Yea, I just joined. Hello and all that, I gotta make this quick. I only have a small amount of time to get dressed and head off to work.

I've been role playing for years, I've got experience in only role playing and making Original Characters and playing those OC's with other Original Characters and that's where I like to keep things. And I'm afraid persona characters just don't count, nor am I interested in role playing with them.

Now, I am 27 years old and eventually I'll figure out how to actually make a character on here! Haha, I am nice, honest. But I can be a little abrasive. But I'm honest and I do my best to be a good friend. Role playing for me has been a lot of things and it's come to the level of a hobby now, I just want to have fun and create stories with people.

By "persona" do you mean casual RPers who mix up IC and OOC randomly? We don't really do... any of that here, that I'm aware of. It's typically considered bad form to mix up IC and OOC.

If you need help figuring out how to finish creating your characters here, don't be afraid to ask!

Hello Peridotite, welcome to the RPR! I personally have seen a few people do persona RP, but the style is so incredibly rare around here that you're not likely to run into them as Kim said.

We're a friendly bunch and love to answer questions and help people out! The Help database is pretty extensive but if you get lost or are unsure, just ask away. There's a very nifty article on How to create a character here, I hope that can get you started!

I have actually seen this happen, or rather I've seen people who RP in first-person. However, by "persona", that usually means that it's a character modeled after oneself (for instance, I had a friend create a character who had his name and personality and everything; only difference was he had mutant powers for the setting).


But anyways, welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. We have a lot of great RPers who have been roleplaying for several years, and there is an amazing plethora of OCs here on RPR. If you have any questions, just feel free to ask!

I don't think of first person writing as necessarily indicative of persona play! Although a lot of persona play is done that way.

Not at all, persona characters is when a person makes themselves into a character and the character is an extension of themselves. So lets say your character is in a role play with their persona character, and they develop a relationship. A persona player typically will treat that relationship as a real one because as far as they are concerned everything their character is doing is also them doing it.

Honestly, the inability to separate yourself from a character isn't a healthy way to RP.

Yeah, persona play is an utter rarity here. I have seen a few people make a character based on or inspired by themselves like Celestia said, but not so far as to put their RL selves in a roleplay, which, as Kim said, is bad form.
