Over a century has passed since the fall of the Baelanic empire that had once spanned the known world. Their roads and bridges still flow across the land to connect one ruined husk of civilization to another... their great works now monuments to what has been lost as none know how mortal hands could craft such massive and beautiful architecture. Those who pass as scholars now conjecture as to the cause of the Baelan downfall: stagnant society, a displeasing of the gods, slave uprisings, invasions, or a great plague. No matter the truth, to the various peoples and races living in the former Baelanic domains contend with more pressing problems: roving raiders, famine, sickness, and various beasts no longer kept in check by imperial garrisons.

In this world our protagonists find themselves doing what they must to survive and, mayhaps, thrive in these Shattered Lands.

I am looking for a few players for a free-form fantasy RP. Preferably just one character each, or least one main character, as I literally just came up with the basic setting above while typing this post up. Each player will be able to help form the world through the story as there is no specific geography or demographics to conform to, allowing us to introduce lands, races, and other peoples to be incorporated into an accepted canon.

If there is enough interest, this could eventually turn into a group with a more established world based upon this initial RP.

Does this character seem suitable enough?

On one hand your character's disposition fits in quite well... though I have questions about a few things:

1) I presume they are from somewhere far from the Baelanic Empire's reaches considering their age and equipment?

2) So High Elves are all 7-8 foot giants who weigh over two hundred pounds? I wouldn't say I'd disallow that, but in all fairness of world-building this would have to be consistent.

Now I intend to use a character whose existing background doesn't fit, due to an existing setting, but otherwise should work using an introductory post to pad out the differences in background to make them setting appropriate so obviously the characters don't need to be tailor made to work here.

1) While Bohtimbhar's realm would probably more or less out of reach, at this point he's more a migrating warlord, so he won't be stuck far out for too long.

2) I'd say the High Elves are indeed tall, but it was probably a mistake on my part to not explain that Bohtimbhar was larger thanks to being conditioned to his military background, so while I can imgaine that most High Elves have those signature genetic advantages that make them so haughty in most fantasy, I may have inflated the guy himself a little bit (It was back in 2013 when I made his profile, so that'll need changing).

Well this should do... so I have been pm'd by a few others, so here is a brief run-down of the characters involved beyond yours:

A nomadic dragon-slaying Desert Elf, a cursed wandering Human warrior on an uncertain quest, and a grasslands Felician (Cat-Folk) who has been sent forth to seek and share knowledge between tribes.

I think I'd be interested in this. The first character of mine that comes to mind is my wild boy, but I'd be willing to use a different character for better dynamics.

Wow, okay so a fair number of people seem interested! I think this is where I am going to cut off submissions to keep things from getting too cumbersome. I am working on building a basic group for the RP, where we can start things off. I know I said I would wait on it, but with so many people a group with forums might things more manageable.

For now I'll have an OOC forum so we can discuss characters and look at creation of a few starting forums for the various characters to start things off at.
