Guardian_Girl and I are planning on starting a LOTR RP.

This is for discussing plot and such and seeing if anyone else would like to join in.

Boom! I'm here. I am using Nyx she will be just a half elf, I am eliminating her dragon half for the rp.

Any ideas on plot? Generally I RP stories completely outside the movies and simply new adventures in middle earth but I've done some cool RPs that follow the movies or cross paths with characters etc... or would you like to just start and go and come up with plot etc as we go? (Which I am cool with too. As I said, I am pretty casual with my RP)

At this point, I have absolutely no ideas. I don't really care if it follows the books/movies or not.

Well, I can come up with a plot if you like. I've got an idea I'd like to try.

Alrighty, I'll start the RP thread and give a brief introduction. It's a loose plot so open to any ideas or additions as players see fit.

May I join, sir? I love the books and the movies, but nothing beats a good book. I have the hobbit and the LOTR series, though I need the Silmarillion now that I know of its existence! Anyway, if I can join, Xylia will be turned into a half elf in this rp.

Ohh... you have to get the Silmarilion! It's pretty much my favorite book ever and (to me at least) it was way more fun to read than the hobbit. I actually have not read the original trilogy because I read so slow and it takes a LOT to keep my attention. After going from the Silmarilion (which I loved) to the hobbit that was so much simpler it was all I could do to keep reading the hobbit. I liked the book and story it was just so much simpler written. I never made it onwards to the next three.

You should definitely read it! It's not everyone's style but it is worth the read even if it is not for all the info you get.

Yeah, I had heard that Tolkien wanted it one book but somewhere along the line it got split into three. I used to know a lot more of that stuff... you become and adult... try not to grow up but get forced to (or at least act like you have) and time becomes less and less available and all that info goes away slowly but surely....

Yep. It was cheaper to print in three parts than as one big book. I will never grow up.

HAha. Well, if you have to grow old... but you don't have to grow up. Good aspirations. lol

I've got the RP thread up and opened with an introduction post. Basically it is set after the movies and the happenings of the one ring are mostly forgotten. Another darkness starts to spread over middle earth from the Misty Mountains. (Though not as evil as the One ring) and Rivendel (being they are closest to it other than some dwarves who ignore it) are commissioning adventureers to create a team to go investigate the source of the darkness.

So you guys can jump in anywhere you like. We can RP the trip to Rivendel and meet up along the way or whatever you like. I was thinking of having my guy start in Bree but that's not set in stone I can adjust that at a whim. So let me know what sounds good.

Alrighty, sounds good. We could just all start in Bree if that would make it simpler.

That sounds good, cause I was going to make my character a Ranger of the North and have them come from Bree.

From what you tell me, I will most definitely get the Silmarillion when I have the first chance. For Xylia, I'm working on a better background for her but I will make one up for this RP.
