Trying to start-up a medieval fantasy orphanage dream on Furcadia, seeing if anyone here is interested. Key aspects include the setting, where magic should not be very common, and where technology is kept low. The orphanage is neither a utopia nor a hellhole. The older orphans have more responsibilities than the younger ones, and those who prove themselves to be mature are often enscripted to help take care of the other children. The orphans are educated while there, but much of their time is not spent idle -- after all, there are dozens of children, and the orphans may find themselves tasked with farming, cooking, chopping wood, fetching water, tending animals, and cleaning. So much cleaning.

Staff, of course, have to take care of and teach the orphans.

Hoping to strike a good balance here to avoid 'so perfect it's boring and my character has nothing to do or struggle against' and 'an abusive hellhole so terrible that most RP is about trying to escape the setting'.

No romance above kissing level for orphan characters, please... this isn't meant to be a romantic setting anyhow.

The dream is more or less complete. < < I'm sure I'll add on to it and do minor changes here and there, but it looks about right. More than serviceable for RP now. Anyone interested?

Abuse should come from other kids, anyway. I hear they'll grow new teeth.
