I'm looking for people who have played the Monster Hunter game franchises. Nerd with me y'all.


What versions have you played?

What's your favorite Monster?

----I am still a sucker for Nargacuga but its getting harder to pick. So many are amazing.

What was your first Solo elder dragon kill?

I got introduced with Monster Hunter Frontier, but my first actual Monster Hunter game was 3 Ultimate. I have 4 Ultimate as well as Generations now.

As for favourite monster, I really like Barioth and Brachydios. I also have a soft spot for Kirin just because I like the legends of the actual Quilin. Recently, I've also become rather enamoured with Tamamitsune just because I find its design so very elegant and nice to look at. Reminds me of a Stargazer Lily flower almost.

I don't really remember my first solo elder dragon kill. It was probably Ceadeus in 3 Ultimate. Can't recall if there were any elder dragons before that fight, if I'm being completely honest. A lot of my gaming in Monster Hunter is typically with my fiancé, and we hunt together a lot.

There wasn't a question about armour or weapons, so I'll go ahead and say that I really love the Star Knight outfit in 4 Ultimate. Rodeo Master is a must have for an Insect Glaive user like myself. And it really went great with my Shagaru Magala Glaive. I also really like Plesioth Z armour because it makes trapping so much easier, and I like trapping just to end the hunt faster as well as get more mats anyways.

I started with Dual Blades when choosing weapons, but once the Insect Glaive came out and I started using it, I fell in LOVE with the style and how to use it. I'm still admittedly getting re-used to it in 4 Ultimate with the different styles they introduced, but so long as I'm utilising my Pheromone Shot and my bug from a distance before going in to land those heavier hits, I'm generally pretty good.

Awesome feedback. Can't believe I forgot to ask about weapons and armor.

Most of my gameplay is spent in Freedom Unite. So I wore mostly Nargacuga armor, and I started with sword and sheild but I adore long sword and bow now.

Bow is pretty alright. I tried it out for a while and like it -- perhaps more than Crossbow. I can't really do Long Sword or Greatsword due to the slow style of them. I'm more of a DPS, I gotta strike fast type. Which makes me really love Demon Mode Adept Style in Generations!

Hunting Horn is my only good 'slow' weapon. When I don't feel like wailing on monsters, I'm actually really happy with being the Hunting Horn support and taking my time with the Hammer-like hits.

I never really played with the hunting horn. The long sword is a good moderate speed. And the reach means I can hit most things before they can get close enough.

Long sword during group hunts normally gets me in trouble though lol. That reach occasionally knocks team mates over.

Yeah, that's another reason I had issues with the Long Sword -- my fiancé mained it when we first started out, and it was just... so hard to do anything close range since I preferred being Dual Blade, and pretty much right under the monster more times than not.

But ye... Hunting Horn I find good for me. Never really solo, though. I mean, if you're a decent or great Hammer user that can manage, then sure. But overall, I definitely use it to be more support with the varying songs on some of them. I use the Brachy Bell horn more times than not just for the strength up and healing. Sometimes the healing isn't much, but played as soon as a friendly is knocked down and is about to die, can be a real clutch lifesaver when you can't pull out that Life Powder in time. :p

Been so long since I didn't solo a hunt lol, not sure if I'd be able to anymore. Its so different from group hunting.

I got started with Monster Hunter ultimate 3 and have been playing Ultimate 4 and Generations for a while. I don't really have a favorite monster since they are all so annoying in their own special little ways, but I like the look of the Gore Magala.
And my favorite weapons are greatsword and switch axe.

Ahhh, I've played every game from Tri and up!

Favourite monsters are hard because there are so many that are great.
That said, it always will be Yian Kut-Ku. I am obsessed with them. I refuse to switch out my Kut-Kut in Riders because of my unwavering love.

First Solo was Jhen Mohran: I did online play by myself for a little bit before going back to main story.

Favourite armour is 100% the Golden Rathian's Gunner Armour!!! I absolutely love it, though I don't recall liking the design in 4U I think? I can't remember too well though.

My favourite weapon type is the Bow! Gimme that Stygian Bow and lemme shoot em in the face!
While Bow is my absolute main, I do specialise in Gunlance and Sword & Shield!

Long Sword is my bane as a Gunlance though.
