Kai didn't travel very fast, but he kept up a ground-eating stride that would get them where they were going; and Emily wasn't as heavy as he had expected.

"Yes, Em?" he asked, hearing her voice in his ear. If he was at all nervous for what they might encounter, he didn't show it.

Emily whispered to him " Why are we leaving? Where are we going? " She said looking around as her head hurt

He glanced back at her, surprised. "We're heading to the abandoned village; didn't we agree on that? It's the only place free of Hunters. You sure you're feeling okay?"

Emily looked scared " oh okay, a village. " she said looking around. " but my head hurts horribly "

"Would feeding help at all?" he asked, wondering if blood was a cure-all. But it would require him to hunt; and he hadn't done that before. He wasn't sure he wanted to start--given that his inner vampire was already raging to cut loose.

Emily looked " No, all be fine " She jumped off his back and used him to help her walk

They walked for what seemed like ages. But it was only half a day. They had to travel slower because of Emily

At long last, he saw the outlines of the abandoned village coming into view. His neck prickled uncertainly. "Is it just me," he began, "or do I feel like we're being watched?"

Emily opened her eyes to her hissing. She ignored her head and looked around. She then turned her fangs bared but she quickly undid that. She couldn't fight she was to weak in this form

"Don't bother trying to fight," said a voice in front of them. "You are outnumbered and will serve wonderfully as prey. You and the injured one."

Kai stopped short, the hem of his trenchcoat dragging in the dirt. "Who are you? What do you want?" He eyed the man in front of him; he looked ragged and rather sunburnt. He couldn't tell if the man was a Day Walker beginning to turn Vampire, or a Werewolf that had seen better days. "We're not human." Kai added.

The man shrugged. "Do you think that matters to us?"

Emily turned to Kai. She moved closer to him " I wouldn't ever give up a fight when i am hurt. Its in my blood not to " She whispered into Kai's ear " if he wants i fight. You know what to do " She looked at her cross then to him. She stepped foward and hissed " what are you? "

(Dice roll; Odd = werewolf; Even = vampire)

The man smiled and spread his arms. Those marks were definitely from the sun, Kai saw. "Day Walker, but not for much longer," Kai whispered back to her.

The man laughed. "Indeed, though you I see are both Day Walkers. Do you really think such younglings as you can go up against the three Masters who live here--and their pets?"

Kai froze. "Since when do vampires keep pets?"

Emily hissed and then bared her teeth. She looked at him and looked scared. " Show your friends, pets, and real form. I want to see how strong you are. This is all we are no inner form or anything " She said as her eyes stared at the guy. She grew a tiger tail and flicked it back and forth

The man before them laughed. "My real form? You couldn't handle my real form. Not for a couple of bite-sized morsels like you." He pulled a whistle that hung around his neck and blasted two notes.

Kai drew his dagger and lunged for the man, intending to kill him. He only got halfway when a force to be reckoned with threw him abruptly to the left. He gasped, feeling his ribs creak from the impact and then he was sliding in the dirt and struggling to regain his feet.

"Emily, look out. These aren't just normal vamps." He was staring at a wolf...a werewolf.

Emily hissed as she heard this. Her eyes turning red and her hair turning white. But she still had her crystal on...

She hissed as she was turning into her inner form. But her cross broke, shattered comepletly. She looked up her eyes dark, blood red, horrible. She ran at them and broke through the force feild " DONT MESS WITH HIM!!! " She said kicking the guy into the air

Kai tackled the wolf and bit deep into its neck. For a moment blood filled his mouth and he couldn't help but give into the reaction to tear out its throat.

The wolf died with a gurgling howl, and then he was being shaken as more wolves attacked. And he wasn't the only one.

The man who had been kicked by Emily, landed a few feet away in a crouch. He laughed. "You're gonna have to do better than that." His fangs emerged from his jaw and he ran at her, disappearing a moment to reappear behind her and lunge for her neck.

Emily elbowed the guy and then picked him up by the throat. She threw him at the tree head first. This was different.. This was a different Emily.

She turned at where Kai was. She twirled and red orbs flew at the werewolves and they all died. She smiled and walked to Kai. She picked him up and then she walked softly over to a tree and laid him down. This Emily had no emotions except when you pissed her off

The blood lust was too strong in him, and the being shaken and torn by teeth too close to his rescue. He fought against Emily--sinking his teeth into the nearest flesh he could find.

Already blood stained his clothing, it trailed down his mouth and stained his face. He had become more monster than human.

Emily bared her fangs as his teeth interned her arm. She was pissed now

She ran at them and killed more werwwolves

The Day Walker who had hailed them, ran for his undead life. The remaining werewolves passing into the darkness of the trees to escape the would-be slaughter.

The Masters would be informed of their arrival; they had already passed their first test.

Kai struggled to his feet, his green eyes dark but beginning to lighten as the blood lust faded. He trembled as he began to reassert his self-control and realized he was covered in blood...

Emily turned angrier as Kai had bitten her and the stupid werewolves. She ran into the shadows following them. She smiled " guess what. She's gone! " she ran at the werewolves killing more as blood covered her " no more nice girl, ever! "
