I may have made a thread like this before, but I was more derpy then. So, what are your comfort zones? What do you prefer? Likes? Dislikes?
I could never Roleplay as OCs. It doesn't stop me from interacting with people's OCs, though. I just was never good at making OCs, plus, I don't like editing someone's picture or recolouring. Most of my muses are obscure or hardly known to westerners. Considering my main muse, Akira is from a game that was never released in the west.
I like Paragraph to novella RPs. I am kind of not picky, as long I am given something to work with. I like to make my partner feel happy on what I wrote to 'em. I don' mind one liners, since well, I don't really one line. I save those for fun little banter RPs.
Plotting can be good, but I like going with the flow most of the time. I like having a story unfold.
Day or night. Depends. Depends how I feel. Haha...

Groups? Or One X One
I'll do either canon or OC though I heavily favor the latter. I'll draw a lot of inspiration from others but I like twisting it to my own. I have played a few canon characters though and it can be a lot of fun if you feel like you have a good handle on their personality. End of the day I care more about the quality of the RP than I do about the differences between canon and OC.
I like having a rough plot idea but beyond that I'm willing to let it unfold; of we have a skeleton, we can add the meat as a process. I tend to enjoy playing with 18+ as well; it's just a personal preference as I feel I can be more forward with fellow adults than with minors.

- Do you like to Roleplay as Canons or OCs?
100% OCs all the time. Not only do I dislike RPing them myself don't even like RPing with Canon characters.
- DO you like write in paragraphs or just a one liner?
Almost always paragraphs! Shorter posts are perfectly fine if the situation allows for it (and especially in dice-based RPs) but I definitely tend to gravitate towards longer posts.
- Plot or Go with the flow?
A little from column A, a little from column B! My absolute pet-peeve when it comes to RPing is if I'm the only one to do do any plotting. I don't like to to RP with a character who only ever reacts or a RPer who brings no ideas of their own to the story.
- Do you work better in the day or at night when you do your Roleplay posts?
I preference the evening, but I RP all day. Seriously, as early as 5:30 in the morning (but I think my group can agree I can get a bit crabby at that time of day )
- Groups? Or One X One
OnexOne for most RPs but groups for tabletop style RPs!

Quality for me as well. I never liked the whole Canon vs OC War, since everyone has their own comfort zones there.
Well, I certainly prefer playing ocs, but some canons are fun to play as well(For example Starscream from TFP and all his smuggyness)
I can write really long detailed posts if I have something important planned, but normally I prefer to write about a paragraph in most posts.
PLOT! PLOT ALL THE WAY! I always have trouble just 'going by ear'
And in general I prefer night to day in most affairs.
And I don't mind either way, so long as a post order is involved in group rps.

Do you like to Roleplay as Canons or OCs?
Either/or. I usually find it easier to RP as canons, but it's usually more satisfying to play OCs. I can't just generate OCs on the fly like some people can, I usually have one to a few at a time, no more.
DO you like write in paragraphs or just a one liner?
Paragraphs always.
Plot or Go with the flow?
Either/or. I've had both turn out great.
Do you work better in the day or at night when you do your Roleplay posts?
Eh, it's debatable. I'd say day, because I'm bad at staying up late lately.
Groups? Or One X One
Either. But I prefer that groups be on an instant format, e.g. Furcadia, if possible.

I actually RP both canons and OCs. The reason Lucina is my icon is actually because she's a huge muse of mine. But I prefer to know a fandom and character very well before I RP them which makes an OC less intensive for me.
I prefer paragraphs, and usually write about 2-6 of them at a time, depending on what I am given to work with. Introductions tend to be on the shorter side because I'm not terribly great at openers. One liners do have their place, such as in dice-based combat or casual chat-room based things.
I like to do at least a little plotting before we begin. Even if it's only a couple of lines having a general idea of where the RP is going to go is a great measure of what all involved wants out of it. However, I'm not incredibly strict about plot, wonderful moment often come off random ideas you came up with on the fly!
I generally prefer night. I like to mull over what I want to say next before I reply. However, the problem with this is that I also may not reply as often or quickly as some people want. I'd prefer something with thought than a speedy reply with no effort put into it.
I like both groups and 1X1. Groups do need a type of rhythm or post rotation though as everyone posting in whatever order can get confusing really fast. Generally I prefer anyone I RP with to be over 18 as they tend to be more mature, even when just starting out. Besides, violence, sexuality, and swearing are fun for me!
Another thing is that I generally don't like RPing with people with limited profiles. Now if I can tell you're not just being lazy with it and have little information for a reason that's fine. But people who sum up their character's entire appearance and backstory in one line tend to not have the quality I prefer.

Do you like to Roleplay as Canons or OCs? - OC. Though, my characters are almost always based off a canon character.
Do you like write in paragraphs or just a one liner? - My posts vary in length, but are mostly on the short side.
Plot or Go with the flow? - Go with the flow. I can't plot anything to save my life. And even when I do, I have a lot of trouble following it.
Do you work better in the day or at night when you do your Roleplay posts? - In my current real life situation, time means nothing to me, so I'll say neither. Both times produce equalbad quality posts.
Groups? Or One X One - Groups. I feel more at ease with groups. Especially if one of my friends is in the group too.

Really the only opinion I have on how the rp is done is simply as long as it is good.
Canons can be good IF the character is played properly for instance if someone played Master Chief I would obviously expect Master Chief not Naruto, OC's are always good since the more you get into making them the more creative you can get with them and then if you just play yourself then well you know what you would do simple as that.
Paragraphs with quite a bit of information can be good but at the same time I feel like some of the smallest could have bigger impacts than one with details about what the character is thinking.
For plots they are good since you know roughly what to expect but sometimes not knowing what is next can be rather fun for example I'm with an Asylum RP I don't remember if we established a solid plot but I thought the whole rp would be in the asylum and we would just be messing around in there but now we are a few maniacs breaking out of the place about to cause a havoc where ever we go.
It doesn't really matter to me the time of day/night just as long as I can think straight.
One on one is good since its just the two of you although some people (myself included) get nervous when its just them and one other, on the other hand in groups that problem is semi fixed and if one of you leave it doesn't bring the whole story to a screeching halt but you have to keep track of everyone.

Do you like to Roleplay as Canons or OCs?
OCs. I RPed canons in the past but I've always struggled with the idea that I can never quite play the character like it was intended. That's probably because I can't imagine anyone playing my OCs the way I intended them to be, because I know all the little snippets and details of their inner workings, their past, their future goals, the little quirks that make them, them, etc. If I'm not confident I can pull a character off, I can't play them, so OCs it is!
DO you like write in paragraphs or just a one liner?
Always paragraphs. There will be times when one liners are needed, but when I RP with friends, they usually ask me before posting "What would ___ do if ____ said this or did that?" and then they write my character's one-liner response into their own post, rather than posting, waiting for my one liner, then posting again. My friends and I looove big posts, and this method allows us to wrap up a whole scene within a day rather than spread out over weeks, because we don't waste time on making everything its own post.
It can get pretty detailed and interesting without breaking the pace that way.
Plot or Go with the flow?
I always wonder what an RP without a plot is. Do you get up in the morning and make no short term goals or plans? Even if it's just sitting at the computer RPing, you wake up in the morning with a goal in mind, and through the day you work towards that goal. In the long term, you set a goal for your education, your work, your hobbies, and spend months and years completing those goals, even if they may appear tiny.
I think it's mandatory that an RP has a plot, otherwise it's just meaningless rambling to me. A story has a beginning, a middle and an ending, it is written with a purpose in mind. In fiction, there is a goal for the characters involved to achieve so that the readers are swept away into the story, entertained, left to feel all the feels and then close a book feeling both fulfilled and a sense of loss now that the story is over. I want that same thing in my RPs.
I just can't imagine being content with my character doing random, meaningless things, and having no dreams, no desire to accomplish anything in life, no will to explore and achieve a goal. That is boring to me. It feels empty. I want purpose, I want meaning, and plots are the only way to get that in roleplays for me.
Do you work better in the day or at night when you do your Roleplay posts?
Now that my sleep schedule is back under moderate control, I sleep at night. I get incredibly sick if I pull all nighters and don't get to bed in time, so I pretty much only RP during the day and in the evenings before bed. As long as I feel healthy and awake I write my best posts.
Groups? Or One X One
I'm very inclined towards 1x1 RPs because my attention span is often too short for more. I may do an RP with 2 other people at the same time, but no more than that.
Can you elaborate on what you mean with this? None of my OCs have pictures from others and recolored, and I don't see it as mandatory either. Plenty of mine have no art, or use Dollmaker substitutes, or I throw together a stock photo collage with bodytype, facial shape, hair, eye color, clothing and anything else relevant so that people can picture the character clearly. There are so many resources available to 'dress' your character profile!

Bruiser, you've unlocked a massive text wall coming from me. I love things like this~
Do you like to roleplay as canons or OCs?
OCs, always. Like one or two people have stated, nowadays I don't feel really comfortable RPing as canon characters because I really don't think I can do them justice. Some of the characters I love the most are the opposite of my own personality; I can't really play as them because I give them a dark or hidden side to their personality, thus removing what made them them in the first place. Take Sora from Kingdom Hearts for example: a spirited, optimistic, cheerful young boy. Put him in the hands of an introverted and reserved butt like me, and he's gonna develop a hidden motive or secret desire because that's how I roll. Some roleplayers may not mind that, but some prefer that canon RPers well... stick to canon. Also, I kinda have my personal aversions to role-playing as canon because I had a friend who never pulled their weight when it came to that: they played their own OC and I played my OC, the canon characters, everything. They only took over canon playing when it involved having the canon characters I was RPing as say something their OC wanted to hear. It was basically their wish fulfillment at my expense. Besides, I've always had worlds and characters stuck in my head since I was a child. It'd be a total shame and a waste to let them stay there and not let others see the worlds and the people that I've developed over the years. RP helps with that.
Do you like to write in paragraphs or just a one liner?
I tend to gravitate towards paragraphs , and sometimes multiple paragraphs. I remember the times that I used to do script-style RP when I was still very new. Sometimes, script style required one liners. I hated that the flow could remain stagnant if someone sent you a simple "They sat down" in response to a longer script reply. I soon needed buildup, description, depth: What is your character doing? What are they thinking? Are they toying with something in their environment? What does the environment look like? Since then, I've been weaning myself off playing with script style and one-liners because of that reason, though I do recognize that well-written stories can be created with more concise phrases. To those lucky few who can make a compelling story with one liners: I commend you, because I can't do it anymore. (I also tend to talk a lot via typing, so that's another reason why.)
Plot or go with the flow?
I would love to have a tight plot set sometimes, that way I can keep up with what a person's ultimate destination is and plan accordingly. Sadly, I suck at an end point. Thus, I set up a basic plot or a basic setting and how things should play out at first, then go with the flow on everything else. I feel that too tight of a plot doesn't give me room to improvise when I need to, yet the lack of one gets me and the RP absolutely nowhere because I have too much freedom. But one thing I can't do is create a RP plot by myself. Story plot, I can do that. RP plot, I need to have input from others, and vice versa. That old friend I mentioned earlier? Always left the plot devices and twists to me. They never chipped in with their ideas and just reacted to whatever I had in mind. Unless it was their idea, then any attempt to add some depth was met with them not caring about it and sticking to their undeveloped plan. It got boring and annoying after a while. Someone has to chip in their own ideas, and also hear me out as well, or I feel like I'm dragging dead weight along for the ride. I hate to feel two things with others in a roleplay: that this is my plot and story and the character the other RPer has is just tagging along, and that my character is just a useless extra in a plot about someone else's uber amazing character.
Do you work better in the day or at night when you do your roleplay posts?
I'm a night owl and an all-nighter. Some of my best replies are at night. However, a few key gems are also produced in the daytime when I'm more awake.
Groups? Or One×One?
Hmm. I shine best in one×one, and I absolutely adore it. Ever since my first group RP, I could never fit into one without feeling awkward or nervous that my character pales in comparison to others or that I can't keep up. That and when life calls, I'm only telling one person to hold on a minute and not a whole group, especially when it comes to a pivotal point in a story where my character is involved. Not that I won't try a group RP. I love the massive amounts of effort, lore, and history that comes when many people toss their characters and ideas into a base plot. I just feel better in one×one.

I never was good at making OCs and it isn't my thing. It just doesn't make me comfortable and I just feel "Eh" when I make an OC. It just isn't my thing. Plus, most of the characters I RP as are so obscure or unknown, I add some headcanons onto them. Such as Akira who has extremely sparse info on his character.
I been severely bullied before in my past for being a very good and polite RPer and having someone who was not good at RPing bark at me to make an OC or quit all together to make them happy. I did an OC before in the past, but I just ditched it, since it was not something I felt comfortable with and it wasn't my thing. Nor was I having fun. There is another thing, but I could share that in private...
I mean, I don't wanna come off as sounding a bit pompous, I just take some pride and joy in RPing my obscure canons. Akira, Matsu and even my desert Pirate Bart aren't from well known games. Considering Akira and Matsu are from a Japan only game and Bart came from Xenogears, which was rushed on the second disk.
I just don't like having my own OCs. I guess that is something I can admit.
I do like to thank you for asking me this question, Sanne. I have gotten asked this allot. I just give a polite response.
@TheHook16
I can pretty much vouch how allot of people who do RP a canon and claim to be the best at it, yet still go extremely OOC make me cringe. Unless the RP is an AU/Shattered Glass setting, I can let that slide.
It's when I see someone really butcher the character. Rookie Rpers, well. I can let slide, they can slowly learn and learn the character. It's when someone claims they know the character, but makes them act OOC or just vapid and emotionless. I have struggled with some canons in my past and decided to drop them in favour for ones I feel more suited for my tastes. Which is why I once winched in pure horror at some person ruining one of my favourite Final Fantasy characters.

I just don't like having my own OCs. I guess that is something I can admit.
I do like to thank you for asking me this question, Sanne. I have gotten asked this allot. I just give a polite response.

I apologize, I should have defined my question better. I was primarily focused on the 'I don't like editing someone's picture or recolouring.' part of your statement, because I'm not entirely sure why one would have to take someone's picture or recolor anything for an OC!

I never understood OC theft or pic theft in general and I see that allot on dA with younger people. Mainly with pixiv art being stolen and recoloured.
However, thank you for asking! I just hope my answer was easy to understand.
