A year ago today, it happened, society collapsed just as the many legions of doomsday preppers and conspiracy theorists had hoped. Humanity's fall belonged to a merciless race of monsters that seemingly appeared from thin air. It took mere weeks for the worlds population to be reduced from billions to... maybe a couple millions, it was hard to tell since communication between the surviving humans was near impossible. Until recently the creatures had been completely diurnal, though lately from her safe place, June had seen the creatures beginning to come out at night in small numbers, making scavenging more dangerous.
The girl sat alone in her fortress of a penthouse apartment, all but one window obscured by aluminum shutters she'd pilfered from various storefronts and modified to fit the sills. As usual she was eating from a can of vegetables, and staring at a radio, hooked up to a gas generator, nearly drifting off to sleep until she heard something she hadn't heard before, a crackle from the radio. The girl sat straight up and stared as dead air returned. No sooner than she started to relax it happened again, it almost sounded like there was a voice amongst the bad broadcasting. She reached out to the radio with a shaky hand and picked up the microphone, holding it up, she took a deep breath and spoke a hopeful word, "Hello...?".

Do the monsters need to be villains? Or can some be neutral?
Heya there! It would be awesome if I could join in this RP, and if you couldn't tell, this would be the character I would use. The idea is interesting, and you seem to have you basics in order, so I would love to participate! Would this be DM or Forum RP?
I'ed like to join this RP using Matvei, this kind of RP suits him very well.
