Everyone was cheering for them. They stood resplendent, proud, their heads held high and clothed in the typical black robes. They were crying, laughing, talking. There was so much noise that it echoed around the field and back. Cirrus stood at the base of the steps, not really focused on anything. Everything felt like a photograph- frozen in time.

She bit her lip and started walking across the field. She was caught up in a wave of emotions that was confusing. It made her feel happy, then sad again, and she couldn't place the feeling. It wasn't quite like anything she had ever felt before. She decided to just leave before the impact of all the change could hit her.

Lazuli stood in line, with his standard "I don't really care" posture. He didn't really know the people standing next to him, so he didn't bother to start a conversation. Lazuli had gotten everything he wanted. The University he wanted to go to had accepted him. After getting his official diploma and giving everyone his standard smile, he sat down amongst the other students. What a pain this was. Lazuli kept his poker face on as the principal gave them an "inspirational" speech. After all the boring stuff, he decided to head home.

Cirrus caught sight of a familiar person walking the same direction she was. She faintly remembered him being in some of her classes, but not many of them. He had quite the reputation at the school for being standoffish and also part of the 'trouble-makers'. He himself didn't really fit the description, though. The couple of times that she had talked to him, he had seemed quiet and rather apathetic.

She decided to approach him.

"Hey!" She greeted him cheerfully as she caught up to him, walking next to him. "I think you were in some of my classes. Your name's Lazuli, right? Lazuli Imperium?"

Lazuli turned to see a blonde girl. Lazuli's first thought was, 'Unknown Human! Run!'. After a couple of awkward seconds of staring, Lazuli finally realized who she was.
Lazuli pointed to her, "You're Cirrus. Cirrus von Strause. The girl who wanted to be a psychologist." Lazuli didn't really know why she decided to talk to him. Lazuli was known for causing trouble. Lazuli grinned and tilted his back a little, as if talking to a little child(Cirrus was about 4 1/2 - 5 inches shorter than Lazuli), "Can I help you?" Lazuli remembered seeing her a couple of times, often in the hallways and in several of his classes. She was really intelligent compared to most of this school.

"Yeah!" She took a deep breath and looked back at the graduation ceremony. "Wow. That's just... wow. Does it feel like anything to you? I don't really feel anything right now. I mean, it feels like I should be sad that we're suddenly all just leaving, but I'm not. I don't feel anything. I am sad, but it just hasn't hit me yet. I think that it's all the same and tomorrow, I'm going to be waking up and going to school again. However, I'll probably realize and just stay home, but it still won't quite hit me yet. I doubt it ever will at this rate. I'll just find new people and become happy again. I guess it's apathy?"

Lazuli sighed and followed Cirrus's line of sight, turning towards the graduation ceremony. He had expected no less from a future psychologist, "I've already come to accept that I'm leaving. I'm a realist, so my mindset is like; It is what it is." Lazuli sometimes found it quite weird how easily he accepted things. "What college/university are you going to?" Lazuli was quite curious to see what she had to say. She was probably going to a good college or(probably) university. Anyone with her brains would be able to get into an excellent college.

"University of Mavia," Cirrus replied. "It's not very far from here. I wanted to stay around this region so I could visit my friends and family. I have a feeling that once I've come to terms with the change I'll need them." She laughed mirthlessly and looked at him with clear gray eyes. "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to The Kaviellian Academy of Fine Arts." Lazuli left out the part about his family living in the Center of Kaviel. Lazuli had moved to the border between Mavia and Kaviel to avoid all the family drama. It was too much for him. The ceremony had ended and everyone was leaving. "You live with your family, right?" Lazuli had no idea why he was asking that question, but was curious to see what other families were like.

"Well, not really. I don't have much family, I just live with a lot of people. The person who takes care of me is actually my friend. Do you know him? Jasper Sonoquie? He comes here every once and awhile, but he's already well into college, so not very often." Cirrus shrugged. "You're from the Imperium family, right? Yeah, I've heard a lot about your family. Now I'm curious. Why aren't you going into political science? I remember that you were really dedicated to 3D art and architecture. You were really good at it, too." Cirrus smiled.

Lazuli nods, "I see." Lazuli looked away when Cirrus mentioned his family, "Too much drama. I'm not a big fan of politics. It just doesn't sit well with me. Besides, I like drawing. I can't draw humans or animals though." Lazuli stops and points to the car they were next to, "This is your car, isn't it?" Lazuli remembered Cirrus driving this car the last time she had went to the supermarket. Lazuli was also there to refil his supplies of blueberries.

"Huh? Oh, yeah." She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear. "I don't drive very much. I like walking. Nature is incredibly beautiful and amazing in so many ways possible." She smiled. "Like, look at me. I'm mostly air. I have atoms that make up me, but they only have a tiny center, a dense nucleus, that is actually matter. And even so, look at what our bodies can do. We make thousands of cells every day, but every time they divide an immensely complex thing occurs. And our body does it mostly correct."

Lazuli frowned, not really understanding what she was saying, "Okay. I've got close to zero knowledge in the Biology Field, but I get your point." The way that Cirrus said it, did make it sound quite beautiful. Complex, yet beautiful, "Just like Architecture. It can be so simple, yet so complicated." Lazuli smiled while thinking about his favorite topic. Lazuli turned to Cirrus, "You've got a lot of potential, you know? You've got a way of making things that another person doesn't understand, interesting."

"Really? Thank you! That means a lot, coming from someone like you." Cirrus tilted her head to the side. "You're really nice. You're very much like me in terms of mindset, actually. It's rather interesting. Strange how we never got the chance to be friends during all of high school. I wonder why you have such a dark reputation if you're really this friendly, too."

Lazuli laughed, "A dark reputation, huh? I guess I just like causing trouble." Lazuli has miraculously never gotten himself suspended, there was this one time back in elementary school, but that was because this kid beat up Lazuli's younger cousin. "Also, I don't really like to socialize. Zero social skills."

"I heard that you set a trap which ended up hospitalizing a teacher, but I thought it was a silly rumor. I started to doubt it, but never really got the chance to ask you. That was going to be my whole 'friendship-opening' line, but it never really happened, I guess," Cirrus said, no particular emotion visible in her voice. She smiled, snapping her fingers. "Is that why you're leaving early? To avoid others? If we're going the same way, I can give you a ride."

Lazuli decided not to tell Cirrus what the trap had happened and the teacher was sent to the hospital. Lazuli had gotten out of it because he had removed the trap before the policemen had gotten here. The teacher wasn't injured too badly, so the policemen dropped the situation. "I'm not really interested in making friends, meaning it's not high on my priority list. I'm okay, I usually take the bus home. There's no need for you to take me." Lazuli smiled, "We still have a couple days of school left. And we also have the Senior Field Trip to Disneyland. See you then?"

"Sure! Sounds cool! Nice to finally meet you, Lazuli. Rather bad timing, though, to make an interesting friend at the end of the year." Cirrus tilted her head to the side, thinking. "Hey, we could write to each other, in college! Also, I'm just curious, but why did you get named after a stone? It's a pretty stone and all, but... "

Lazuli smiled amusedly, "Most of my family members were named after stones. My Dad, my uncle, me. Besides, most people aren't named after rocks, so I've got a unique name." Lazuli grinned and was about to say bye, but he remembered something. "Oh," Lazuli took out his phone and held it up for Cirrus, "Here's my phone number."

"Well, then again, I was named after a type of cloud, which is basically just water. Oh, yeah! Here." She tossed him her own phone after putting his number in. "So we can text each other before school starts." She smiled. "Okay, then. Goodbye, Lazuli. See you... tomorrow, the party is?"

"Yeah, I'll see ya there." Lazuli gave Cirrus's phone back to her and started walking towards his car, "See ya tomorrow night!"
