally would not find acceptable in a user profile (ex: a list of kinks), you can slap up a tag or mature marker.
Lots of folks have a little status update section in their character profiles anyway for OoC matters, so the method you've pointed out is just kind of like an expanded version of that. Instead of one text widget, there's an entire profile/page.
I went on vacation for five days this week (June 6-10), and just put a notice at the top of my profile letting people know I'd be gone and less likely to respond. It worked perfectly, I had people get in touch with me knowing I was out of town and unavailable for this duration.
You're more than welcome to decorate your profile with a little section for your mood and status (as long as it abides to the public profile rules of course) even if it won't send out notifications. I see it often and it gets the job done for most folks it seems.

That link that Copper posted in her first response still contains my most up-to-date thoughts on this request.
I can see the appeal, I can see that it would have benefits, but I also view it as more than we can handle right now -- either from a server load or personnel standpoint.
