He would panic, call for help, and stay with the woman to make sure nothing else happens to her. He would also probably cover her up with a coat or blazer he was wearing. Due to his lack of medical knowledge, he wouldn't really be able to do anything else.

What would your character do if they woke up in an abandoned building with no memory of how they got there?

Suspect the worse, get into medical examination and explain what happend to people she trust.

Living with a limp is far preferably to dying on the table.

I'll say losing the sense of sight. I know that being blind makes life so much harder, but to not hear one's beloved, to not feel her touch, smell her perfume or taste her kisses... those are greater sacrifices to be sure.
