The creature appeared and lunged at him, hitting the ground where he had been. It snarled and swiped at him hard, or tried to. As soon as sunlight hit it hissed in pain and skitters back into the darkness a bit.

"So you don't like the sunlight; that's nice to know." Sterling pushed himself upright and then paced in the morning sun.

Shadya charged quickly in his shadow and tackled Sterling, ignoring the burning hitting his bare skin.

With a cry of surprise and pain, Sterling fell. He had no time to prepare for the attack, and even less to fight back with.

"Hybrid! Darkness! A little help here?" He did his best to keep the creature from biting him--still thinking of it as a vampire.

Shady started to swipe at Sterlings face, and he saw it had no fangs.

He raised his arm to protect his face, wincing as the claws tore at his skin. Now that he had stopped that particular attempt at marring his face, he used his other hand to level yet another punch at the creature.

"I said, get off!"

The punch hits and the creature is knocked onto it's back, hissing in pain. It tries to roll to it's feet, its skull almost broken completely. Dark stirs awake and tosses Sterling a sharp long rock.

He catches the rock and then glances at Darkness. "Not quite what I had in mind when I asked for help," he muttered. But it'll do. He lobs the rock at the creature's face, intending to break the rest of the mask off.

The rock hits and the skull shatters to reveal a human face. He hissed, and covered his face, brown ears pinned back. ''My mask!''

Sterling is surprised to see a hint of normal(?) flesh behind what was a mask.

"Why do you hide your face?" the Hunter demanded. "Why do you attack for no reason?" He swept up his crossbow once again, while the creature was distracted.

''I hide my face because it makes anyone who looks at it become a target of a silver colored werewolf.'' It hissed, face still covered though it's claws were still visible. ''I'm cursed, just like all the other demons were that got killed. Your heartless you know. You destroyed my prized possession and now your going to pay dearly!''

"How about we make a deal." Sterling countered. "You look at me, let the werewolf attack, and winner decides what to do with whatever is left. Deal?"

If it was a werewolf that this creature was scared of, heck, Sterling had taken on far worse before. Besides, silver ran in his blood. If the wolf bit him, it would get a nasty shock.

Shady growls and removes his claws and glares at Sterling. A cold chill filled his spine, harshly.

Sterling grimaced and waited for the attack. He figured it wouldn't be long before something happened.

Of course, maybe he should have warned Darkness and Hybrid about the arrival of a second were-creature. He readied his crossbow bolts, glad he'd finally switched over to using silver-tipped bolts instead of the traditional iron.

THEN...

A silver werewolf walks up to Sterling with it's tail wagging, looking at the bolt like it wanted to play fetch. It looked so innocent, with clean fur and piercing green eyes yet the air around them felt uneasy.

Sterling hesitated. It was a werewolf. It was silver. It was...wagging its tail and looking playful. He didn't know where to begin. Should he shoot it? Or keep it for a pet?

He wasn't worried about it biting him, at least, and he risked a look at the mask-less creature. "This is the werewolf you were talking about?" The crossbow was still ready to be used, but he felt...bad...about pointing it at the innocent-looking pup.

''Yes it is! It's a monster! A beast! EVIL!'' He hissed.

The were barks, still eyeing the bolt and wagging it's tail playfully. It didn't look like a killer. Or a monster. It looked like it wanted to play fetch.

He snickered and pulled a loose bolt from his quiver. "I think it would rather play instead of eat me." He waved the loose bolt at the were-pup. "Fetch, pup!" And he threw it towards Shady.

Shady freaks and disappears into a shadow.

The pup barks happily and chases after the bolt before catching it. It came back, tail still wagging as it set the drool covered bolt down and looked at Sterling.

Well, that answered one problem. Shady was gone and the were-pup seemed friendly enough. Sterling sighed and crouched down beside it. "Good pup, but I can't keep you. If you bite me, you might hurt yourself." He paused. "Then again, if I let you go, you might bite someone else..." Why did he always get saddled with these things?

He picked up the bolt and threw it again. Maybe he'd just wear it out and figure out what to do with it afterwards.
