Meet up would be amazing!! I think a future d*con or texas ren faire would be the best. Especially for people like Celestina whose parents might be more accepting if it was a public place. I go to texas ren faire in november every year and I do plan to attend a future d*con
Oh, I had completely forgotten about the Ren Fest!!
DragonCon would likely be out for me. School starts right away in September, and I'm hoping to be going back next year.
Dude, I'd be so down for this. I love meeting net friends. I live East Coast USA, so... I'm a little leery about driving out to Texas. Dragon*Con is an option, though. If not this year (last semester of uni, woo!) then next! Ohio would be good too, but that's just me talking. It's closer to me and I seem to meet a LOT of RPers from there.
I love the idea of having it be at a con/renfest of some kind. (I think a con would be better, for the overnight aspect.) Getting a booth would be EVEN SWEETER.
I'm in the Washington DC area and am totally open to the notion of carpools and whatnot, if you can deal with my music.

It looks like pretty well everyone is down for DragonCon next year.
If y'all going to do DragonCon - who lives in that area/has gone before? I'll need your help to plan this out, since I've never been.

A little late to. The races here but if.I could financeally do this I would be so in. For me it will all have to depend on that. But it sounds like such a fun idea
The renfair would be beyond worth traveling for! Specially as I'm not that far from it anymore. Hahah
Well, for those of you interested in Dragon*Con, I've been looking at numbers and things and stuff and junk.
http://dragonconforums.org/index.php?topic=69.0 this little guide here - it gives you an idea of what you might be spending. I don't know where people are coming from, or what they'd buy, so I don't want to just give a general ball park, but it's not cheap.

This sounds like an awesome idea! I have no idea where my life will be in a year though (A lot is changing for me right now @.@ yay this.."growing up" thing mwahahahaha.) At the same time no way I'd be able to do a meet up any sooner than at least a year away. A dragon*Con sounds like a cool idea.

I'm in the UK, so, alas.
We should have an RPR Meet in the UK for European members

Most of that is correct, although I will say that the hotels don't sell out that quickly, it just looks like they do. What happens is they make a bunch of rooms available for the next year as the current D*C is going on. A month or so later, they make a few more available. Both are at convention rates (cheaper) but sell out almost instantly. Then you have to wait until June/july for more rooms to become available but those are at the normal hotel rates.
The Marriott and Hilton are the two best hotels to stay at for one simple reason: they have more than two lifts. Even in those hotels, you sometimes have a bit of a wait before you can get up to your room.
Buying your weekend membership pass early has the advantage of being cheaper but the disadvantage of you having to pick it up when you arrive. The queues for that is usually several hours but if you buy them on arrival, it's a much shorter wait.
Thursday is the better day to arrive, it's quieter but you still have the convention atmosphere, people get in costume early and such. Sunday is the best day to leave, not much happens on monday and everyone is trying to leave then.
If it comes down to being able to leave late on Saturday ngiht, I might be able to come for Thursday/Friday, but since I don't know when my classes are going to be, I won't be able to commit, plus I don't know what kind of money I'll be able to save while unemployed.
I'm thinking I might do Texas anyhow - it'll be more cost/time effective for me, sicne I do have to keep in mind with school.
Well, whatever we end up doing or not doing... if you still go to Texas, make sure to let me know!!!
