''My head started hurting badly and I yowled. The ground rumbled violently then I collapsed.''
"Maybe not; maybe a snare or a trap of some sort," Hassan conceded. "Either way, if they're responsible for it." He grimaced. "This will not end well."
"Was it by your doing, or someone else's that they died?" Hassan asked, warily.
"Well in either case, the problem was resolved. We'll just keep an eye out for any other men in black--assuming they're still around." Hassan looked over at the water lioness. "Is she going to wake up anytime soon, or do we need to carry her to the Glass Depository?"
The water lion starts to stir, coughing out sand. ''Maybe we need to put something over her mouth so she doesn't try biting us.''
Murat produced a coil of rope, but Hassan already pulled some leather free. They paused to look at each other.
"Leather won't chafe as much," Murat conceded.
Hassan smiled grimly. "Wuss; you just don't want to get too close to her." He made a loop in the leather and then quickly dropped it over the water lioness' jaws before tightening it. "What about her claws?"
Murat had the rope ready, simply binding her two front feet and her two back feet together loosely enough she could walk, but not attack. "That better?"

The water lion stirs again, then awake. But with her mouth covered she stood shakily, ears pinned back. She eyed the two with a deep distrust that few lions could have.
Murat felt bad for the water lioness. "I'm sorry, but if you didn't attack us, we wouldn't have to resort to this."
She just hisses, but stays put. Her large wings were still free to move. She contemplated moving them.
She then flinged and flapped her wings harshly, kicking up a flurry of sand.

Hassan and Murat scurry away from her wings.
"I thought you had her secured!" Hassan yelled.
"Well, I didn't think about the wings--I'm sorry." Murat yelled back.
Sand kicked up and the camels chewed their cuds as though this was nothing usual. Indeed, in the desert, sand was nothing to blink at.

She continues flapping them until the skies darken with thunder as the thunderbird returns.
"Go for cover!" Murat yelled at Hassan before grabbing the water lioness and shoving her towards the nearest form of shelter--in this case under a bazaar tent since they had left the temple more or less behind them. It would stop the rain, but it wouldn't stop the Thunderbird.
Cass darted after them with a yowl as the rain came pouring down.
The graceful bird of thunder landed on a tall building in the city, then screeched, thunder booming as lighting bolts danced around it's large grey feathers. It's talons were sharp, and the bird was about as big as a giant circus tent.

"Well now what?" Murat asked, glancing at Hassan and then at Cass and the water lioness. "Can't you do something with the water?" Murat asked of the latter.
The water lion refused to say anything as a lighting bolts hits the city violently. Cass yowled, and got behind Hassan.
The thunderbird screeches again, and flew up, watching the people carefully.

Anyone caught outside in the downpour had already run for cover; which meant that Hassan, Murat, Cassandra, and the water lioness weren't the only ones huddled beneath the tarp.
"Well, now what?" Hassan muttered.
Murat gave a sharp whistle, calling Jasafar to him. The camel came at a steady clip, not really caring about the rain. But with the camel's arrival, weapons came too. Murat grabbed for a javelin now that he was all healed up and nodded at Hassan.
Hassan grinned and took another javelin. "Let's see if we can scare it off without injuring it or ourselves."

The thunderbird screeched, and a bolt of lighting hit dangerously close to the tent. Cass freaked and the sands outside started to whirl violently.
Murat and Hassan flinched, and the camels inched closer to the tent. But armed with their javelins and now with the sand kicking up, Murat and Hassan had no choice but to return back to their tent.
"Cass? Can you blow the sand into the thunderbird's eyes?" Murat asked, recognizing the swirl of sand.
