The fox catches the hilt in it's mouth, then slides it back into a holder. ''The other hunters sent me out here to get rid of you!''
"What other-" he cut himself off and reached for the nonexistent pendant at his neck. "No! I'm not a threat to them. Why would they kill me?" He winced as his leg throbbed and he staggered to his feet.
"For that matter, why would they send you, a fox, after me?"
"For that matter, why would they send you, a fox, after me?"
''I'm a strong hunter!'' As they charged at Sterling, then bit his injured leg with a snarl.
Sterling yelled in pain and then grabbed the fox by his scruff. "Get off me!" He pulled the fox free but didn't release his grip, at the same time he grabbed for the fox's falchion--disarming the fox--and then flipping the blade so it pointed at the fox's face.
"I should kill you now. Give me a reason why I shouldn't."
"I should kill you now. Give me a reason why I shouldn't."
Mor yelped, then growled. ''I have holy water?''
"I can take that off your corpse." Sterling said. "And I'm sure your pelt would make a nice jacket." He shook the fox rather forcefully before stilling for a moment. "Besides that, if you kill me now, there'll be a serious problem at hand. Darkness, there," he turned to show the fox where Darkness was, "is turning at the blood red moon tonight. We might need help preventing him from rampaging through town. Got that?"
Mor hissed. ''And why should I be scared of a hunter who lost his pendant?'' As it snirked, and Sterling could see it had his pendant hidden in it's mouth.
"I didn't lose it." He dropped the falchion and prised the fox's jaws apart to grab the pendant. "It was taken from me."
He finally extracted the pendant and glared at the fox. "Thanks for returning it." He ran a finger over the stake-crucifix. It felt like it always had, minus fox saliva.

The fox picks it falchion back up and quickly jabs it's tip into Sterlings foot and darts offm cackling mdly and vanishing from view.
Dark cringes, grumbling.
Dark cringes, grumbling.
Sterling growls and looks at the small hole in his boot. There was something to be said for having reinforced boots. He shot a look after the fox and then limped his way over to the water where he could rinse his injured and bleeding leg.
"Alright then, that was fun." He grimaced as he splashed water carefully over the injury.

Dark fell to his knees, holding his head in great pain. ''Agh...''
Realizing that Darkness seemed to be having problems, Sterling looked over at him nervously.
"You're not changing now, are you?" Sterling demanded. And then glanced at Hybrid Elder.

''My head...It hurts so..'' Dark choked, coughing.
Elder inched back, paled.
Elder inched back, paled.
Sterling watched Darkness where he was. The pendant in his hands nearly forgotten. "Can I help?" His gaze flickered over to the eel, but he didn't want to use it if he could help it.
Elder peeked outside, and his eyes widened in great fear as an early night approached. ''Sterling!'' He shouted, as Darkness reeled in great pain.
Sterling looked up at the sky overhead and muttered an oath. "That's not good." He limped back towards Hybrid Elder. "Where do we go from here? That stupid fox bit me and stabbed me." He slipped the pendant into his pocket.
''In only a few more minutes that moon will be out and Darkness will become a monster!''
"Fantastic. What do you want me to do about it? Get the eel out and hit him with it? Or shall we run for cover instead?"
Sterling placed a hand over his quiver, selecting an arrow. "Or we could shoot him first and make him angry; but I'd rather leave that as a last resort."

''We just have to watch him and use the eel when he starts attacking us!''
"That works too." Sterling put a little more distance between him and Darkness and Hybrid. If Darkness chose to attack one of them, the other would have to grab the eel.
Half under his breath, he murmured to himself: "Nice, Darkness. Easy."
