This weekend in the UK is a special celebration to mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II and I thought that deserved a post. Street parties and all sorts will be happening here and we also get monday and tuesday off!
Not sure what other commonwealth countries are doing to mark the occasion but I hope it's good things too.
Personally, I'll be going to a street party on my road this evening. At the last jubilee ten years ago, my cousin and I ended up lightsaber dueling with lots of kids because a Star Wars movie had just come out

I am having complete deja vu. Did we talk about this before, Darth!?
We're not having as big as a celebration in Canada, but we are certainly recognizing it. There have been tv shows and articles released on Queen Elizabeth II, especially over the last few months. Sadly, no days off for us!

That sounds so cool! I hope you have a totally awesome time this weekend, Darth! Enjoy your Queen's Jubilee!
I know what's going on at work... Lots of the little old British ladies are coming in telling me we don't have enough stuff about the Queen and aren't we useless... Some of them though, like to take me over to the books and tell me, "I remember when I saw this! Oh, I was *this old* when this happened!" I love that. We have so many pretty books in Coles right now, so many lovely photos of the Queen in many ages.

Thankyou! I really enjoyed it and in the traditional British way, it started raining about 10 minutes before the party but it was sheltered so that was good.

That is brilliant! All the old ladies here are like that too
I got into an argument concerning the monarchy yesterday, haha. I, for one, think that Britain is still suitable for being run by the Royal family and so, am very much enjoying the Jubilee celebration. No street parties near me that I am aware of however!
This sounds like a lot of fun! We don't have anything like this here. I remember awhile back my friend from new Zealand sending me a message on FB about Will and Kate's wedding. I was like "Who are Will and Kate?" She was shocked we didn't go all crazy for the Royal Wedding stuff over here
