Moon (played by Ms_Draca)

Moon(it would be Mune where he is from but the writing used where he is from is not the same as where he is now so Moon it shall be). This boy was raised in isolation with only his four male tutors to interact with. He was being trained to rule a planet as the chosen heir of the king. He was not the king's only child or the eldest but the king chose him anyway for reasons the boy was never told about. The king had many children including a son much older than Moon. This older half brother was deemed unfit to rule by the king. The young man did not agree and stirred up some of the people. With his mob of friends and supporters the elder prince took the king and queen hostage and executed them. Some of the king's wives were killed as well. The murderous prince proclaimed himself king and seeing his young half brother as a threat to his rule he first tried to kill him, but thinking it perhaps too cruel exiled him to the planet below. The commoners below, the new king knew, had no way of sending the boy back to the moon above where the royalty and the elite lived.

(The socity of the rich is very strict. Men and women only interact to reproduce and male children are taken from their mothers as soon as they can be to be raised by male tutors. Female children which are seen as inferior among the royality are raised by their mothers and often killed if they should offend any male of their society. The wealthy who are not royalty are less likely to kill their daughters as they will grow into young women which the king may take as one of his wives and so may give birth to a prince, perhaps even the next king. While the maternal grandparents may never see the child, the status the grandfather would gain from having such a grandson would be worth whatever caring for a daughter could cost him.

Looking for at least one person for this idea. Not sure what the full plot will be. The rich dress in one onesie style outfits usually in drab colors for children and bright colors for adults. For children the outfits also act as a diaper. It is not clear if this is true of the adults as well but it is less likely that they'd keep the function of keeping 'clean' if using an actual toilet means they can change clothes more often.

Terminology: Breeder = female. Dropped = born. hatching = baby. Acceptable hatching = boy. Unacceptable hatchling = girl. Tutor = teacher/babysitter/guardian - always male. The words father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin - are not used by royalty. The people on the planet below talk pretty much like modern humans and have a lower level of tech than the rich - though more advanced than modern day. Synth food is common and cheap on the surface. A synth machine is to them what a microwave is to people of modern day. Gardening is not a hobby on the surface it is what everyone does to put food on the table. The soil is poor in many cities and urban areas. The country is only a little better. Meat is eaten more often as it is easier for many to feed animals on the poor grass that grows than to try to grow food. Community gardens that are kept going with shipments of soil from healthier places keep the people from being malnourished in most families. Big cities have less farmed meat and more gardens, though the gardens are often small. Soda and sweets cost more than synth food and anything from of quality from a garden will bring in good money as will animals that can be milked or who's hair can be used to make clothes. Cotton is not still around but it nearly went extinct and hasn't fully recovered so clothes made with cotton or more often cotton blends are expensive compared to wool or synth fabric - which while cheap is harder to work with so the styles are very simple and plan.

There are forces on the moon that would make even a one way trip by space ship ill advised, besides there are very few places to land one near enough to civilization that the walk to inside wouldn't be dangerous (there is not breathable air outside on the moon) and landing too close would damage the buildings causing other problems. Even if the boy could be sent and equiped to walk to the buildings with a good spacesuit on there is little chance someone would let him inside and keep him as even if they did get him inside word would get out and the king would very likely kill him for coming back. (That the new king would kill the boy if he were sent back while he is still king is something the commoners would figure out right away.))

The blond boy swayed from side to side as he sat between the guards. He knew they were guards because they had told him that was what they were when he'd asked them. He wasn't sure why they wouldn't let him go back to the beach. They'd said something about his mother and father but those words meant nothing to him. They had also said that the king was dead which the boy did know a little something about. He had seen the king and the queen as they were led by their guards past his room, before the door was blocked and he couldn't see them anymore. He supposed the guards they had led them down the hall then had been the ones to kill them. He had been a little upset about it since it was his first time seeing a breeder, what the guards that sat with him called a woman. He had heard about them but he had never seen one before, not one that he could remember seeing anyway. He supposed he must have seen the breeder er woman that dropped him - the people down here called that 'being born'. He didn't remember the woman that borned him, the only woman he'd ever seen was that short look at the queen as she'd walked passed his room. After that the leader of the rebellion, that's what it was being called now, he had come into the boy's room and backed him up against a window. He'd stabbed the boy in the side and somehow or other had pushed the boy through the window. Maybe he'd thrown him, the boy wasn't sure as his memories were fuzzy after the being stabbed part.

The boy had woken up soaked through with water and had crawled from the ocean onto the beach. He'd never seen so miserable before in all his short life. The people that found him said he looked about seven but he felt that he should be a much bigger number than that as he could count to five hundred if he really tried extra hard. There was a lot of talk about who he was and where he was from and one thing led to another and before he knew what was what guards had him gripped tight by the arms and carried off to this inside place to sit and wait. He had learned some things just from listening quietly to the guards talk to each other, there were many of them here. He supposed this place might be their home. They had talked softly because for some reason he couldn't figure out they didn't want him to hear them talking. They'd said he was a prince and that he was from up above. From this he learned, thought he'd already guessed at it, that he'd landed on the surface and these guards being on the surface had to be commoners. He'd learned about them from his tutors. Commoners lived on the big green and blue planet below his window, out in the blackness. They had white clouds that lived in the thing they called sky and these clouds dropped water on them all. It was all very strange to hear about back when he was living in his room with only his tutors and a view of the red sand and purple leafy grass outside and a big green, blue and white half circle of the planet hanging in the blackness beyond the horizon. Now he was down on that big colorful ball and it had so many more colors than he had every imagined there could be in the world. He had more than once asked his tutors what life was like down here saying to them that he needed to know should he ever find himself down here, but they had told him time and again that he would not ever be down here and if he was it would not be until he was much much older, grown in fact - king even, they'd said. He was going to be king when the one who was king died, that's what he had always been told. That king was now dead but the boy was sure he had not become king or much of anything besides hurt and lost. He did not know what becoming a king was supposed to feel like, his tutors had looked quite annoyed when he'd asked about it, but he was sure that the bored tired aching feeling he was feeling as the guard poked him in his sore side, to get him to stop fidgeting, was not how one was supposed to act when one became king.

"Hey, Moon," the guard on the left, the one who'd poked the boy's sore side, said, "The judge will ask you a few questions and start on finding somewhere to put you while we sort this all out. You'll get a nice foster family to stay with for a little while. You understand right? You're too young to be on your own. We have enough street kids as it is and one day someone might come looking for you so it's really best that you get settled with some people that will look after you in the meantime." The boy didn't understand, not really. Yes it was probably better for him to be with other people rather than all alone, but the idea that someone would come for him didn't sound like something that would really happen. The boy pushed against the bench to stand up and shot up a foot into the air. He floated in place for a few seconds until the guards grabbed his legs and pulled him back down. The boy sighed heavily. The difference in gravity and other things that made the surface interesting seemed to be forbidden to him and he would have to stay sitting bored between the guards forever. A bre-woman walked out of a small room and over to the bench the boy was sitting on. "Hi there," she said as she bent down to be at eye level to the boy, "You're Moon, aren't you. My name is Grace. I'm going to walk with you to the judge and these gentlemen," she said nodding at the guards, "will come with us and the four of us will see the judge together." The boy swallowed and nodded his head slowly as he'd been taught to do when talked to. He stared at the woman taking in every detail about her - she was only the second female he'd seen in his life and he worried for a moment that she might go away never to be seen again if he let her out of his sight. The judge was also a woman which suprised the boy a great deal. He knew what a judge was and to have a woman in such a position was a bit unnerving to him thanks to his lopsided upbringing which had made clear that women were only for making hatchlings that is babies and raising other smaller women or whatever female children were called.
