Looming over the bustling city was a tall tower, boarded up at the windows, with paintings of dragons and the like covering it's old crumbling walls. It obviously used to be an old hotel, though now abandoned and shut down. The door hangs open loosely, inviting explorers to it's deep depths.

However, a rumor has been spread that a beast lurks within, ready to strike down any who could climb about the ruined tower. 'Tower of hopes' read the sign still attached to the top of the doorway. Small dragons would hiss at passer-bys, and normal goers.

The day starts as average, the sun rising from some darkened clouds. Just another good day for exploring..If anyone dared to put the rumor of a beast in the tower at rest. The beast itself would keep the tower cleaned up, though it was rarely sighted. It walks up the stairs at night, carrying a lantern.

Do you dare to spend as long needed in the tower to find the beast within?...

"Why do I let myself get talked into these things?" Arien asked no one in particular as he eyed the tower. He stood at its base, a sword fastened at his side, a tattered blue cloak fluttering in the wind.

His short black hair seemed immune to movement, although his reluctance was belied by the fire in his blue eyes. He set a gentle hand on the blue sapphire set in his sword's pommel. He knew the rumors, but, well, rumors were one thing. Reality another. Right?

"Well, a dare's a dare. The sooner I climb it, the sooner I can get my reward."

The tower made no reply, but the door moved slightly, as if to challenge the newcomer. The wind blew breifly, a cold chill compared to the warm air around. The towers ladder on the outside had rotted away, only an outline left now. Vines clung loosely to the stones it bore, weathered.

The beast inside watches the newcomer carefully from a hidden window that wasn't boarded up, grinning. A perfect day to scare out someone from it's home, no matter how brave they were. The remains of former adventurers were in a heap beside the door.

Arien regarded the heap of remains with a grimace. "Plus one for appearance," he muttered, ignoring the cold chill as he opened the door.

"Make that plus two." He peered into the interior, wondering if he could just make up the fact he went up to the very top. But he took his dares seriously. So, he stuck a rock in the door to make sure it wouldn't shut too firmly behind him.

Taika's tail twitched as she watched the human go inside the tower. She heard of the rumors and believed they were true but didn't dare to go inside the tower. She only staied around the tower because she knew the clans going after her wouldn't dare come around the tower. She wanted to follow the human inside but she didn't want to have the possibly of getting killed.

The first floor consisted of what must have been the lobby at once, tables still in place. The desk still held a board where the keys could have been, though the keys were all gone. Spiderwebs clung to some walls, to posts and pillars that were intact, somehow. It seemed to be well kept, though no sign of any other life besides the old newspaper on the table.

The newspaper told about how the tower was built to stand for hope against the attack of dragons, but after it was built it became inhabited by an unkown beast. How the beast got into the tower was unknown, but it was known to kill trespassers at night, holding a lanterm as if to lead it's way through each room.

Though the paper was yellowed, very old it seemed.

Arien looked around, scanning the newspaper article and scoffing at the headline. "Wow," he muttered, "someone's got waaay too much time on their hands." He looked up at the spiderwebs. "Or maybe not."

He took his time to look around before wandering back to the front door and peering outside. All seemingly safe on the first floor, he proceeded to the stairs, idly whistling a short tune he'd picked up at a local bar.

(And no posts are being ignored. Anyones free to find their own things in this old tower. Just watch out for the spooks. Hehe. So if you post just as I post, don't worry. Theres less order here, since anyone can appear. xp)

The floorboards creaked as he walked them, dust flying up. A larger spider decides to crawl onto his hand, a tarantula.

The door moves slightly to the girl, hitting loosely against the rock, as if to beckon her ito it's dreary depths.

Taika got bored after a few seconds and climbed up to the second floor widow and climbed in carefully and slightly quietfully. She wonder around the second floor her ears twitching at every sound in the room. She wanted tto see if the rumors ere ture, but all in the name of curiousity, not a bet or anything, just Taika being herself.

Arien yelped when he felt something on his hand, and he flinched, throwing the object to the ground. He looked down to find it was a tarantula, and breathed a sigh of relief. Just a big bug. Nothing to be afraid of.

"They need an exterminator," he muttered, realizing only a moment later that his yell had probably echoed up the stairs for who knows how far. "Well, so much for surprise. Assuming there's anything even here..."

The second floor held a hallway, and the girl had ended up inside a dusted old room woth spiderwebs.

The echo rattles upstairs.

The beast scowls, and kicks some rocks down the stairs, stirring up dust as they fell down a few feet, sounding like hail falling within the silenced halls and rooms that still stood despite the old age.

Taika groaned at seeing where she ended up. "Great, I had to end up in a hall." She sighs. "Let's just hope it leads to that creature I heard about." She had caught the humans yelp and what he said with her strang shaped ears. Her tail twitched back a forth. She walked throught the hall way trying not to get too many cobwebs on her slighty furry body.

The sound of rocks crumbling had Arien grabbing for his hilt. "Easy, man, the place is old. It's probably crumbling from age."

He took a deep breath and then found himself on the second floor. Something caught his attention though: footprints. And they looked recent. And perhaps not entirely human?

He unsheathed his sword, following the footprints warily.

The beast watches from the rafters. It took a deep breath, then screeched like a bat, causing a flurry of the wing fiends to get startled and flutter anout angryly on the second floor, screeching as well and beating up spiderwebs and a few wasps in the fray.

Takia screamed at the bats then ducked her head out of the way. She noticed she could feel the human coming closer and hoped that whatever made the bat screeching sound was to help and scare her. She wished she had a human from so that hopefully the human wouldn't think she was the beast inside the tower. "Curoiusity killed the cat, now it is gonna kill me." She sighed, knowing if the human sees her she is as good as dead, she saw that the human had a sword. She ran up to the thrid floor, her footsteps making not a lound noise but lound enough to make her groan and for a human to hear.

Arien swung his sword out of reflex, ducking as the bats flew past. He lowered his sword and growled.

"Alright, that's it. I'm getting to the top of this tower and then coming right back down." He sprinted forward, up the stairs.

Once it sensed the two were out of sight, the beast hops down and cackles madly, and chases them, grinning evily.

The stairs creak and groan under the weight, rocks bouncing a bit. At one point a huge spiderweb blocked the upper entrances, thick and pure white, though no sign was there of any equally giant spiders, it seemed.

Taika heard someone cackling and ran up the stairs. "This is just my luck it is true about the beast." She ran right into the spiderweb and at first she screamed in suprise then fell to the floor she stopped her scream middle stride. She looked around to see if anyone was close and started to get the spiderweb off her but it was hard to tell against the white parts of her fur. She groaned and then finally got the spiderweb off and tossed it to the ground. She stood and sprited up more stairs.

Hearing something behind him, Arien stopped and turned to face it, brandishing his sword defensively.

"I don't care what you are, but if you think you're going to stop me with some cheap tricks, I'm not buying it."

The beast came running up until a white figure stood in front of him, clawed hands spread, though it was breathing heavily to catch it's breath, fur stained in dried blood.

''Hehehe..What cheap trick?'' It cackled, twitching it's eyes. ''You were dared to come here, and now I have two snacks.''
