Elder seemed breifly dazed for a moment. ''Can I call you Silver?''
Sterling paused, his mouth slightly ajar as he contemplated the various terms he could use to express his answer.
"My name is Sterling, dammit. Sterling. If I wanted to be called Silver, I'd've been named Silver." He took a deep breath, released it, and then calmed down. "Only two people call me Silver. My parents, who are dead, and my opponents, who are also dead." That being said, he'd been known to respond to Silver. Even if he did hate it.

''Sterling Silver?'' Elder asked, still dazed. The tranq still holding him tight.
Sterling's eye twitched at the addition of 'Silver'. "What do you want, Hybrid Elder?"
''Silver.'' He said, then fell down. Giggling insanely. ''Silver.'' He said. NOW THIS was a reaction to the tranq, one could tell.
Sterling twitched and grimaced. His grip on the sword hilt tightened and he spun to grab a dagger and fling it at Hybrid. It struck the ground just inches from Hybrid's tail, quivering. He had missed on purpose.
"It's Sterling." He stalked back into the altar.
"It's Sterling." He stalked back into the altar.
Elder detected the toss as an attack, and picked it up. He flung it back forcefully, then watched to see what it hit. ''Sterling?''
There was a yelp as the dagger struck the ground entirely too close to Sterling's foot to be called comfortable. And then Sterling was pocketing the dagger once more, and glaring back at Hybrid.
"That's my name, don't wear it out." He adjusted his poor, scarred and maimed trench coat and then settled down.

''We should head to the vault, remember?'' He replied, standing up shakily. His only blade left intact was his tail blade and horns. The rest were chipped and missing.
Sterling raised an eyebrow. "You want to come along in that condition? We're probably going up against several master vampires and a mutant gerbil."
''Hey, you saw what occurs if one tries to attack me. I lose control and go berzerk until you jab me in the side with a tranq or knock me out.'' Elder scoffed, waving a hand mockingly. ''I still have my tail blade. What could go wrong?''
Sterling hesitated then looked back in the direction of Darkness. "You think Dark would want to come?" He really, really couldn't believe he was doing this. Really. Taking two demons with him to slay more demons. How could this not end badly?
''Well, Dark would take forever to get back if he died...'' Elder grumped, tail flicking. ''I thought you were scared of him?''
Sterling snorted and bit back a 'better him than us' comment. "Well, we could use his help in any case. And I'm not afraid of anything; I just have a healthy respect for claws, and blades, and fangs and anything that can render holes in fabric, skin, and solid bone."
Darkness snuck up behind Sterling, then rested his clawed paws onto his shoulders carefully...
''GRRRAARRRRRRF!''
''GRRRAARRRRRRF!''
It was hard enough to sneak up on him; the banter between Sterling and Hybrid had probably helped mask the half-demon's previous noise. But unfortunately Sterling still reacted as he'd been trained since practically birth.
He spun and dug the sword deep into whatever was attacking him. He didn't realize it was Darkness until after he was sliding his sword free of the corpse... He also made no sound during the whole thing; his eyes were wide, and his arms trembled slightly.
"Wh-what the hell?!"

Darkness staggers back, faltering badly. ''Not...Again....'' He choked, looking a Sterling before he fell to his knees. ''Again?....Are you...Kidding me?!'' He hissed, blood starting to dribble down his maw.
Elder stared in complete horror, frozen in place.

Sterling lowered his sword and then wiped the blade clean. "You should know better than to sneak up on a Hunter!" He said hotly back. "Especially one that's surrounded by two demons. But for what it's worth, I'm sorry." He made a face and turned to see Elder's expression.
"Just don't sneak up on me, that's all I ask. And you won't be kudegra'd."

Elder started to speak, but stammered, then turned pale and fainted.
Darkness collapsed onto the ground once, dead. His grisly remain slowly were dragged into the altar by an unseen force.

Sterling sighed. At this rate it would take him forever to get to the Vault. But if the demons kept insisting on surprising him, that was what they would get.
"I'm gonna head out now," he said to the dead and unconscious demons. "So, uh, follow if--when--you want." He left a giant arrow pointing in the direction he was going--carved of course by his sword--and then grabbing his pack, headed out.
