Sir Adelbard Laudessagne is a knight of Beauvralde and a very eligible bachelor. He has avoided it for as long as possible, but the time has finally come for him to be wed. His wealthy father, Lord Nolarth, has plans to host a number of noblewomen as potential wives. The situation is a little unusual, but Nolarth is a high-ranking lord, and needs to make as strategic a choice as possible. The prospective ladies arrive with members of their families and advisers, who will be conducting negotiations with Lord Nolarth. With all the powerful people gathered in one locale, political tensions are high, and perhaps someone nefarious might choose to make their move.

Who will be the lucky woman who claims Adelbard's hand ... and why does he seem entirely disinterested in the lot of them?

Hi, I'm trying to get active again and am looking for a "The Bachelor" type RP! I need people to roleplay the suitresses: unwed female noblewomen of marriageable age. I'm also open to the possibility of people playing other characters from these ladies' entourages: knights, guards, parents, siblings, etc. The RP will primarily focus around Adelbard and the prospective ladies, but winsome gentlemen in their entourages might catch his eye, whether his forbidden affections are returned or not.

Current character list:

• Adelbard (the bachelor)
• Adalind and Mellan (suitress and her brother)
• Adalia and Cecilio (suitress and her bodyguard)
• Blackarrow (guardswoman)

Some things of note ...

• This is a medieval European styled setting. It's based in the country of Beauvralde, which is an expy of France. Characters can hail from anywhere, including distant lands.
• Some magic is permitted, but should be subtle, as this is a lower fantasy setting. Those details can be discussed further!
• To keep things interesting, I would love some political intrigue. Maybe one of the noblewomen seeks more than Adelbard's hand, but also control over the entire province?
• I suggest playing highborn characters. This will be a court intrigue-inspired plot, and lowborn characters like servants and cooks wouldn't realistically have much say in those matters, and I want to be sure everyone is engaged.
• That being said, everyone is free to RP any NPCs you want.
• This is probably going to be a kind of long-term RP, but if you need to drop it, we can write your character out! Similarly, there's room for other characters to be added partway through.
• I'm flexible on the size of the group.

I'm a little confused as to where your character would fit in. Is she nobility, here as a suitress? Or is she just a bartender/warrior? If the latter, there might not be a whole lot for her to do in this RP.

Hmm, like I said, there wouldn't be much of a role for her in this RP if she's a bartender. The RP will mostly take place in a castle, which doesn't have a bar. So I think your options are as such:

• She could work in the kitchens, but because she's just a commoner, there won't be a whole lot for her to do.
  
• She could be hired as a royal guard. Again, without her being a highborn knight or something, just not a lot for her to do. In this setting, female warriors aren't common, but they're also accepted.

If you don't mind that she doesn't have a lot of interaction then I suppose that's ok. Just tell me which you would prefer.

Let's go with the hirred guard is that okay

Ok. Guards are expected to remain at their posts or patrols and report or confront suspicious behavior. They aren't treated badly, but they are expected to obey the nobility 100%, especially the Laudessagne family. They stay in a barracks near the armory and don't have their own bedrooms. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Yes, for sure! I like her a lot! As a quick note, this RP takes place in an undefined fantasy world. Real-world places can still exist, so her history is fine, I just figured I'd mention it. I'm leaving the geography a little ambiguous so that people can fit their characters in easily. I'll be including pertinent world info in my first post, whiiich I'll put up today

Also, will she be accompanied by any advisers or anything, outside of her bodyguard, or will she be conducting negotiations herself? That would be regarded as a little strange, but definitely still fits the setting!

... I just realized we have Adelbard, Adalind, and Adalia. That is hilarious.

I could have her adoptive brother come with her as an adviser, her father would be too busy managing the ship considering her bodyguard is coming with her.

Sure thing! Her upbringing would be considered a little scandalous as well, but that's only going to make things more interesting!

... oooops, my bad! If she was publicly raised by Francis and Cecilia as their daughter, it would be fine! It's only scandalous if the true parentage comes to light.

Still looking for another suitress? All of my characters are hardcore fantasy so I doubt any of them would fit 100% But I would not mind making another character. Or maybe you would fancy one of my characters and we can alter the character a bit to fit into the roleplay?
