You've been hired, from half the world away, from humble beginnings in a small library... to come teach one of the most powerful and influential people on all of Vanehaim. You cant make a treaty with a country where you cannot speak the language or even read the messages, after all.
You can either bring in your own country from your own universe (preferably original) And fit it into Vanehaim, or be from one of the small principalities that are on islands to the far east of the map. There are chances for romance and fighting, but most of it will be character and history building. All of this is debatable, and adult themes are reserved for adult players.

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.

Unrest may be part of the setting, but any scenes that happen to involve combat may be summarized.
