Jim brightened. "Forgotten because of rust? That could work too. But I'm sure if the rust is cleaned up, you'll recall more than you can now."

Chris shook his head grinning. "How are you planning to do that, Jim? Her core is working fine."

Jim pursed his lips together. "Core, perhaps, but what about connections to it? A robot is rather simple, despite how complex the wiring may seem."

Aaron heard the chuckle and tensed in spite of himself. "You're not planning on kidnapping me, are you?"

''N...No. I have my own secrets, but if I told you one yo'd freak out.'' 54 said, gulping.


''My core is rather...Picky on who touches it. It has a mind of it's own, and even Chris has a rough time iin fiddling with it. My wirings are very sensitve, as each is constantly scanning for new threats or attacks. I have sensors in my tires that adjust to terrains. My core used to be bigger until a chip of it came off in an attempt to re-make me. As you can tell, 54 was the end result.''

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "I'm a professional racer, 54, I doubt there's anything that'll faze me. Well, assuming we're not going to wreck." He kept an eye on the road, but otherwise was fine with letting 54 maintain control.

Jim sighed. "Oh. That makes it harder. At least you told me now instead of later. Does that work though only if you're running? What happens if you're off?"

''The core keeps me alive!'' CD hissed, backing away a bit.

''.....I er....Killed 89 humans once...'' 54 squeaked.

Jim raised his hands in surrender. "I only meant can you turn yourself off? I didn't mean to imply that I would turn you off, or take your core, or whatever."

Aaron snorted and then coughed when he realized the car was being serious. "What do you mean, once? In one go? Or did you spread it out?" He kept his tone neutral but it took some effort. "And why?"

''I can turn myself off, yes.'' She hissed.

''Humans tried to disable me once...They all got killed.'' 54 said coldly.

"Okay then...I guess I won't be turning you off. You're fixed up anyhow, as far as I can see. If you have wiring problems, that I'll leave to Chris since you're so touchy about it." Jim brushed off his hands and looked around. "So, where'd Aaron go?"

Chris grinned. "He took 54 for a spin in his Ferrari. I figured the two of them would get along alright."

Aaron shrugged and relaxed. At least 54 had a reason and didn't just go on a random killing spree. Besides that, she was efficient. "Disabled, huh? Well, I'm all for fixing up cars and tuning them to the best of their ability. Take this Ferrari. I got it half price because the engine was a wreck and the transmission was practically ruined. But a little of bit work later, and she's purring like a kitten. Though if you work her up enough, she'll growl like a tom." He grinned. "If you take the left exit up here, we'll end up on the highway leading out of town. You can mash the pedal, er, not hold back after that and bring her up to speed."

''I was frozen for years and the only reason my core was moved is because my body exploded. Then the FF exploded and nearly killed CD.''

"Sounds like you went through some rough times. What's FF?" He frowned, not recalling the mention of that.

''The FF is a creation of FFinc. A powerful airplane-like enteity that fought in wars before it crashed. It's hostile, but after it exploded some data was lost. I can only hope no one got ahold of it from Chris.'' As she went to the exit carefully, not crashing into a car that nearly hit her and made her hink her horn loudly.

In spite of himself, Aaron reached for the wheel at the closeness of the near accident. He didn't quite put his hands on it and only after a moment when they had recovered, did he lower his hands again.

"Idiot driver," Aaron muttered under his breath. "His insurance wouldn't even cover the front bumper."

Back to 54, he winced. "If it's that destructive, the best bet is to either wipe it clean or burn it altogether. If it's already wiped clean though, I don't imagine there would be too much trouble with it--but my knowledge of AI programming is pretty much nil. I know a lot more about racing."

''Well, it has enough surge to ko cars and humans alike. Trying to tame it would be foolish unless one is asking for death. I used to race, but then police found out I existed and now know everything about me. They use special cars that can scan a core and then tell whos core it is or what its made of and warrants that are out for it to be caputured and stuff.''

Aaron's face paled. "You're kidding, right?" He suddenly seemed nervous and it wasn't because of 54's driving. "If they have that kind of technology, I might be in trouble."

She chuckled lightly, her core starting to pulse as a surge of cold blasted through the ferarri and it started to shake. ''Hold on. Tight.'' She inquired, blue electricity moving around the hood, shifting the gears carefully and moving things around.

Aaron twitched his brow and grasped the edge of his seat. "Hold on tight? What are you doing to my car?" He could hear the grinding of gears and his stomach dropped as he felt something shifting around below his seat.

Within minutes a giant robotic cat was running where the car had been, with Aaron in a seat in it's head. 54 ran faster as she hopped over a police car, landing in front and turning around as she ran back to the garage quickly. Even as a large cat she avoided traffic, and the ride was relatively smooth.

Aaron was silent as his car completely transformed and he hung on for dear life. When they finally did reach the garage, he was silent. Too stunned to speak.

"Um, thanks." He said mechanically. "Does Chris know you can do this?"

''Well, the first time I was in my old body.'' She replied, then looked around for Chris, eyes looking around. ''But this time I didn't trigger it..''

Hearing a weird sound outside the garage, Chris and Jim stepped out. Chris' face went blank as he stared at the strange creature with Aaron inside it.

"What did you do, Aaron?" Chris asked.

Aaron chuckled nervously. "What do you mean you didn't trigger it? Who triggered it then? Can you change my car back into a car?" To Chris he only shook his head. "I have no idea...I'm wondering if 54 knows."

54 grunts. ''My core surged and I changed into this. And scared Aaron, then almost got hit by a car earlier.''
