''If we can get out without the rest of the floor falling in.'' As Elder cautiously tried to get to the door, the floor creaking loudly as he stepped upon it.
Sterling had begun reaching out towards Elder and then paused. "Can you crawl across the boards? If you can proportion your weight out, then the boards aren't as likely to break."
It was worth a shot, as Sterling attempted to do what he'd said.

1. the boards creak. 2. the boards break.
Elder balances it out as the boards protest loudly in creaking and making him grimace.
''We're almost there..'' As he continued to the door shakily, sweating.

Somehow they manage to get across the floor without falling through it again. Sterling gingerly tested the door frame before stepping through it, but the floor on the other side seemed sturdy enough to support their weight. Why else would the innkeeper have let them live in a place where it would crumble out from under them?
"I'm going to have a few words with that innkeeper. And the guild," muttered Sterling sourly. Actually, he looked ready to shoot the innkeeper.

Elder stood shakily outside the door, terrified of heights. ''How did we not notice the floors creaking yesterday?''
"It was late, we were tired, and it's surprising we hadn't gone through the floorboards earlier than now." He noticed Hybrid's shaking. "You okay? We just got through the worst part."

1. The stairs collapse under them. 2. The worst is yet to come...
Elder steps onto the stairs, then screams when he fell through.
''Aaaaaaaggghhh!!''
''Aaaaaaaggghhh!!''
Sterling lunged to grab Hybrid before he fell too far, making a wild grab for the bladed man.
rolled 1d4 and got 2
1. Grabs the bladed arm. 2. Grabs the bladed wrist. 3. Grabs the unbladed wrist/arm. 4. Misses entirely and falls after Hybrid.
Pain surges through Sterling as the blade on the wrist digs into his hand harshly. Elder eyes widen as he saw the hand and blade meet. ''Sterling!'' He shouted though gritted teeth, ignoring the red that was starting to slide down his wrist.
He refused to feel--or at least, acknowledge--the pain of the blade digging into his hand. He had more important things on his mind, like how he was going to get Hybrid to the floor below him without dropping him.
Almost as soon as Sterling thought that, there was another cracking sound and the floor gave out below him, unable to take the combined weight of him and Elder.
Fortunately, Elder didn't have far to go. Only about six feet. Unfortunately, Sterling had no one to catch him.
"Ugh, ow," Sterling groaned, from where he'd landed. The crossbow barely missing him as it too fell.

Elder landed on his back, and was ko'd afterwards from shock. He went silet, the blade broken off and now stuck in Sterlings hand. He didn't budge, stuck within stair debris as a startled woman saw them and screamed loud enough to shatter a few windows.
The scream brought Sterling around, and he moved to sit up when he found a huge blade in his hand. And blood everywhere.
He swore and looked for Hybrid, finding him a few feet away. His vision grew a bit hazy, but he began to clear the debris off him enough to stagger upright. Hybrid, he needed to get Hybrid. Nevermind the blood dripping from his hand.
"Hybrid-" he croaked, and tried to clear the rubble off the man. "Hybrid!"

Elder started to stir once the debris was moved, but his tail was crushed. His right leg was broken aswell, and stained red where several sharp wooden stair bits had stabbed clean through the skin. Elder grits his teeth in pain, a few small teeth cracked and maybe one broken.
His mismatched eyes barely opened as his heart raced and his breaths were rough. He gasped for air, coughing harshly before he looked at Sterling weakly. All his horns were broken clean off, leaving his hair and drooped ears.
''S....S..Sterling?'' He wheezed, the woman running of to call the innkeeper.

"You're alive," Sterling sighed, and then felt his vision blur. Maybe he had hit his head? He wouldn't be surprised. "We need help, and the innkeeper..." he trailed off, a sudden wave of exhaustion hitting him.
He shook his head. Gotta stay awake. Must. Until the innkeeper arrived at least. He had seen someone run--hopefully to get help?
The innkeeper was in the backroom, sleeping like the dead. Not even the crashing of stairs or floors had wakened him; though the empty bottle of alcohol probably explained why he hadn't heard anything.

Elder cringes, then passed out.
The women knocks on the backroom door loudly, grunts, then calls the ambulance and police quickly. She was still scared, but her heart was racing as she told the police about the inn and the inn and about the injured folks. She said how one was still on the floor, and that the other was bleeding badly.Once she finished she ran back to the two.
Elder was still passed out cold, limp, with his injured tail bent awkwardly.

He fought to stay awake, but he just couldn't. "Urg," he groaned. This was so not a fitting way for a Hunter like him to die.
Fortunately the paramedics arrived along with the police, and they made quick work of checking on the victims. Hybrid Elder got some very strange looks with his tail and blades, but he was hoisted onto a gurney alongside Sterling and hauled into the ambulance.
Sterling faded in and out, only remembering faded images. A paramedic, pain dimming down, and then with the lack of pain...nothing. He wouldn't remember anything until he woke up in the hospital; his hand bandaged thickly and his head as well.

Elder would barely stir awake at all, pain surging through his body until it diminished over time. He'd slowly start to open his mismatched eyes...Only to weakly growl when he relized his eyes were covered up by a white clothe.
He couldn't move much, but what he did manage to do was try to open one his hands, the blades long gone and leaving him with fingernail-like nubs where blades would have been. He really just wanted to see Sterling, but he couldn't tell where he was at as he cringes once more from a numb tail...At least..He just hoped it was a numb tail.
''Uuuuugh...'' He groaned, still trying to open the badly bruised up hand.

Fortunately they'd been roomed together and Sterling looked over at Hybrid. He relaxed a little, after seeing the changes. "You okay, Hybrid?" he called across the room. "You were pretty hurt there."
The door swung open then and a nurse came through to check their vitals and found them awake. "How do you two feel? Any pain? I can increase your pain medication if there is."

''Is there any reason I have my eyes covered?'' Elder hissed weakly. ''I can hear people but I can't see them..'' And cringes again. ''Do I still have my tail? Agh...'' He grumbles, hand still opened. ''H...How am I even still alive? That fall was..Owch...So far down..'' He questioned, bladeless toes twitching occasionly as he spoke. But it was obvious is nerves were still steadying out even out.
''Sterling? You o..o..ok?''
''Sterling? You o..o..ok?''
The nurse adjusted the pain medications for them both before leaving them in peace.
Sterling shifted and then found the button to raise his bed up. He wasn't so badly hurt, but his arm throbbed a little. At last he could see Hybrid.
"Your eyes are covered with gauze; they must have done some sort of surgery or something. Also..." Sterling hesitated. "I think you got your wish...of wanting to be more normal."
