Kuro was again on the run from yet another one of those stupid failed experiments her master sent. She was coming close to changing into her animal state but she was trying to not. She hid behind a tree to regain her breath and to calm her nerves. The creature soon found her and broke the tree in half almost cutting her head off. "Shit." She pulled out her dagger as fast as she could to kill the creature. She lost control over her animal genes and fell to her knees clutching her stomach as if someone had shot her. Soon she grew a tail, along with sharp teeth and claws to follow. Both her eyes turned to a blood red colors as she looked at the creature and stood. The creature charged at her which she jumped up in the air avioding the attack and drilling the creatures head into the ground. She grabbed the dagger and slit the things throat wide open.
Alec was running through the streets beside the small forest on the outskirts of the town, Kay by her side, when sounds from within the trees caught her attention. It sounded like someone was trying to tear the forest down. She hesitated for a second, then she abruptly changed her direction, heading into the shadows of the trees. When she was out of sight from the street she let her ears appear to easier follow the sounds. She had only been running for a short time when Kay alerted her to the smell of blood. Alec picked up her pace, causing her to run straight onto a scene that she had not expected. In front of her was a girl, with a bleeding figure at her feet. But that wasn't what made the biggest impact. This girl... She had a tail! That was what she noticed in that moment she laid her eyes on her, and a startled sound left her mouth.
Kuro heard the noise the other girl made and stood up. She jumped off the creatures head, then kicked it to the side away from her. "Fihty creature." She mumbled under her breath, annoied that it caused some attetion from knocking a tree down along a claw mark on her back that she didn't notice. She was bleeding but for some reason it had little effect on her. She looked back at the girl, noticing the cat ears on her head. She didn't think there would be anyone else that was half or at least part animal.
Alec kept staring at the girl in front of her with wide eyes. She had never met another person with animal traits, and curiosity mingled with the shock in her mind. It was a soft voice by her feet that broke her back to her senses.
"Alec, this girl... She smells funny..."
Alec looked down at the gray cat in confusion.
"What do you mean, 'smell funny'?"
She knew that she most likely looked like she was talking to herself, but the question had escaped before she could stop herself. She didn't receive an answer however, and soon shrugged it off. Instead she turned to the girl again. She tilted her head to the side as she took in the red eyes and the claws, before she smiled cautiously.
"Who are you? I'm sure I've never seen you around here before..."

"Kuro Sakuranbo." Kuro shifted out of her animal state into her usual human state. One red eye, one blue, black hair with four red streaks, no tail, no claws, no sharp teeth. She removed her dagger from the creatures neck and pulled a rag out of her bag that she left on the ground near the tree. She wiped off the curved blade of the dagger, her back towards the girl showing she had been clawed in the back.
Alec watched in fascination as the appearance of the girl calling herself Kuro changed drastically. It took a heartbeat before something clicked in her mind.
"Kuro? Are you Japanese?" she asked in a musing tone. She thought briefly that the name suited the girl quite well.
When Kuro turned around however, all other thoughts were driven from her mind and she started moving instinctively towards her, reaching out a hand.
"Hey, you're hurt!"

Kuro looked up at the girl, a little confused. "Huh?" Then she felt the pain in her back winced. "Damn it, I should've known that thing wouldn't die without having me bleed." She searched through her bag for her medical supplies and handed them to the girl since she couldn't reach her back. "Here." She pulled her shirt up to where the wound could be treated and nothing was showing. "Also, yes I am Japanese."
Alec accepted the medical supplies without hesitation and set about treating the slashes. She worked in silence for a moment before she remembered that she had forgotten to introduce herself.
"I'm Alec Burrows by the way."
She looked down at the creature lying dead on the ground and shuddered.
"What was that thing anyway?"
She really didn't understand what it was that she was seeing. It looked like it was part human and part animal, just like herself and Kuro, but something was fundamentally different. Then again, she had the distinct feeling that there was big differences between herself and Kuro as well, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what.

When Alec finished treating Kuro's wounds, she pulled her shirt down. "One of my masters failed experiments. The things more animal than human and has no sanity." That was all true and if she didn't run from her master when she did, she would be like that creature. Mindless, bloodthristy, hated. She shook off that though and put her medical supplies back in her bag. "I swear he's gonna end up killing all of his experiments if he keeps sending them after me." That was the fourth one this month she had faced and she was not looking forward to others coming after her.
Kuro's words made Alec shudder slightly again.
"People actually do experiments like that?" she asked, disgusted.
Then a thought struck her. What about Kuro? Was she an experiment as well then? She was hesitant to ask though, so she opted not to. Instead she smirked slightly and withdrew her ears, which she had forgotten up until now.
"But that is the Japanese for you, they come up with some really strange ideas, no offense."
With a shrug she sat down on the ground and scratched Kay behind his ears.
"So, you're saying that more are coming? That could get troublesome..."

Kuro nodded. "Most likely, yes, but it's been four years so he should be running out of them. He must be trying to weaken me so that the last one could sucessfully come and get me." She sighed at her master's ignorance. He had sent hundreds after her over the years and yet one has gotten her. "Anyways they are only after me, once I am out of this town you have no worries of seeing these things again." Her voice was calm and unfearful as always.
Alec's head shot up at those words. She was going to leave?
"Couldn't you stay for a while? Me and my friends could help you keep these things at bay..." she trailed off. She knew that her friends in the White Crows wouldn't hesitate to help out, but she was much less certain that Kuro would accept help. She decided to take a slightly different approach.
"It's the first time I've ever met someone else who is part animal. It would be nice to have someone other than Kay to talk to about it."

"I don;t believe we have the same animal genes. I was a test subject so the animal genes in me were infused. I was made with some in me but not all." She rubbed the back of her neck, not use to even being around someone else with animal genes that didn't hate her and were inhuman like. "I can understand it gets lonely being the one of the only few people that is part animal but I wouldn't think it wise for me to stay here. It is easier for those creatures to come after me if my scent is stronger in one place."
Alec considered this. So she had been right in her suspicions.
"I see... I was born with mine. I sprouted ears before I could walk." She wasn't sure why she was telling her this, but the words flowed out of her. "It was tough before I learned to control it. I still wonder how that tramp thought it was a good idea to have a child with a shapeshifter."
She fell silent again, then she laughed a little embarrassed.
"Sorry, I don't know why I'm telling you this. But I still think that we could help you. It can't be any fun always being on your own?"

Kuro shook her head. "No, it isn't but it is better than risking others lives. Those things are almost as strong as I am and I can kill a man twice my size. It's been proven." She shrudered at the memory of her fight in Russia stired but she soon shook it off. "I believe it is best for you to forget about meeting me, nothing good comes of it." She did not like casting off people for the reason she though she was bad luck but she kept reminding herself that this was the best thing for others.
Alec looked up at Kuro with a slight pout. Then she stood and fixed the girl with a serious look.
"Well, I can't force you to stay here. But..." She hesitated, but kept talking after a second. "...but I don't want to forget meeting you. It's a relief to know that, even though the circumstances are different, there are others that are somewhat similar to me out there."
She took a deep breath before she continued, saying the things that she felt was the most important.
"And if you are in the area again, or you get rid of all these creatures... would you come visit me? I would love to meet you again sometime."
Alec knew that it was an irrational request, they had just met after all, but she couldn't help herself. She truly wanted to meet this girl again if she could, wanted to talk to her more.

Kuro sighed, knowing most likely she wouldn't be coming back to this area. "If I stay for a few days, you have to promise not to tell anyone of what you just saw and heard. It can get me killed or worse, alright?" She was drop dead serious about keeping her secter and if it got out that she was here then this city would be tear to sherds until she was found or the city was all knocked to the ground and everyone was dead.
There was no mistaking the seriousness in Kuro's eyes, but Alec didn't hesitate.
"I promise! Not a word will pass my lips."
She was delighted that Kuro would stay, even if it was only for a few days. Then she remembered that there was one more individual there with them.
"That goes for you too Kay," she said sternly to the cat.
"Don't be ridiculous Alec, the only one I would be able to tell is you, right?"
"Oh, right."
Feeling a little stupid, Alec turned back to Kuro with a smile.
"You have our word."

"You have our word."
Kuro nodded, trusting Alec's word. "Good, I can't have my location given away. Which mean it would be best not to do research on my master experiments, which includes myself. The simplest of things can set Wang in motion." Wang was Kuro's master, Wang Sakuranbo to be exact. She never called him Mr. Sakuranbo since that was a sign of respect and he did not deserve anything like that from her. Kuro was unfazed by Alec talking to her cat, Kay, since it would happen to Kuro when she made a friendship with an animal but she left the only pet she had back with her master.
Alec acknowledged Kuro's words with a nod, then she sat down on the ground again. There was something tickling her curiosity.
"May I ask, what kind of animal are you infused with? You don't have to answer, I'm just curious," she quickly added. She had also noticed that Kuro didn't even raise an eyebrow when she was speaking to Kay, although she knew that she seemed a bit crazy and talking to herself when she did that. Maybe Kuro could talk to some animals too. She could feel the excitement build up within her. She finally had, however temporary, someone who could relate, and whom she could relate to. The feeling was almost euphoric.
