Hello everyone, a little bit about me; I have a few years of in-person role play under my belt. My dad started my brother and I on D&D when I was about 12, some of my favorite memories were sitting around the kitchen table with dice and a hearty bowl of stew.
I've DMed a lot of games with my friends in a variety of fantasy settings. I preferred a more story driven campaign, we spent hours playing without even rolling dice. A few years ago, real life happened, and my group of friends fell apart.
Since then I've really missed having the outlet and community that role playing brought me. Now I'm looking to make some new friends and give the online RP scene a try. I have to admit, growing up in the country with dial-up, I've never been a very active member of any online community, but I hope to change that here.
That about sums it up for now. I can't wait to meet all the wonderful people out there. If anyone has any tips for someone new to the online game I'd much appreciate it.

Hello Flame, welcome welcome! Our New to Roleplay guide is a pretty useful place to get started - it details some common courtesy rules among online roleplayers that even experienced roleplayers find useful to check out. You're also welcome to use the Search feature to find answers to questions you might have, or just ask us straight up!

Thanks a ton, I'm sure to check it out. Generally I like to read up as much as possible before I jump into something.
Welcome to RPR! Those sound like some pretty awesome family memories I hope you're making lots of new RP friends and enjoying the site so far!
Hi Flamefiend. I have a couple of tips that will likely make transitioning to rping online easier.
1) Don't be afraid to ask anyone questions, either privately or by using the help forum. On a busy day, I'd say that it takes an hour or so for another community member to respond to questions posted. You'll have a polite response, or several (which is more likely to be honest), even if you personally feel like you've asked a silly question.
2) Checkout the stuff located under the Help tab, there are some really good guides for how the site works.
3) Checkout the Looking for RP forums to see if anything catches your attention. If nothing does, make your own post. Very rarely does it take long for someone to respond.
4) Don't sweat the small stuff, we're all pretty laid back... Well, I'm a bit of a spazz but I swear I'm harmless.
5) Have fun!

Dial up, huh? Do you STILL have it? o_o I remember listening to it squeak and squawk all through dinner and then I could play a game for 10 minutes before my mom would tell me to get off so she could use the phone. Memories.... xD
Welcome!
Welcome!
You, sir, are a kindred spirit. I started when I was 9, and have been playing ever since (that's a long time, btw).
Welcome to the RPR.

I just want to say "thank you" to everyone that has welcomed me here. I can already tell that this is a warm and kind community.
Welcome fellow D&D DM! Always glad to have more kindred spirits like that around.
I'm so glad you're having a good experience of the site so far. Please know that I and all the mods and most people on the site in general will always be happy to help you out with any questions or troubles you might run into.

I have some friends who play D&D that I could introduce to you if you'd like otherwise I haven't played in myself. I really like Betrayal at House on the Hill. I would also find it very beneficial if you could explain dice use to me I'm not well versed in at all..... Well I hope you have a great time on here!
