It was a large manor situated all the way down a long and well-lit street, lined up with houses of similar build and structure. Three stone towers were built into the sides and the back of the main homestead, with softly etched panes that carried window boxes of fresh herbs lined against the paneling. Glimpses of a patio garden could be seen from the side of the large home. Unlike the other Victorian style homes, this one felt more Tudor era with the towers giving a splash of Medieval times. The lights were on, so it was clear someone was in...
Yet unlike all the other houses that were decked in festive and terrifying decor and scenery, the charming brick mansion was the same as it always looked during the rest of the seasons. No Halloween lights on its iron-wrought gates, no Jack-o'-lanterns placed near the ornate and stained glass double doors that led inside, no scarecrows, skeletons, or other like creatures picketed across the well-kept lawn lined with trees and shrubbery and other kinds of flora. Nothing that celebrated the season really stood out from the brick walls and modernish paneling. But it did give off a homey, welcoming feel to all the trick-or-treaters that passed by its open gateway... Aside from a highly decorated sign that was made to be obvious to passers-by. It hung from one of the gate posts, and read simply: "Welcome, trick-or-treaters!"
Inside the gated estate, slow and soothing violin music was playing at a low volume from a rather expensive stereo system encased in a wooden cabinet with glass doors. It was accompanied by a quiet, tender humming from a vocal source near the overstuffed black sectional sofas, complete with an ottoman. An antique clock ticked away, the tiny pendulum swaying back and forth to the timing of the music. The warm, spicy, and delicate scent of herbal tea from a fine piece of china drifted about the area from its spot on the oval coffee table. It seemed like a peaceful night indoors for whomever stayed there. However...
"Meliere, where'd ya hide all th' candy this year?!" A masculine voice shouted from the far off kitchen. It seemed irate, if not a little impatient.
The humming stopped. The woman in question turned her blue eyes away from her book while lounging on one of the ebony seats. She was a rather portly sort that seemed very comfortable lazing about in her beige off-shoulder sweater, black slacks, and bare feet. Or at least, she was. Rising up to prop her plush body over the couch to get a better look into the dining room (and hopefully the kitchen), she called back with a fierce tenor.
"Where you can't find it until it's time! We need to give the trick-or-treaters something this year, Alexander!" A short huff was given as she flopped back down against the cushions, black hair fanning out over the armrest as she sought to continue reading her book. By her sanity, this Halloween will be a normal one this year. Or at least, as normal as she can muster with her male half on the loose.
In the meanwhile, a short and angry male continued tossing utensils, pans and other things about in the kitchen as Meliere settled down with her book yet again. "I jus' want sum dang candy, is that too much t' ask?!" He snapped as he reached up with his scrawny arms to open a cabinet, grunting when he was greeted with nothing that even looked like sweets. Slamming the doors shut with a fuming face, he straightened out his hoodie and scratched at his own tied back hair. "Now if I was a stuffy female, where would I hide t' good stuff?" He mused as he leaned against a kitchen counter, his brown eyes scanning the area carefully for the next spot to plunder. He will have something sweet by the end of this night... Even if he had to ambush the trick or treaters for some goodies.
Care to talk with one half of a Dual God trying to be human this Halloween? Or is sweets the only reason you're here? All you have to do is roll a d6 and say hi to whoever answers the door!
•2 and 4 will have Meliere answer the door with chocolates, caramel goodies, and a cheery smile.
•3 and 5 has Alexander finding Meliere's hidden stash just in time to answer the door with suckers and other hard candies, accompanied with a foul mood.
•1 and 6 will have both of them answer the door with all of the above and some finer gourmet cookies tossed in the mix!

A young boy walked up the drive to the mansion, anxiously looking left and right as if expecting some monster to jump out at him. Halloween had always been his least favorite holiday, with the veil between this world and the other being so thin. Every year on halloween some monster managed to slip through and harass people until they were inevitably pushed back into their own world. It also didn't help that it was dark and everyone was dressed in scary outfits.
The boy himself wasn't wearing a particularly scary outfit, on the contrary. His sister had forced him into a pair of purple shorts that were ripped at the bottom and a weird shirt that gave him fake muscles. At least the shirt thing was green, his favorite color. What he didn't enjoy about the outfit though, was the fact that his sister also painted his face green.
Sighing, the boy finally got to the front door. There weren't any other kids there at the moment, which gave him the satisfaction of ringing the doorbell himself. Clutching his orange pumpkin bucket, the boy poked the doorbell with left index finger.

Hearing the doorbell ring, Meliere sat up just in time to spot her counterpart sneaking away with one of the hidden jars of candy, the handle of a lollipop held between his teeth. "Where do you think you're going? We have a guest!" She snapped before hopping to her feet carelessly and gripping the male by the shoulder firmly. Turning him around, she lead him forcefully toward the door. "And we're going to greet them together!"
"But 'eli, I dun wanna greeth guestshth!" He complained over his unearned prize, wriggling to get away with the rest of the sweets. The large woman stopped next to a small round ottoman while holding Alexander still with one hand, flipped up the top, and pulled out a large bowl of chocolates and other goodies with the other. A soft smile was given before continuing to shove the unhappy male to the doorway.
"Too bad. Think of it as punishment for trying to make off with sweets that aren't yours." With that, she opened the door and greeted the young trick-or-treater with a smile, nudging her male half to do the same. He could only comply half-heartedly with a toothy grin, the remnants of the sucker glued to his teeth.
"Why hello there, little one!" Meliere cooed in delight, "What an adorable costume you have!" Alexander kept silent until another nudge was given.
"Yeah, very... Green," he quipped, "So, ya ready for the candy or what?"

When the door opened, the boy smiled and nodded at the couple. It wasn't that he couldn't talk, he just wasn't too comfortable around strangers. Why did she make me do this..... He asked himself silently, referring to when his sister shoved him out the door and told him not to come back without a bucket of candy.
The boy held out the bright orange bucket for the candy. "Trick or Treat." He managed to force the words out of his unwilling mouth, the words shaky and nervous.

With a bit of reluctance, Alexander grabbed a fistful of the hard candies and dropped them into the boy's bucket. "There, now I'mma just-" Before he could sneak away, Meliere's arm hooked around his and kept him there for the while.
"Now, now Alex. We're not done yet!" She sweetly reminded him before having the hand that was currently wrapped around her counter's arm hold the bowl of treats. Even more of a reason to keep him still. She gave a generous amount of chocolates and caramels to the young one. "And as a special treat..." She slid her hand underneath her hair and pulled out a cutely wrapped bag of homemade cookies, an impromptu move played off as a mere magic trick.
"Ta-da!" She dropped the bag of cookies into the bucket, hoping her little bit didn't seem that scary. Her partner huffed; he really wanted free so he could binge on the Halloween candy.

Getting over his shyness a bit with the receiving of candy, David's mouth dropped open when he got a bunch of candy. "Wow, thank you!" He smiled brightly, watching her magic trick. He was impressed, and he showed it by letting his mouth drop open a bit more. By now his orange bucket was already half-way full, and he was glad that his sister made him go trick-or-treating.
Having separated herself from the others for a short time, Viola was intent on doing some stuff with her boyfriend, though it seemed that he was wanting to retire for the evening due to personal exhaustion from being around so many people. Viola understood this, though still wanted to hang around and have fun.
With a smooch to her boyfriend and a promise that she would be back later that evening, Viola saw off the other blond individual before turning into a cul de sac. A lot of the houses were indeed dressed up for Halloween, and because it was something that looped around, the blonde started at one end and slowly made her way toward the centre.
The house at the end of the cul de sac was... well, bland was not really a right way to put it. It certainly was not decorated, there was no question there. But... there was someone there that was trick-or-treating... so Viola kind of shrugged her shoulders and made her way over.
Straightening out her uniform, Viola presented herself at the door. She wore a modest nurse's uniform that was pink in colour. There were only some rips here and there, and it seemed that there was some careful colouring and dressing of the bandages around her legs and arms. it certainly drew out the paled, 'bruised and bloodied' look of her 'zombie nurse' costume.
Her blonde hair was dishevelled and the nurse's cap sat on her head at an angle, fake blood and dirt added to it for that continued effect. Heck, Viola had even gone a little further and used white-out contacts to make her eyes appear milky and lifeless.
Approaching the door, the blonde knocked.

Meliere was delighted with the boy's reaction, and gave a short bow. "Please do come back next Halloween!" she spoke.
Alexander could only roll his eyes at his more feminine counterpart's cute act. "Yeah, uh... What she said." He wasn't that good with kids, especially when he was denied what he wanted beforehand.
If the boy was ready to leave, Meliere would discreetly shove Alexander back into the house before giving a kindly wave to him while he left and closing the door quietly. "Such a shy one. But that's what I love about Hallow's Eve: you get all kinds."
"Yeah, good for you," Alex grunted while opening another piece of candy. As he popped the morsel into his mouth, there was another knock at the door. "FFFFF-"
Meliere dropped one hand to her hip and pointed to him with the other hand holding the candy bowl. "Just for that snippy response, AND for eating another piece of Halloween candy, you get to answer the door!" She ordered before passing by him to hide the bowl away from his eyes... Again.
"Aw, c'mon!!" He waited for a response other than the kitchen door slamming nearby. When nothing else came, he groaned; looks like she's not playing his game today. Relenting to her wish with a muted grumble, he opened the door in an unceremonious manner. "May I help you?" He snipped with a bit of attitude while chewing on the candy. If not for the bowl of treats in one hand, it could easily be assumed he was greeting an unwanted guest. Of course, anyone standing in the way of what he wanted was an unwanted guest.

As soon as the door opened, Viola looked to the man that seemed to be idly munching on the candies that were in his grasp. She did note that even though the house was not dressed, nor was the porch light on, she glanced back to the individual that had just been at the house.
They must have been turned away.
"Oh, I suppose you're not giving out candy this year! I'm sorry to disturb you!" Viola replied, turning her attention back to the man. Despite the grossly zombified look of her costume that she spent the beginning of the month on, she smiled rather graciously.
"I'll just be on my way, then!" Viola went on to say, turning from the door.

Wait, she thought he wasn't giving out sweets? This could be Alexander's chance! "'Kay then, I'll just-" A pillow was soon tossed, smacking him against the back of the head lightly. He knew who threw that. He shot a glare to Meliere, who gave a stern frown from the couch in return. Sighing while scratching under his ponytail, he caved in... For the moment. "Ugh, fine..." He waved off her unamused expression before swiveling toward the open door.
He called to the costumed girl about to make her leave, "Yo! Hol' up a sec." If the girl heard him and turned around, he'd hold up the bowl of candy and speak again. "Yeah, we be givin' the stuff away..." He hated sharing. But the costume she was wearing did satisfy his eye for the more grotesque of costumes. In terms of dress, she did put some effort into it... Why not give her a reward?
Reaching into the bowl, he held up a good bit of candy to put into her bag. "...Nice costume. Zombie nurse, right?"

At the sound of the man's words, Viola paused in her step and looked back to him. She seemed taken aback some, though was happy enough to revert her attention. She held out her bag and actually beamed with glee.
"Thank you! And yes! I wanted to practise my costume skills with this one for the more macabre for future events! I'm glad people seem to like it!" Viola replied, humbled by the attention her craftsmanship received over the course of the evening.

"Sounds like a plan! Ya sure had me spook'd, let me tell ya," he smirked while dropping the treats into her bag before leaning against the door frame. "But uh, ya'll come back whene'er ya feel like it, 'kay?" A sly wink was given before making a quick flourish towards the inside of the house, "Meli'd love th' new faces 'round this joint." Just don't come when I'm eating the candy, He mused as an aside.
Viola's expression brightened at the compliment she received. She really was pleased with the costume and how it turned out when she showed her friends a couple days before their own Halloween party. To hear praise and compliments from strangers helped give her motivation for future costume projects and commissions.
"Ahh! Merci, merci beaucoup!" Viola said, her French coming out with her excitement as she thanked the man. She looked down to her bag of goodies, and was happy with what she had been getting with this cul de sac.
"I'm probably heading in after this street, but thank you again!" Viola replied after a moment. "Anyway, au revoir! Have a good rest of the evening!"
From there, Viola waved her pleasant goodbyes and went to completing the rest of the cul de sac rounds. When that was done, she started on the way to hers and her boyfriend's apartment as she said she would before the night was up.

Hmm, French. Not bad. His grin only widened as he bid his own adieus to the zombified woman and made his way inside, ready to chow down on his prize... Only for the bowl of hard sweets to end up in his counter's hands upon closing the door. "Hey!"
"Not bad," Meliere commented about Alexander's behaviour at the door, holding the bowl close to her, "But you still can't have any candy until all of them get their treats. You'll just have to wait~!" Turning on her heel, she went upstairs to seek out another hiding spot. Did she hide the sweet treats all over the house?
Alexander yelled back, "I don' wanna wait, danggit! I will have all th' candy, Meliere!! Jus' you wait!" Storming off towards another room downstairs, he resumed his search for any hidden treats until the doorbell rang again or a knock caught the split duo's attention.

As Pumpkin hopped toward the door, the orange fruit took a good look at its surroundings. Enjoying the atmosphere, Pumpkin arrived at the door with an extra kick in its hop. With a cheerful call of 'Trick-or-Treat!', the sentient pumpkin waited, a happy smile carved onto its perfectly pumpkin-y face.
And it also seems Pumpkin forgot how to roll a dice! Oh no! Silly Pumpkin!

"Aha!" Alexander grinned with delight as he pulled another bowl of candy from underneath the bed in a guest bedroom. Looks like he found another one of Meliere's candy stashes. Seriously, how many did she hide this year?! Wrapping the treats nimbly and stuffing them into his mouth with loud crunches, he barely realized that Meliere was right behind him tapping her foot calmly; she had also found what she was looking for: him.
"You really don't know when to listen, do you?" Her words caused the short male to give a slight jump in his seated position and turn to the source, giving a toothy grin laced with colored sugar... Just in time for another person to knock on the door. "Hey hey! Another guest!" He said weakly in a failed attempt to change the subject.
The female's eyes narrowed into small sapphire slivers before pointing out of the bedroom. "Go greet them then," she told him in a cold manner that sent a shiver down his spine... but he stood --well, sat-- tall for a minute; it was his candy too, and he deserved a bit of it, right? Another silent moment saw him groaning in defeat under her icy gaze and shuffling up with the candy bowl. "Fine! Can never win with yer cranky ol' butt 'round 'ere!" He griped as his steps thudded out of the room and across the carpet toward the front door.
Opening it with a swift motion, he poked his head out with the candy bowl curled close to his body. He was soon faced with... A pumpkin. No one else stood there. Was this a Halloween prank? Just his luck after being silently prodded at to give his sought out treats to others. Then again, something didn't seem right about this... So he spoke up.
"Yo! Anyone out 'ere?!" He gave it a minute to see if someone would leap into his eyesight in an attempt to scare the life out of him.

"Why yes, good sir, did you perhaps not see me? Forgive me, I have yet to have my growth spurt." Pumpkin apologised, possibly unaware that the possibility of a sentient pumpkin was slim. Because honestly, who really believes that?
Looking down back to the now talking pumpkin, Alexander was very much unphased by this. I've seen weirder things in my life, he noted to himself as he decided to play along with the sentinent fruit... Vegetable?
"Naw, no biggie, lil' man!" Did it have a gender? Whatever. "So what's up? ...'ere for the candy?" He held up the bowl of treats for emphasis. He was praying it said no. However, at this rate the thing was cute enough to cheer up Alex... If only by a little bit.

"I am here for many things, but yes, that is one of the things." Pumpkin replied, ever-so cheerful. It hopped and the top of its head popped off, as if the fruit wished for him to place the sugary treats within Pumpkin itself.
