Dark holds his head in more pain, turning to his demon form as his first set of horns began to lengthen and sharpen. They turned into a dark shade of blue, crooked and curving up. Dark grits his teeth, shaking badly as the red moon peeked out from the clouds high in the night sky.

Sterling gritted his teeth, as though feeling Darkness' pain. Honestly, why did such mutations have to be so painful? If creatures could just change minus the pain, he rather thought the number of rampaging demons would be halved or quartered. And perhaps there wouldn't be such a misunderstanding between people and...non-humans.

But he grabbed for his crossbow, knowing that if Darkness charged him, he wouldn't have too much time to get out of the way. He glanced over at Hybrid, wondering if his frie--acquaintance was second-guessing the option of staying.

Elder stood his ground firmly, looking back at Sterling.

Darkness collapses, another set of crooked horns growing close to the first set. Only these were downwards and were seemingly lighter than the first. His fur grew thick, his wings covered in a mix of feather and fur as spikes and a blade appeared on his tail tip. Runes appeared on his arms and legs, and a small mask covered his eyes. He grew to the size of a bear, with large wings and a mouth full of razor sharp teeth were drool began to drip out.

It was the runes that caught Sterling's attention, beyond the fact that Darkness was turning into a creature that looked ten times worse than the original--which, honestly, Sterling really could not have imagined. Fortunately, there didn't appear to be any slime, except for the eel, still contained.

He nodded at Hybrid. They'd have to be careful, exceedingly more now than earlier. There was no telling what sort of reaction Darkness would have to their presence, or if he would even remember them at all. Sterling wasn't willing to bet on the latter.

He began to inch towards a tree. If Darkness did come barreling at him, he wanted to be able to put something between him and the mutant creature now the size of a bear.

Darkness stood up, then roared loudly, runes glowing. He turned to Sterling, and started to run at him, the ground trembling with each step he took. Even the eel curled up tightly in fear. Elder growled, and latched on Darks tail where their were no blades. This caused Dark to screech and stop in front of Sterling, snorting at his face with foul smelling breathe.

Sterling didn't even know what to do. He'd frozen as the beast stormed towards him, and only by Hybrid's quick thinking had he not been skewered on the horns.

He ducked and ran for the water, going for the eel. "Thanks, Elder!" he called as he attempted to make a run for it.

Dark screeched and tried to swing Elder off but couldn't. He then charged at Sterling again, his horns grazing his feet lightly but playfully enough to leave a tiny scratch.

Sterling grabbed for his crossbow as Darkness descended on him and fired it haphazardly. The bolt shattered against one of the horns, missing anything that might be construed as "sensitive" or "vital". He cursed and dodged as pain seared his foot.

But he landed in the water. Which meant he was close to the eel. And hopefully not in the water with the eel. "Easy there, Darkness! We're not here to harm you!"

The eel flopped about close to Sterling, along with 20 tiny tadpoles in the water.

Dark snarled, and swipes at Sterlings backside, missing it by a mere inch.

Sterling didn't pause. He scooped up a handful of tadpoles and threw them over his shoulder at Darkness. And then grabbed for the eel. He didn't bother to use his sleeve or anything--he wasn't planning on holding onto it for longer than it took to throw the eel at Darkness.

And he did precisely that. Grabbing the eel by the tail, turning and flinging the eel with surprising accuracy at Darkness.

The eel hits Darkness neck and zaps him badly. He screeches in agony and staggers back before falling onto his side as paralysis strick. Elder was flung into a wall, and slid down it, teeth gritted.

Sterling leaped for the eel, trying to grab it and toss it back into the bowl. They might need it for later; but mostly he was worried for Hybrid Elder.

"Hybrid! Hybrid!" He was beside him in a moment, kneeling down beside him and looking for injuries. "Where does it hurt?"

Elder cringes, his left arm snapped in multiple places and starting to well with blood. The bones poked out, and the flesh could be seen as well. ''Augh..My arm...Thats all besides some chipped teeth.'' He replied, trying to sound cheerful but sounded more like he was in pain as small blood droplets formed where his teeth were broke.

Sterling grimaced. "You're down for the count, Hybrid. Thank you for stopping Darkness. I'd've been crushed otherwise. Can I get you anything?" He was thinking maybe the eel would help...at the very least knock Hybrid out and let Sterling set the broken arm.

He glanced over his shoulder to check on Darkness. There was no telling how long he'd remain unconscious. Likely he would waken sooner than Sterling remembered the others being out for.

Elder winces. ''Whats wrong my arm? I..I can't move it. Agh..''

Sterling placed a firm hand on Elder's shoulder. "Your arm's broken in several places, Elder. Don't try to move it. I'll splint it, if I can, but it's going to hurt like...well...probably as bad as Darkness' shape shifting."

''How could you fix it and not make it hurt?'' Teeth gritted as his nerves in the injured arm started to go numb as it bled.

"If I had been any good as a healer, or had any magic worth speaking of, I wouldn't be here now. There is a way, but it would knock you out for a while." Sterling added.

He tied a piece of a cloth around Hybrid's upper arm, trying to slow the bleeding. "So which is it? You want me to grab the eel?"

''Just do something! It hurts!'' He hissed, cringing again in great pain. What was once white fur on arm was stained red and in a mess.

"Fine. Um..." He found two straight pieces of wood and then looked down at Hybrid's arm. "Oh he-" this wasn't going to work. For a simple fracture, yes. For a compound? Not so much. But he didn't have a choice.

"Alright, on the count of three. One. Two." He did it then. Tying the wood tightly together. "Three." He finished. "You hanging in there, Hybrid? You didn't pass out on me did you...?"
