"Go on, CD. It's just a carwash. You'll feel better afterwards." Chris encouraged. "20 feet shouldn't be too bad. Maybe my dad knows someone who can help..."
CD drove into the carwash afterwards, though shutting here eyes so her windsheild could be seen.
''CDs been in the ocean, she must have earned a distrust of water from it.'' 54 inquired.
''CDs been in the ocean, she must have earned a distrust of water from it.'' 54 inquired.
Clutch ran his wipers over his windshield, feeling the smoothness. "Oh, I didn't think about that. But it's not like salt water. This stuff doesn't corrode and you feel all sleek and everything. She'll be pleasantly surprised, I think. And the water is just a fine mist--powerful, but not drowning worthy."
CD pulled out a few mnutes later once she had been washed. But her paint had got washed off to expose a cool blue color with dark blue highlights.
Clutch wouldn't notice because he didn't have cameras. It was Chris who would because he popped out of the car to take a spin around...and stopped in surpise.
"CD? What...what color are you normally?"
"CD? What...what color are you normally?"
''I'm purple with dark purple highlights around my numbers. What happened?'' As she opened her brown eyes and saw her blue hood. ''Aw, my paint got washed off..''
"Guess you're blue now. That might be better in case we uncover this AI core. It won't recognize you--maybe."
Clutch sighed and puttered over to where Chris and CD were talking. "Are we heading back now or what?" he asked.
Chris looked at CD. "Well, are we going AI core hunting?"

''Let's hurry before the signal dies!'' She exclaimed, her core beeping.
Clutch tuned into 54. "You ready for this? Can you even sense this other AI?" he asked his hanger-on.
Chris nodded. "Let's go, but we'll stick with the speedlimit, shall we?" He got back into CD and buckled himself in. It was probably good he had the AutoWrench with him as well as oil.

''Your core is keeping mine from detecting things.'' 54 hissed.
CD shifted into drive and headed to the beach she had been towed out of weeks earlier, the signal getting stronger.

"Well excuse me for ruining your detector," Clutch muttered. "You're not exactly helping my sensor either." The constant beeping had turned into one long signal call that he'd tuned out or dismantled until it was pretty much unheard.
"Chris, or CD if you can pass this on to Chris, I can't triangulate unless 54 is removed. My AI sensor is going nuts."
Chris watched the scenery flash by. "Wow, it's been a while since I've been out here."

CD's core beeped in responce and she told Chris what Clutch had said. ''Yea, this was where Clutch found me..Rusted out.''
Chris whistled. "I'm impressed. I never would have found you out here."
Clutch honked his horn. "That's because you don't have internal sensors. I'm surprised you humans can do anything productive."
Chris scowled at Clutch. "You mean like create things that can have internal sensors? Right, let me go back in time and talk your creator out of constructing you..."

54 scowled her her core initiated Clutch's brakes to send him into a screeching halt. ''Shut up, both of you! The more time you spend arguing the less time we have to find the fallen plane!'' She snapped, core turning cold again. CD slowed down and looked at the two, snorting.
"Gah- what are you doing? Those are my brakes!" Clutch yelled at 54. And then shivered as her core went cold. "Chris--she's making me cold again! And she's trying to override my system!"
Chris shook his head. "Clutch, quit complaining. Alright, CD, do you know where the core is?"
Chris shook his head. "Clutch, quit complaining. Alright, CD, do you know where the core is?"
''I'm not overriding them. My core still holds the data for all my mechanics. Therefore what you see is my core matching up the coding to move small things. Overriding you would be controlling you fully. My core didn't react to yours, so I'm seperate.'' 54 inquired as she allowed Clutch to drive once more.
''It's right here.'' As she drove to the edge of where she had been found. ''Oh, my badge is here too....'' She said frowning. ''Clutch, the core was right under me when you found me so long ago. How did you not detect it too...?''

Clutch scowled and sprayed washer fluid everywhere. "Why do you think? My sensor is delicate. It's probably why I detected you in the first place though. My sensor found the signal strengthened by two but then it went haywire when I found you so I couldn't detect that there was a second AI core in the sand beneath you. I might be state of the art, but I'm not that good."
''Theres a dead bee here too.'' CD said, staring at it breifly.
''Either way, 20ft under here is the amber core. It's signal is weak.''
''Either way, 20ft under here is the amber core. It's signal is weak.''
"Right, so um how are we going to get at it?" Clutch asked. He spun his tires, spewing sand everywhere. "Because while I like to spin my wheels....I doubt that'll move 20 feet of sand in any kind of record time."
Chris frowned and looked at the dead bee. Then at the water. "Well, if high tide reaches this far up the beach, we'll be in trouble if we start now. We'd need to wait until just after high tide to get the maximum amount of time to uncover it. Or maybe find a backhoe to start digging. A shovel is gonna take a while."

''The box is pretty large that around the core. It's got a delay signal..Ratjer a very complicated core. The tag from the systemic factory numver is 557735. Translated into letter it is FearFlyers Inc. What kind of company is that? The data search says your dad used to work there...I think..?''
