Aridon sat down on the couch whereas Shadow stalked over to the katars. She picked up the pieces and examined them.

The actual Katar blades, which were the big ones, had skulls ingraved in it with one dragon going around all of them. The smaller blade just had a dragon ingraved on the blade. There was also two small bow looking thing, one completely disassembled and the other one fully assembled. The strange thing was, there was only one small blade.

"Why can't you look this nice." Shadow frowned at Aridon after she set the blades down.
"It's not my choice!" Aridon defended.

"Calm down you two." He said, coming out the bathroom. He walked back over to the other side of the room and pulled the other small blade out the wall. "And I just had the walls painted last week." He said.

"If you're blaming me for putting the blade there, you're dead wrong." Shadow sneered.

"I'm not blaming you for it. Thing went off as I was taken by it apart and sliced my cheek as it flew by." He said, setting the blade on the table.

"I don't know how you could've screwed that up." She commented as she made her way over to the couch and plopped down next to Aridon. "Jack this is Aridon. My twin brother and weapon."

He walked over and sat down on the table. "Hey, so your siblings who are also partners. That's great to hear." He said, holding his left hand, which had the missing finger, out to her.

Shadow looked at his hand but didn't take it. Fear turned in her stomach but she fought to keep it from showing on her face.
"Yeah, it's great isn't it?" Aridon smiles brightly.

He nodded and out his hand down. "Well, Lord Death wanted me to keep an eye on you two. And since you two are going to the academy tomorrow, I guess I'll be going back to the academy as well." He said.

Shadow crossed her arms. "What did he say? Specifically. We're not children." She smiled bitterly.

He took his gloves off, revealing the tiny nub that was his finger. He then took his sunglasses off, revealing his eyes, which were different colors, one blue and the other green. "Nothing. Just to keep an eye on you." He said.

She peered curiously at his discolored eyes. "Fine."
"Where's your partner?" Aridon asked, quickly changing the subject.

He sighed. "That's the problem my friend. My partners actually dead. He died while we were fighting a witch, which is where I lost my finger." He said, rubbing the nub if a finger.

"Oh. I'm so sorry." Shadow's tone was shockingly understanding and really sympathetic. "That must have been awful."

"It was. We were both raised in the same orphanage and adopted by the same people. He was like a brother to me. And for the cherry on top, that witch soul was the last soul we needed before he would've became a Death scythe." He said, wiping his eyes with his thumb.

"That's awful." Shadow's ear dropped. "Did you kill the witch?"
"What's the deal with being a Death Scythe? It doesn't seem all that glorious." Aridon pouts and Shadow shoots him a pointed look.

He nodded. "Somehow managed to kill her with my katars, which I then had fix because the fight caused them warp a bit." He said. "My finger andy brother weren't he only thing she left as a reminder of her. She used her sword and sliced an X in my chest, and my soul." He continued, taking his shirt off the reveal a large X shaped scar on his chest.

"That's painful. Is that why you haven't been able to find a new partner?" Shadow asked. Her vibrant red eyes were soft.

"Well, it's kinda hard to find one when you're not going to the academy. I've been solo hunting ever since he died." He said.
